In 2016 when he had his stud LT and not a sniff of Chaz Freaking Green on the field he balled out. That's in the book.
In 2017, mostly without the services of his stud LT (and the unfortunate appearance of Chad "Six Sacks In One Game" Green) he regressed a bit. That's also in the books.
I tend to be a glass half full guy and I don't envision any games this year with Chaz Green in the mix. That bodes well for Dak and the offense as a whole.
As much as we like to pin it all on the QB, the offensive line is the true direction plotter in the overall scheme.
Given what my eyes have seen at Mississippi State and in Dallas, I don't find him limited at all. This year is going to be his true breakout year. All of the detracting influences are in the rear view. (Babysitting a ball dropping WR, having a HoF TE that runs routes that just no longer represent who he truly has meant to Dallas, having his play calling options limited due to the initial detractor I mentioned)
It is going to be an upward swinging year. The Zeke/Dak connection is going to be better than ever.... Not to mention the buzz around them actually having true support on the defensive side of the ball this year. It's looking bright.
I just don't get the "he doesn't have elite talent" narrative. He was successful in the SEC and had a season in 2016 that I know even his most staunchest of current critics were salivating over in that year. He now has numerous WR weapons around him that:
1. Won't cry and demand the ball 247
2. Will run crisp routes
3. Will be where they're supposed to be when they're supposed to be there.
4. Will instill trust that contributes to so much high potential in the passing game this year.
Agree.
So... 2016 Dak... I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. You and many others. Just like you were in 2016.
I won't be surprised at all.
