How can we afford Lamb and Dak?

And then Parsons…?
I presume Tyron and Lawrence will get cut next off-season to make cap room for the Dak extension and Parsons deal? Maybe Gallup too? Will that even be enough with Diggs, Steele, Ceedee, and Martin sitting on fat new deals?
No way does Parson not get his deal...

I don’t know and honestly, don’t care. NFL teams find the way to pay who they want to pay.

Our front office is better than most at working the cap so I’m not concerned. None of us really have a clue as to how it all works.
All of those undrafted and late round picks on the roster give them plenty of money to work with.

I like how we have such great cap experts here.

The money...is one thing I dont worry about. People either wear The Star...or not.

One real benefit of being a fan. Someone else plays the game and further yet, someone else pays for it all... :starspin:

Well I expect Chase and Jefferson to go over 30 and CD to be in the 25 to 27 range
Why should CD that much less?

I'm not saying your wrong, just curious as to what leads you that. If he explodes this season he could very well be over 30 mil a year.

Steve, of course the star comes first but because the salary cap determines who stays and who goes and who can be acquired, it becomes part of the conversation and we debate if a player lives up to his cap burden or not…..I wish we had a league without a cap and it wouldn’t be an issue

I said if he explodes he will get over 30. Right now he is in that second tier with AJ Brown.

yeah, we could buy more Super Bowls if there were no salary caps.

They're is no such thing as a salary cap. Owners want it so they can blame a lack of spending on something other than themselves.

You can manipulate the cap to spend whatever you want.

Dak haters look away now.

The Cowboys can simply extend Dak a few more years and reduce his annual cap hit. Add that to the fact the cap will steadily increase and they can easily afford not only Dak and Lamb, but Parsons too.

And to be fair, as has been stated here above, the Cowboys can, indeed, move on from Dak after 6-1-24. Of course, that means they would have to be 100 percent convinced about Trey Lance by then, which I can't see how they could be.
Do they need to be convinced of Lance if they become convinced Dak is in decline?

If Dak continues to be the reason they can't advance, which he has been so far, then there's no reason to continue beating their head against a wall in futility.

Lance is a clear warning to Dak to that effect, and he knows it. Veri much a leverage move.

They for sure will go over 30. JJ is the key for us. Need to sign cd before prices keep going up with JJs new deal. Chase is one year behind.

Interesting to see the Cowboys singing big $$ contracts to those earlier in their career and trade for a QB with starting potential. The message to Dak Prescott is clear: win the super bowl this season or were moving on and you're not getting getting a 50 million a year extension.

The thing is by June 2024 all Lance will have gotten is practice time and maybe some OTA work. It would take an injury for him to play this season since he is learning the offense on the fly.

The Cowboys won't have any tangible evidence Lance can take over so in that regard they will need Dak at least another year; unless he completely implodes and shows major signs of decline. Last year's picks were an outlier. The offensive production in 2022 with Dak can't be ignored.

OU guy here, and love that CD is here, but no way do I pay him that. He's not irreplaceable in the next draft.

But if they decide Dak is in decline, what's the point of continuing with him?

I understand the concept but couldn’t we have gotten someone with proven ability?

I don’t hate the move because of the potential upside for a 4th but I’m not enamored with it either.

This FO just refuses to draft a quality quarterback……always low picks or UDFA or projects like this

I meant jj and chase over 30. Not cd. But if they sign him before jj it will be cheaper than after. Price keeps going up.
