How Confident are you in Fredrick?

Frederick is the best in Dallas since Mark Stepnoski and Ray Donaldson, ending the near two Decades of the Center being blown up into the back field on a regular basis.

I hope you're right but could we maybe see him in pads first.

I think so too. Center is so important. After Step, our offense was terrible until they got Donaldson.

Gurode was good for a 4-5 year period. It sucked we had to use a OG to help him with theline calls but he was good.

Donaldson immediately replaced Stepnoski... there was no one in between them....

I'll wait and see. I have little faith in anything that comes out of the coaching staffs mouth regarding offensive linemen after the absolute BS they spouted about the stiffs they signed last offseason.

I'd like to see them cut Berny, Arkin & Livings. Then sign Lurgersky (sp) to play guard with Leary.

..it's not an easy position and his first season will be on and off. But I've been waiting for 3 decades for the Cowboys to finally draft a solid center for a change and not just try to convert reject G's and T's.

I think I was demanded by Romo who is tired of poor center play and we needed a bodyguard for Romo in the middle.

Now if we'd just take Free and move him to G next to him..we'd have the beginnings of a solid front wall going on.

Free to guard?

His major weakness is power so why would he be better against DT than DE?

Gurode was OK. The Cowboys kept saying they were waiting for it to all click with him though. They thought he could have been better.

To all of you who keep complaining that he was a reach with the 31st pick because it was a first rounder but would have been ok with the pick if he had been taken two spots lower because he would have been a second rounder...... I think you are really complaining just to be complaining.

Dallas has done a pretty good job of drafting the past several drafts, so I am willing to cut them a little more slack on their draft picks than I was prior to that time. They obviously didnt go strictly best player available throughout the draft but if they have evaluated the players right, then they should, on paper, be very pleased with the outcome of this draft.

Unless I'm wrong Kennard started four games in 95 and Donaldson started 12.

Just ok? In the 9 seasons he played for the us (2002-2010) he was selected to the probowl in 5 consecutive years (2006-2010). He was also voted all nfl first team by sporting News(2007) and 2nd team by AP (2009).

He did have share of bad moments but he was better than ok.

Donaldson started the first 12 games of 95, did an outstanding job,and then got hurt. When Derek Kennard replaced him the O came to a standstill, coincidence or not. But my original point was that Donaldson was signed to specifically replace Stepnoski. There was no one else in between them.

on scale of 1 thru 10 (1 being total bust and 10 being game changing all pro) I would give him a 6 at this stage. Improvement but nothing remotely dominating.

you're right.

Frederick is a second round talent draft pick, how much confidence can you have in him when early first rounders like Ryan Leaf fail all the time? I'm happy that Jerry was forced to begrudgingly up the ante a little bit for the OL, but really, how far removed is this pick from 3rd rounders like Arkin, Martin and Brewster?

Hopeful- Yes
Confident? No

Well said........

Oh well, if we would have taken Jay Ratliff in the first round the entire football community would have said we had lost our minds.

Let's just see how the guy plays, and how he snaps the ball.

It is comical how some of you guys build up these players.

So this rookie who has never played a snap in the NFL is automatically the best center we have had in 20 years? Really?

Matt Johnson hasn't even sniffed the football field and he is the great white hope of the safety position.

I can understand optimism, but this is beyond stupid.
