Joseph Randle is kind of an arrogant punk... but he's a 2nd rounder and he plays much better than his combine numbers suggest. I've been a supporter of keeping him around since the get go. Now is his chance. .hope he doesn't screw it up.

Wow where is this coming from?

Haven't you heard his interviews? How he talks to people..he gets into it with players as well. Listen, I don't know him personally, but from the outside, to me he's arrogant and entitled. I'm glad Garrett put him in his place.

How Did Joseph Randle Emerge as the Favorite for the Cowboys' Starting RB Job?

It's mid-June, we are about two-and-a-half months from the start of the NFL season. The Dallas Cowboys are coming off arguably their most successful season in this millennium, one which was kick-started by a powerful run game that was effective despite a high volume of attempts.

DeMarco Murray is gone, and all signs point to the Cowboys rolling with Joseph Randle, a third-year back out of Oklahoma State who was drafted in the fifth round. As he is replacing a running back who won the Offensive Player of the Year award, Randle had a lot of pressure on him even before he insinuated that Murray wasn't flawless last season...

Why do people doubt Randle? I would like some sincere, well thought answers- not because he's a doofus off the field.
Tons of idiots have made supremely successful NFL careers.
You question his endurance? Why? Just because he wasn't given the opportunity? Has he an injury history?
Is it talent? I would like to know what it is that any of you have seen that he is untalented.

Let's face it: This team isn't adding anyone this year (it could happen, but it's highly unlikely) that's going to put anyone's mind at rest.
What's wrong with going with Randle? If he shows in Camp and Preseason: what's the problem? Like he hasn't already shown capable during the Real Season... what's up?

Stealing undies too personal a feeling for some of you? Mikey Irvin snorted rails in limos with hooks and threw parties at the White House.
Degauss the moral compass people.

I totally agree with what your saying and wished we could have seen more of him last year.
The offense used him in certain packages however I can't help but wonder if they were concerned about his ability to protect Romo. I have no evidence to say that he was inefficient as a QB protector/blocker but would think that may be the only reason he saw limited action last year (given his success with avg yards per carry) and their concerns for him as a starter this year?

Im going to get a kick out of watching Randle run roughshod through the monster holes the Oline creates. If Randle gets anything close to 300 carries this year, he should have no problem picking up 1300 to 1500 yards. Many on here are going to have some crow to eat.

The only reason I asked is I've been following him since he was in high school and haven't seen anything to suggest he is an arrogant punk.

Randle is a quicker back, with better moves in the open field and better speed. And his vision is 10 times better than that of Murray. He hits the holes fast. He is also not a small back. He has NOT had durability issues. And he has better hands then Murray. We should see bigger plays in the passing game from him, Dunbar, and McFadden. The ONLY thing that Murray might do better is picking up the Dirty yards. But the big plays will be much more frequent this year in the run game.

And we all know that Murray had fumbling issues. Randle does not have those issues.

Randle has had 107 rushes with 2 fumbles for a fumble rate of almost 0.04. Murray had 5 fumbles last year and lost all of them but had a fumble rate of 0.0077.

So actually Randle potentially has a worse problem. You can't always correlate one year to the next. But most coaches have very little tolerance for fumbling. And labels are hard to get rid of even if they aren't deserved.

I agree. Murray fumbles came in the 1st 8 games, in the 2nd half of the season he had 0 fumbles until the GB game. Prior to last year he had no issues with fumbling. As for Randle right now he is the only healthy RB out there so of course he is getting the reps right now and how he fairs this coming season when he will have to carry a lot more than 3 carries a game avg he has had thus far is anyone guess.

He's a bit of a weird duck. That abrupt interview he gave last week, where he said he thought Dunbar was the backup, for example, and then just stopped talking. I gather he meant that he wasn't a backup last season, but it's kind of crazy. I bet we get some doozies this year in terms of sound bites if he starts to have a good season.

His rookie year, didn't Jason make a comment about Randle being a bit goofy when they went to the beach? He had never seen the ocean or something, and...I don't remember. I just recall them kind of shrugging and suggesting he marches to the beat of a different drum. It didn't seem like they didn't like him, though. I just think he's a bit of an unusual cat and sort of an idiot.

He's running with the 1st unit, because Williams and DMC are hurt...

The article says:

OK, but why haven't the Cowboys actually tried to do better at the position?

Again, reading the tea leaves, it appears that the Cowboys believe that their offensive line is much more important than the back running behind it.

_____________________________________________________

IMO the tea leaves don't just say the Cowboys think the OL is important... they also say that Dallas likes the RB's they have right now. Primarily, IMO, Randle.
