How do you build around 3 players making up 50% of Cap?

That's why KC dumped Hill. They did not want to. Then they franchised Jones for a year while some salary cap space cleared up, kicked Mahomes's salary down the road, and signed the Defensive guy. Which is what you are forced to do. Your QB will have to make do w/ rooks and #2 type WRs.
This^^*
Best post so far. Thanks KS. I think this is close to the answer we are looking for.

we act like we're too scared to let players go or trade them! There's always the sweet talk from the owners on how much we love them and are working hard to do this and that, NO if it's hurting your team or can, let them go!
Coveting his own players is one of Jerry's horrific traits that keeps us from winning in the playoffs.

Ok but how many years do you waste with them In their prime while looking for another playoff caliber QB.
Well check this out that's where the honesty should come from "hey guys, we can't afford to keep all of you!" Ceedee hears this and doesn't sign a big deal knowing that he's goin to play with someone unknown! These guys are all about money it seems right, take the deal hey at least you got your money

Prescott has to be willing to kick his contract down the road for Cap implications. Pay him a HUGE signing bonus. More than the 66 million he got last time. And by the end of the deal we can have drafted his heir apparent.

I dont see any other way unless you’re prepared to let one walk. And I’d keep Parsons over Lamb.

Yea , we can let Prescott walk but then you’re probably reduced to less than a playoff caliber QB until you find another one .

A competent GM would sit down w/ CD and figure out if he's signable. If CD is going to insist on 30 mil +, you trade him. Why? Because you cannot pay the position of WR over 8% of your salary cap.

hey hey hey easy, the more love you give him, the less he calls me "coogles!" lol, you're right he is spot on with that
He’s one of my favorite fans here. We don’t always agree but more times than not. But I trust his player evaluations .

We absolutely cannot afford to pay Prescott another shorter term deal for 50-60 mil/season. That's just not going to get it done.

Not always easy when I'm going against the grain, but reading scouting reports prolifically helps a ton. Find out what the scouts look for and go from there.

You're killing me man, that's a tough pill to swallow. I guess who's easier to replace a #1 QB, or a #1 WR, answer is simple, the #1 WR

Would it help to make it a 4 year deal to where it's really just a 2 year deal with void years?

Yea , I’ve felt assuming we can get a deal done with Prescott, Lamb has to be the odd man out.

I believe you are the one who has said many times, Market Price paid WR1 aren’t winning SB’s.

This is what we are looking at if we resign Lamb, Prescott and Parsons.

Even our dysfunctional ownership has mentioned this in our 1st week at Training Camp.

I’m not sure any Franchise has ever attempted such a task?

We couldn’t build around them on Rookie contracts , how do you if they are about half of your Cap. I’m all ears people!!
Because they're not going to be 50% of the cap.

Then DON'T re-sign them. And start doing GM work to leverage their value to build out the rest of the team!!!!

Letting a franchise QB in his prime walk for NOTHING has NEVER happened in NFL history!!!!

There is a reason we are the first team to go 12 - 5 three straight years and not advance past the divisional round

There is a reason we are 1 of only 2 teams to not play for a NFCG in almost 30 years!

We don't have a REAL GM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not want to hear about how hard it is to sign these 3 guys. As a front office...if you cannot get them signed...what is your PLAN B???????????

Dak wouldn't accept.

That's why we're in the current predicament. Dak refused to give Dall the needed time to work w/ his contract, so now we're reduced to not improving the team as we pay Dak is salary. And there's 40 mil more to come next year.

Right. We should make this his contract for remainder of his career. Like 7 years or something closer to Mahomes 10 year deal.

Most likely he’ll never be here to see it thru but it lays the burden on end of contract. Give him a 100 million signing bonus, whatever. We have the cash. We gave him 66 last time . Who cares. It doesn’t go against the Cap.

Why would you say that?

Dak: 55 mil
CD: 33 mil
Parsons: 35 mil

That's 123 mil. Cap is around 250 mil.

Are you quibbling over a few percentage point? Fine, it's only 48%. Happy now?
