How do the Cowboys compare to rival Philly Eagles?

The Eagles made their own breaks by not losing to Jacksonville and Green Bay.
Yeah, both of those games at home, ours were on the road. Jaguars game was also played early in season before they got it together. They were a more formidable opponent later in the season when we played them. Those are just the breaks the Eagles got. It is their year, plain and simple.

The Eagles have 11 starters who will be FAs, 8 on defense, along with several key backups. 4 of those FAs currently will be a 34m cap hit next season even if not resigned. Another is 32. Realistically they can resign maybe half at best. They have a total of 5 draft picks 2 1st and 2 7ths. They still have to pay their QB!
What's this got to do with this Sunday? People need to stop worrying about the future, if Philly was so worried about next season and the ones after that, then they would be at home like the Cowboys.

I put the Eagles ahead of Dallas in every category. And to make things worse the Eagles have two first round picks next year to make themselves even better
Yup, and they will continue to have a huge advantage at the GM position too so they will optimize their resources while “we like our guys…”

You’re kinda missing the point, the Eagles were rapidly aging team who’s management thought were a couple of players away. They took a shot, the same shot others have tried and failed. They beat the odds. At no time in the last 10 years have I looked the roster and thought we were a player or 2 away. We sure as **** weren’t last year. When you get there, then you take your shot. No point in blowing up your team for the next 5 years for premature wet dream!

Recently, the Rams, Bucs, KC and Philly have taken shots and are winning. Tell the Joneses that if they're scared then stay on the porch like they've done the last 28 years.

I've seen several posts and comments here Da Zone, stating the Cowboys are not that far behind the Super Bowl contending Philadelphia Eagles, ..
So per opinion/thoughts, how do we the Cowboys compare to the Philly Eagles in various areas, units and positions ?

Here's a look at mine.

MANAGEMENT TEAM/FRONT OFFICE - Eagles

COACHES:
Head Coach - Eagles
Offensive Coordinator - Eagles
Defensive Coordinator - Eagles

OFFENSE
Quarterback - Eagles
Running Backs - Cowboys
Tight End - Eagles
Wide Receiver - Eagles
Offensive Line - Cowboys

DEFENSE
Defensive Line - Eagles
Linebackers - Cowboys
Cornerbacks - Eagles
Safety- Eagles

SPECIAL TEAMS:
FG kicker - Eagles
Punter - Cowboys
Return specialist - Cowboys
The bottom line is they split with them. They were very close. The Eagles were just a little better in the long run.

The Rams suck. The Bucs suck. One of the Eagles or Chiefs will lose tomorrow. The Cowboys were close this year and will be good next year as well.

Chiefs primarily went draft. Eagles, Rams, and especially the Bucs thought they were a player or 2 away. We’re not, nor have we been close to that category. All 3 of those teams did have some major cap issues coming up, and the Rams are almost back to be a national embarrassment!

In overall talent I don't think the teams are that far apart. I think the big difference is the ownership and GM situation. Lurie is fine with hiring quality people and letting them do their thing. He also believes in proving yourself over and over. He fired the first Super Bowl winning coach they ever had when he had his first losing season. We have Beavis and Butthead running the show.

It seems like a completely different mindset within the locker room as well. As soon as players make it to Dallas they become media personalities and it seems like football is secondary.

I feel the only way Dallas wins a Super Bowl under the current ownership is dumb luck.

And there is a really good chance the next couple seasons run through Philly. They are a good team, well coached, and loaded with draft picks.

The teams are very close talent wise from the starter perspective, Eagles have much better depth particularly on the defensive side of the ball. Our seasons could have been reversed if the Cowboys front office didn’t over estimate the talent they thought they had at wide receiver.

I believe the Eagles are better in the trenches on both sides of the ball that’s where we have to move improve

One organization is a true contender and one organization is a true pretender. Pretty clear to me.

Team was 12-5, 2 seasons in a row, tells me they’re drafting well, resigning the right players and not having to chase outside FAs that fail 75-80% of the time. But yeah, I get it, most fans have a simplistic “grass is greener on the other side” mentality towards roster building!
Yayyyyyyyy......we were 24-10 in two years and you're happy? Philly won a super bowl, fired their coach and qb, hired and drafted new ones and are back in the super bowl again. That's what happen when you decide that "happy to be in the middle" is not good enough. That 24-10 record got them watching the game just like me and you, on their own TVs.

Here's the shot at you and the Joneses:

Howie Roseman:
"When we won a championship, we'd made aggressive decisions, and we had taken some risks, and we saw that it's hard because the league is designed like a bell curve," he said during Super Bowl LVII Opening Night. "They want most teams to be in the middle of the bell curve. So for you to take a chance and try to get to the top of the bell curve, you probably have to risk being at the opposite end. I think for us, it would be worse to fall in the middle than it would be taking a chance to be great and maybe falling back."

Here's the link it tells how the Eagles and KC built their rosters, you know real teams with real GMs.

Lol! There you have it! Go root for the Eagles. I stick with management that’s trying to build a team that can compete long term, instead of a coming disaster created from running the team like a spoiled child in need of instant gratification and it’s the last year there will be football. Go on now…get!!!

They've been doing that for 30 years how's that worked out? When will we cash in a SB championship? Or will we just be good enough with drafting and resigning our own to just make the playoffs? The evidence says we'll just be good enough to make the playoffs like we've been doing.

I'm no eagles fan but I can tip my hat when I see teams doing things the right way, I'd hope we'd emulate what other successful teams have done rather than the Joneses trying to do it "their way" which hasn't worked.
