How do you build around 3 players making up 50% of Cap?

Salaries are irrelevent. All that matters is the total cap hit.

I would imagine teams have gone to huge bonuses because they're easier to kick down the road?
Yeah option bonuses, paid by whatever team holds his contract that year. So Howie has built in the ability to Wentz him every year after year 2

6m$ first year of deal

13m$ second year of deal

21m$ third year of deal

31m$ fourth year of deal, then we have an out to dump or extend him
Correct. And by then you'll know whether you want to or not. Well done on the contract.

And there's the problem. We get Stephanie doing contracts. He might be good at contracts in general, but NFL contracts are like none others in business.

By insisting on a shorter term contract that can't be worked w/. That's why his cap hits are 59 mil this year and 40 mil next season.
Then it sounds like you are saying Dak did not want to be here past this season...and if that was the case...you should have moved him before it got to this!

But I think Dak wanted a shorter contract to maximize the number of bites he could get from the apple...and either you want to pay or you don't. If you don't.....then you should have NEVER let it come to this!

The smartest thing they did was pay him after his 3rd year. He had 1 really low paid rookie year mixed into his extension. It was 5 years 255M. But it was like 260M spread out over 6 years. So he's really only around 43M on average.

Absolutely. Dak played Greedy ball, and it is costing us dearly this season, and prolly next. You simply cannot have a player at the QB position who puts his greed over the team. It won't work.

This is what we are looking at if we resign Lamb, Prescott and Parsons.

Even our dysfunctional ownership has mentioned this in our 1st week at Training Camp.

I’m not sure any Franchise has ever attempted such a task?

We couldn’t build around them on Rookie contracts , how do you if they are about half of your Cap. I’m all ears people!!
You’ve been around long enough to of read how the cap means nothing, 50% 70% doesn’t mean anything according to our resident cap gurus. The 55 million and 40 million cap hits for Dak this and next season is Jerry’s fault according to the same people who keep telling us the cap is a myth. Others posters say most of the players on the team are a bunch of jags not sure how you pay 5 or 6 guys most of the cap and expect a championship team. The bill comes due at some point. I can’t wait to read how you do this I’m waiting just like you.

The cap myth people are the strangest group I've seen. Flat earth theory people, same group.

How do fans still fall for Jerry and Stephen press conference hyperbole and half-truths?

Dak, CeeDee and Parsons combined contracts will never equal 50% of Cap in any season......

The Cap ALWAYS goes up....

Dak Haters are weird

Prescott has to be willing to kick his contract down the road for Cap implications. Pay him a HUGE signing bonus. More than the 66 million he got last time. And by the end of the deal we can have drafted his heir apparent.

I dont see any other way unless you’re prepared to let one walk. And I’d keep Parsons over Lamb.

Yea , we can let Prescott walk but then you’re probably reduced to less than a playoff caliber QB until you find another one .
Based on results the last 8 seasons Dallas doesn’t have a playoff caliber QB, how quickly folks forget about 2017 2018 and the QB struggling with wr 2 types this when he had arguably the best RB in the league:

Because once he got Cooper, Lamb, and Gallup, he became a great QB!!! Miraculous.

Even if they get the money you showed, it adds up to 49% on average. But it will never even be that high in any given year. Not even close to 50%.
Jerry and Stephen Jones know half of the fan base are weirdos.....who QB worship :lmao:
