Just out of curiosity, I went back and checked out Randle's draft profile on NFL.com. If you look at the comments at the bottom, lots of people giving him praise even before he was selected. Stuff like "wouldn't be surprised if he's gone by middle of round 2", etc. I know that this means pretty much nothing today, but I actually didn't realize that he was considered a "value pick" at the time. Was he one of those guys that dropped as far as he did mainly because of his 4.6-ish speed? They don't say much negative about him here besides his height and speed.

I wonder if he was actually picked up in the 3rd or 4th round if folks wouldn't be so down on him being the front-runner to start this season.

It seem to me that someone is whisling past the paved yard.

Not whistling just stating that while McFadden has his warts he did grade out as one of the better pass blocking RB in the league. IIRC he didn't blow 1 assignment last year. Now everything else is up in the air.

Could be and he has a slight build so if you are not "fast" you better be able to pound it, if you are not "big" you better be able to out run everyone. I think he plays closer to his 40 time than Murray did especially last year.

Here's an interesting comparison showcasing Murray & Randle's stats from last year.

Now before anyone has a canary, I'm not saying that Randle will get the sane amount of carries that Murray did last year. He won't. But if you do the math, here's how it translates:

Murray received 8x the amount of carries that Randle did last year. (Give or take. -16 in actuality) Statistically, if Randle received the same amount of touches as Murray, he would have run for 2,744 yards and 24 TDs. He would also have had another 341 attempts to exceed his long of 65 yards.

Crazy, right?

I'm not saying that he's going to put up these numbers. Again, he won't. But it should ease the minds of some who are adamant that we don't have a capable back to replace Murray. I'm not trying to chug myself into a Kool-Aid coma, but it is worth noting and opens the door for optimism.

Why do people doubt Randle? [/B]I would like some sincere, well thought answers- not because he's a doofus off the field.
Tons of idiots have made supremely successful NFL careers.
You question his endurance? Why? Just because he wasn't given the opportunity? Has he an injury history?
Is it talent? I would like to know what it is that any of you have seen that he is untalented.

Let's face it: This team isn't adding anyone this year (it could happen, but it's highly unlikely) that's going to put anyone's mind at rest.
What's wrong with going with Randle? If he shows in Camp and Preseason: what's the problem? Like he hasn't already shown capable during the Real Season... what's up?

Stealing undies too personal a feeling for some of you? Mikey Irvin snorted rails in limos with hooks and threw parties at the White House.
Degauss the moral compass people.

Preach, Preach, Preach!!

You read far enough and you find the true reason for this article:

So should I draft Randle in fantasy football, then?

If you look at some of the attached vids (and buy what they're saying) on that link, you for sure would.

They say Randle will be a top 5 rusher this year.

They say...
The line is the leagues best (for rushing at least)
Randle is talented enough
Teams fear Romo/Dez/Witten/Williams...so no loaded boxes
Not a ton of competition in the backfield to say Randle won't get 250 carries
250 x 4.4 ypc = 1200 yards

He had known personality issues in college. Nothing criminal, but some dumb stuff like we've seen here.

Nope. The video aside (which is enough for me in it's own right), I'd rather go with what we have on the roster now and upgrade through the draft, trade or FA next off-season. I just can't picture him in a Cowboys uniform. We don't need an aging vet at the position. We already have one of those. And we certainly don't need anymore negative publicity.

Randle may be fine but I'm still a bit shocked that we didn't take a RB at some point in the draft.

Should be interesting see how the various careers (or non-careers) work out for this RB class.

So lol Randle could set a new NFL record this year and be best RB ever??
you cant extrapolate like that with stats.
Randle is a unknown as a regular every down 16 game back.
No one can say how he will do over course of the season.
If they had let him be the guy in 2 games last year then they would know more, and we could speculate more.
All of the Dallas RB's right now are hard to predict in how they might do.
they could be good or bad, or get hurt banged up quick, it is just a wait and see how it goes type deal.

Had the kept murray even though he had flaws, they would know what they have and how to use him.
In a year when they want to make a run keeping murray was the smart move.

They rolled the dice on RB an now we have to wait and see if it comes up snake eyes or 7 , could be either one.

If the RB situation remains unchanged Randle will surprise a lot of folks but I don't see him being a top 5 back. 250 carries is 15 a game and I can see several RB's getting more than that.

That was their prediction , btw.

Anyway, this is a league full of full or partial committees. Not many back get more than 250-260 range.
If Randle got that 15 carries per game (so 250) and averaged only 4.4 ypc, then by last years stats, he would be a top 6-7 RB.
If he did better than 4.4 ypc (which I suspect he very well could) then he'd obviously be higher.

You may want to reread my post. Then try again.

Sad thing is he could get those 250-260 carries and his 1200 yards and will be absolutely crucified by some of our membership.

Quit possibly.
I guess it depends what the others do with rest of the 150-180 or so carries.
If it 4ypc or better, we just matched last year.

The thing is, I'm very sure Murray circa 2015 would not be as good as contract year 400 carry Murray in 2014.

How did Randle emerge ... as the starter?

Because the other backs are injured. Duh!
