How did Romo lovers feel about Romo starting that meaningless game in preseason 2016?

One of the most frustrating things with the Romo discussion is how his career I looked upon post retirement. I probably was the biggest Romo fan in the country....but something happen between retiring and now with the fans. I got left behind in the dirt because I clearly missed the times where Romo put this team on his back consistently and went to the playoffs. I forgot who said it but Dak and Romo both needed solid teams around them to contend. They both needed solid coaching. Just like most guys do. Anyone wanting to pretend like Romo was just head and shoulders better than Dak isn't remembering his career very well.

Every QB needs that so ......not sure why you think that is a point of contention.

I just said in a different thread...Tampa did NOT win the Super Bowl because of Brady. The DEFENSE...was STELLAR!

And Dak has to take his first live snaps against them. I am wary.

What do you mean for one season? He got hurt in the other 2. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t what was available to him. He wasn’t playing being second string lines when he got hurt.

I am talking about Murrays fumble against Green bay...and 17 point swing.

This "rb leader".....that fumbled the game away.

But you need to stay consistent in your logic.

I am very sorry I pointed out your hypocrisy. I know you hate that!
The problem is you are willing to make an argument on behalf of Romo, but you are unwilling to do the same for Dak.

He didn’t fumble the game away. You just want to blame him. It was a big fumble, no doubt but he also had a great game and even scored a TD on the next drive to give us an 8 point lead. Now, how did Romo’s fumbles that game impact the outcome?

maybe we win if Murray didn’t fumble.
Maybe we win if Romo doesn’t fumble.

I like them both too. But your assessment is such a surface high altitude comparison is pathetic.

There's no detail, refinement, discernment...

They have a few things on common of course. But COMPLETELY ALIKE?

Rifkingdiculous.

read this kid then get back to me about how pathetic it is..He already has more game winning drives than Romo..does that make Dak better no...does that make you statement im replying to "ridiculous" and " pathetic" yes....I have tried with you even defending you when you go off the rails about zeke...but man you need to have facts before you attack people.

Green Bay Had the NEXT two drives and scored both of them.

I think we're getting off target here now. That's okay...I do not mind being called out. As the conversation drifts.

I do find it funny that YOU...are doing the SAME thing you accuse me of doing. Dak...Tony.....whatever.

The main differnce is people have forgotten...ignore...how good Tony was for us. We NEED to stop this Dak vs Tony crap. Tony vs the NFL of his time is more productive. Here you go again...if you give a dam about facts. I doubt any of you will even go here and read it...you dam well have your mind made up and screw the facts..

Thats fine, whatever....not even watching that...but I stand by my OPINION...Dak has a better team in his career than Romo had.

Joseph Randle. LOL.

Come on.

Having said that...I like Dak...and think he is good enough for us to win....if healthy.

They didn’t have the next 2 drives. Murray fumbled on our first possession of the 2nd half and GB kicked a FG to cut our 4 point lead to 1. Murray then had a great drive and scored to extend the lead to 8.

I really don’t want to argue about it, but I will give you something to ponder. I think the major reason why this Romo vs Dak debate just goes in cycles is because of the approach people take when debating and both sides are guilty…even me…and I can argue both sides depending on what mood I am in.

Here is what happens: Romo lovers will highlight his strengths and bring up all the mistakes the team made preventing him from winning while diminishing Romo’s mistakes.

However, with Dak they highlight his mistakes and diminish the mistakes the team made.

And visa versa.

Try this, take a consistent approach with both QBs. Try defending them and then try attacking them using the same approach. You will see they are pretty similar.

I think you should go back and reread MY posts.

Did Murray LEAD the league? Did he fumble the game away?

Look...here is the real deal. Honestly. ..I regret getting involved in this. Yes...I did like Romo. An undrafted player who became a top QB in a VERY good group. What an amazing accomplishment. I only wish he had an earned chanced to fulfil his legacy.

That didn't happen. Dak took a VERY good team and won games. He stayed healthy. But...even the cowboys admitted they were going to say with Dak because of "win streak". Not because Dak was a better QB. I happen to think that was a loss of leadership...for "luck".

Fine.

And now...Dak is our QB. I root for him and want him to play well just like I did Tony. I should not have engaged in comparisons. Not the same player, not the same team.

So I concede...whatever your point is...you are of course 100% correct and right. Please carry on. Good night.

Green bay had the 1st drive of the second half. And scored.

The difference is that Romo was responsible for winning without great talent around him. Dak wins because of the talent he has been surrounded with. At one time or another , Dak has had some of the best oline, RB , WRs, etc , in the league. Romo didn’t have that luxury. He had Phil Costa and WR Roy Williams to overcome.
