Belacheck will be a great hire, esp since Jerry will micromanage his every move just like all coaches since Jimmy Johnson. It literally doesn’t matter who coaches here since Jerry will undermine their every move. Now Belachek may be willing to coach for Jerry for a price and he will happily cash his checks while Jerry strips him of all power the other 31 NFL head coaches have, but that is another matter. Until Jerry is singing with the choir eternal, it doesn’t make any difference who our figurehead/scapegoat is.

The Cowboys aren’t a HC away from a Super Bowl and Bill is going to be 73 by the start of next season.
Go for a coach that can build something going forward, not a guy that will be in a retirement home in 5 years.

Ben Johnson or Bobby Slowik + a vet DC with head coach experience

I am curious if Bill's dollar figure is an issue.

If his age is such an issue, I bet the gap between what he thinks he should be worth and what FO's think they can bid him down to is huge.

He was 20m+ in New England...would be really interested to know what that figure is today

-For all of his accolades and string of SB achievements, Belichek ran off GOAT and best QB in NFL history in Brady,..and owner Bob Kraft could not wait to
get rid of him. Very difficult personality to deal with. Both with QB, and with ownership.

- He could not do anything for that dreaded offense once Brady left, he led the NFL draft and he was hideous, he ruined 1st rd pick QB Matt Jones, and his selection of OC's was horrible. and knowing his ego, he's gonna want majority of personnel player control - which means he's gonna clash with Wil McClay , which could spell McClay's departure.

- And that's just McClay,... Belly's very controlling ego driven, difficult personality is not gonna see eye to eye with the equally controlling Jones family.

- And if Belly could not get along with GOAT Brady, .. what is he gonna do with Dak Prescott ..?

- i just think he's at the end decline of his career, and would be in better place where he could demand total control.

i really feel the Jones are gonna want a offensive guru to re-vamp the highest paid player in NFL in Dak Prescott . - and the highest paid WR in Lamb

Could that be ben Johnson, Bob Slovick, the hottest NFL asst. names now . (OC Clint Kubiak's struggling Saints offense has lost a ton of stock now) ...

But I also tend to think the Jones maybe such a stubborn set- in- their -ways element,.. that they may insist on a retread on an old age 70+
vet HC regardless of offense or defense. (ala Belichek, Pete Carroll)

i dare not say Jon Gruden, ...whose offense is a similarity of this McCarthy tex Coast offense

Unless Tom Brady comes with him he won’t win no matter where he ends up. That’s if he gets another head coaching opportunity and I’m not convinced he will. There were plenty of openings after last season and no one was interested in him. Teams are looking for younger head coaches. The old coaches are getting pushed out. Andy Reid has a great team and QB, so don’t try and use him to make an argument.

But Bill can start something worth building on. Bring him in to set the foundation. Get his program and culture in place, watch him break the all time wins record, and let him pick his successor. A younger guy will just be another puppet.

I'll take Belichick over McCarthy 8 days a week, twice on Sundays.

I would like to understand before it happens though who his OC and OL Coach choices are. I don't want the stench of McDaniels, Matt Patricia, and several others anywhere near this already compromised franchise.

You think Jerry Jones is going to let Belichick
pick his successor? They’re all puppets, old and young under the Joneses. In the years, Bill Parcells was here we won nothing. He found us some good players, but only two playoff appearances and they were both one and done. Unless the Joneses change the way they run the team nothing will change with the next head coach regardless who it is. With Jerry pulling all the strings it’s going to lead to the same results we’ve been seeing for three decades.

Is that more so becuz Belly was not interested in those NFL teams ?.... or those NFL teams not interested in Belichek ?

i think it will have to be inquiring NFL teams that are very open to allowing Belly to have personnel control.
Much like he had in NE.

Parcells set a standard and culture that stuck around until McCarthy was hired. Remember the scouting dept and personnel acquisition tendencies before he showed up vs after? It's degraded over the years, but we still see hints of it today. You bring Belichick in as a refresher to correct course and finish what Parcells started. Thats how you sell it to Jerry.

He knows time is running out, and his ego knows what kind of legacy will be left behind if he were to go out today. A guy like JJ loves praise above all else. If he continues down the current path, he'll be the most hated owner in history. He's also on the verge of losing his fanbase. He knows he has to do something drastic. He's done it before, and it feels alot like those days right now. Why wouldn't he conced knowing all of this?

Like most HC's , Belly is gonna want to go with asst. coaches he's more familiar with . The McDaniels, O'Briens, Patricias, will come
with the Belichek package.

There will be seven or eight head coach openings between now and 2025. The Cowboys, because of Jerry Jones, will not be considered a desired opportunity. The top new head coach candidates will go elsewhere. Slowik and B. Johnson will know better than to entertain, even for a moment, working in the unique FO hierarchy utilized by the Dallas Cowboys franchise.

Gruden will not have many opportunities. My guess is he’d jump at it. I just don’t think Jerry is interested the baggage that comes with him.

Parcells set a standard and culture that stuck around until McCarthy was hired? I’m sorry, but that’s hilarious! Lol Once you change head coaches they put their imprint on the team. Everything they do is going to be different than the previous coach. There’s been a culture problem with the Cowboys for many years, which is why they continue to spin their wheels. No way is Jerry going to buy what you’re trying to sell to me. There’s a youth movement in the NFL with younger head coaches taking over. Old coaches like Belichick and Pete Carroll were pushed out.

The Cowboys need a head coach they can build a long future with. The coaches that built long futures in the NFL were younger coaches when they took over. Mike Tomlin in Pittsburgh. Harbaugh in Baltimore. Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco. They have a young coach in Houston that’s turning them around. Dan Campbell in Detroit. Jerry needs to hire a younger coach and take a step back. Stop talking to the media all the time and giving medical reports. Stop saying who’s going to play and who isn’t. Allow his head coach to do all that. He has to stop undermining his coaches so the players respect them.

Its all about Jerruh's comfortability. Why you hear Garrett and Zimmer's name so much. IF you're expecting new, or at least updated, the best I see happening is someone like Kellen Moore. I could see someone like Deion before Slowik or Johnson, and I love both those candidates. Big Bill is probably the best of the retread market for what it's worth, and I'd like it a whole lot more than the McCarthy hire. Of the options Jerruh would HONESTLY consider, he's probably the best. I pray for innovative and fresh, but I'm sure we'll be settling for less

It’s not an exciting hire, but he might be the only guy that can give the Jones boys reality checks.

He’s not some new nervous coach trying to earn the job. BB can be straight up with them; he doesn’t need Dallas, Dallas needs him for a reality dose

What's leftover from Parcells? Structure. This franchise thrived on chaos from the time Jerral bought the team, up until Parcells was brought on board. Under Bill, everyone had a defined role with set expectations. Players played football, coaches had authority, scouting department was/is thorough and detail oriented, and unfortunately Jerral had the final say. Wade Phillips and Jason Garret followed a similar approach. The players mutinied under Philips and Garrett couldn't get over the hump, but both were weak head coaches. That structure is what allowed Garrett to last a long as he did. "Trust the process". Garrett sucked as a HC, but his teams were talented enough and tough enough to carry him to the playoffs fairly regularly. The asylum ran the inmates.

Under McCarthy, we've seen the opposite. Look at what we've seen in the media with Micah, Dak, and CeeDee. Look at what we're seeing on the field this year, a year where everything is supposed to fall into place for a coach. It's freakin anarchy in that locker room, on the sideline, and on the field. The inmates are running the asylum, just as they did before Parcells.

With that said, what good is a younger coach going to do if he's inheriting a rough roster full of overpaid, undisciplined divas and has to run every move by Jerral? What experience does said coach have to lean on to guide him through those sorts of challenges. All of the coaches you've named never had to deal with Jerry Jones as owner. He's a massive handicap that makes life difficult for everyone around him. A young coach isn't going to be able to command his respect. If there's no respect, he will run all over any coach. We've seen this. We are seeing this. What I'm taking about is bringing in Belichicks structure and culture, because they're proven winners, and even Jerral can't deny that. You get the ball rolling and continue that coaching tree here. It's the best shot we have at building a championship level franchise with Jerry Jones in charge.

I agree with what you're saying, but I don't think it's realistic. Jerry Jones and his ego have been our undoing for near 3 decades. To think he would take a step back and let a young buck run his show is naive. It has to be someone that he respects. Belichick is a legend. It's a perfect fit for the restructure that this franchise needs. Let Bill pave the road and pad his win column, and pick a young, promising coach from his coaching tree to carry the torch. You get your great young coach with mentorship from the best NFL coach ever. How is that not a grand slam move?

Lots of talk about Belicheat coming to coach our Cowboys. Both in the media and especially in here. How about a sort of mid-season bye week poll to see what everyone is thinking? It's not a given that McCarthy will be gone after this season. However, if he is, then a replacement is needed. So, how do you feel about Belicheat as the successor to McCarthy? Only one vote and it will be visible publicly.
Gruden.
I dunna say tha because he's the best choice but Gruden is most likely to wow Yoda with Star Wars II Nouveau West Coast offenses.
Good chaps all, Yoda is easily wowed by coaches.
Recall the Chan Gailey seminar for Yoda?

Yeah that’s going swimmingly in New England….Bill left them in a pretty terrible spot with his roster building post Brady. Remember this is a guy that picked Mac Jones as a franchise QB. Not to mention that the history of Bellicheck assistants becoming HC’s isn’t good either
