How do you build around 3 players making up 50% of Cap?

so nobody wins the superbowl if they have three stars they are paying? so KC didn't win the superbowl with Jones, Mahomes and Kelce? interesting...
That’s a disingenuous argument. Travis Kelce as the highest paid TE is making like 15m$ a year.

So yeah, if you can convince CeeDee Lamb to take a salary that’s lower than even his 17m$ fifth year option; sure, you figured out how to get it to work.

Right. We should make this his contract for remainder of his career. Like 7 years or something closer to Mahomes 10 year deal.

Most likely he’ll never be here to see it thru but it lays the burden on end of contract. Give him a 100 million signing bonus, whatever. We have the cash. We gave him 66 last time . Who cares. It doesn’t go against the Cap.
Yes it does. All money paid to player goes toward the cap. What do you think the 40 mil we're paying him next year is? Bonuses kicked down the road.

Then DON'T re-sign them. And start doing GM work to leverage their value to build out the rest of the team!!!!

Letting a franchise QB in his prime walk for NOTHING has NEVER happened in NFL history!!!!

There is a reason we are the first team to go 12 - 5 three straight years and not advance past the divisional round

There is a reason we are 1 of only 2 teams to not play for a NFCG in almost 30 years!

We don't have a REAL GM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not want to hear about how hard it is to sign these 3 guys. As a front office...if you cannot get them signed...what is your PLAN B???????????
Drew Brees. Kirk Cousins.

Because they're not going to be 50% of the cap.
Even our ownership has said this week their concern over making 3 stars close to 50% of their Cap. I read it in the paper I’m not allowed to link.

Dak wouldn't accept.

That's why we're in the current predicament. Dak refused to give Dall the needed time to work w/ his contract, so now we're reduced to not improving the team as we pay Dak is salary. And there's 40 mil more to come next year.
you just ruined my morning!!

Right. That’s what I mean. I just meant the signing bonuses don’t hit cap immediately .

Like Daks first 3 years of contract Cap hits were 17, 19 and 26 mil which allowed available Cap space . Not now in final year at 59.5.

What about the 49ers and Eagles? Especially next year with Purdy.
Looney Tunes contracts

Jalen’s contract breaks OveTheCap.com with how weird it’s worded. His salary is 1m$ a year for the next 5 years

Don’t drink the kool aid. The Eagles have 10 of 11 players on offense making top 5ish money. The cowboys can do it, they’re just too cheap to do so

I don't care what our owners said, I'm telling you they're now going to be 50% of the cap. Not in any single year. Our owners are trying to be dramatic.

All they are doing is taking the average of the extensions. That will never be the cap hits, and it's not even the correct average. They're 0 for 2, but since most people don't pay any mind to the cap, they'll get people to believe it.

And 40 mil plus whatever he signs for next season.

Strange how so many fans cannot comprehend how badly Dak screwed us w/ his contract.

His final year has that kind of cap hit because BOTH sides assumed he would get his deal re-worked to free up cap space.

The market is what it is. Dallas does not think they should have to pay market prices. I wonder if Jerry charges market prices for tickets, parking, hot dogs, beer, jerseys etc....

This is what we are looking at if we resign Lamb, Prescott and Parsons.

Even our dysfunctional ownership has mentioned this in our 1st week at Training Camp.

I’m not sure any Franchise has ever attempted such a task?

We couldn’t build around them on Rookie contracts , how do you if they are about half of your Cap. I’m all ears people!!
Don't give Parsons a new deal this year. Wait until next year. Let Dak go after this year, yes, he has a dead cap of $40 million next year but that's far less than the $55+ million he'd be paid if he got a new deal. And yes, Parsons will cost more (probably) next year if he's still as good as he's been, but realistically I don't think the market can be ignored, Parsons could get 25 sacks and be league MVP and (probably) wouldn't get a tremendous amount more than he could demand this year, certainly more of course.

Of course, even that would be a bad situation, but that's about all I could see...

And are in the process of imploding because they did so. Has nothing to do w/ being cheap, I have no idea where you'd get that from.

The Eagle let walk 4 starting D players and their starting RG in order to sign O players. And it caused them to fall apart.

The Eagles are an example why not to sign O players to huge contracts. Why would you think they're an example of why to sign them?

How did he screw us? Again, not a Dak lover or hater. But when he was making 500k his rookie year and leading us to a 13 - 3 season, was anyone complaining about who was getting screwed?

This is BUSINESS. And no one knows that better than Jerry. Which is WHY he makes sure he gets his BUSINESS straight FIRST. Then leads us to believe greedy players are making life too hard for him!

Salaries are irrelevent. All that matters is the total cap hit.

I would imagine teams have gone to huge bonuses because they're easier to kick down the road?

By insisting on a shorter term contract that can't be worked w/. That's why his cap hits are 59 mil this year and 40 mil next season.

I hate hate hate this!!!! I think the hit should be the biggest and then as the contract goes on, it should be at the lower end. Pay him while he's just coming off the good season, not at the end of the deal where he could be the worst, and you're having to pay 59.5 for bad play!
