I'll put it this way. If romo gets hurt for any period of time we will be picking very high again next year

I agree to a point. But I really doubt we'll be picking in the top 5 again. We lost some really, really close games last year (2 in OT, loss by 1-point to Seattle, 1 BS holding call lost it to Tampa, etc). On top of that, Dez wasn't Dez and the schedule was pretty rough for us compared to this year's. If Romo goes out for the same amount of games next year, I don't see us only getting 4 wins. More like 6-7. This is just my opinion.

Denver lost Manning for 7 games and still made the playoffs and won the Super Bowl. Any team that goes 1-11 with three backup QBs has issues that go deeper than QB.

That's true.. But there defense was the best in the league.. They got even better in the playoffs

Which is why the Cowboys need to draft for defense. Manning had the worst season of his career but still won a SB because he had a great defense. His team got blown out in the SB 2 years ago when he had the greatest season of his career and one of the greatest offenses because he didn't have a good defense.

A) Not a believer in Moore, if he is playing that means season is lost

B) Don't know if it matters, unless were developing a young gun. If Tony goes down, again season is lost.

Doesn't matter who the back up is, if we lose Romo, we won't get to the SB.

Very true and the danger in not having a good backup qb is we end up picking 4th again. I dont know the qb prospects next season, but any rookie would be walking into a good situation with the ol, true number 1 receiver, and a good running game.

Uncomfortable with the QB situation in the entire NFL. Scared to death of the way colleges are putting out totally unprepared QBs to the NFL. Every year the talent is getting thinner and thinner.

You are 100% correct. So as a organization the #1 priority should be finding a capable young replacement. Tony's back hurts from carrying the load for so long.

Nice to have someone who can win a game or two if Romo is out

heres a list of free agent qb's from sportrac....other than Hoyer and Fitz, the rest of them would fit in our budget.

Brian Hoyer
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Johnny Manziel
Bruce Gradkowski
Tarvaris Jackson
Charlie Whitehurst
Michael Vick
Josh Johnson
T.J. Yates
Matt Flynn
Jimmy Clausen
Josh Freeman
Ryan Lindley
Brad Sorensen

With that list, why not just draft a QB in he first and let him play if Romo goes down. None of those QBs on that list are going to keep you alive if Tony goes down.

Over half the NFL has worse than Romo, so let's pretend the sky is falling on Tony Romo and he should retire!!!!!!!

When the truth is that this 'team' couldn't win with two proven Vets.

Yeah, having the league's top rated defense will get you the win in most or all of those games lost by 7 pts or less.

yeah, well we don't have a top ranked defense....... we signed, Jack, Benson and Kyle.

that may be true, but their are a couple on that list that are better than Moore...like Yates, Claussen, maybe even Whitehurst

And I think teams are seeing that and responding accordingly.

Two questions I have specifically about the backup QB position.

A. How comfortable are you with Kellen Moore as the backup?

B. If we don't draft a QB in round 1 or 2, should a vet QB be brought in and who?

please answer the 2 questions before you go on your rants.

A – not at all.
B – absolutely.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but Hoyer looks very attractive right now. When you look at his career line, and don't get too caught up on the playoff game from last December, you see a guy who's done very well in this league on some very bad teams. Last season with the Texans, he threw 19 TD passes, and only seven interceptions. His QBR was 91.7. I'll take that from a back up any day of the week.

Not comfortable at all with moore as the backup. If 3rd string, probably ok with it. If we pick a QB in the draft to groom as the future QB, then prefer a vet over Moore.
But also depends, if Romo goes down, and not out long, then I am probably ok with Moore.
Long term, give me the vet, unless the QB we take is Wentz or Goff or Lynch. Most anyone else, need that vet.

I take the vet even if we do draft a quarterback this year. Nothing wrong with having a secure back up until the rookie in training is comfortable and ready to go.
