I saw who voted terrible hire....I laughed at many that I expected to think that way, but I was surprised by a few....I think we need a true HC at this point, to right the ship and groom a successor. A young coach with a long career ahead of him, would not have what it takes to go against Jerry. Go ahead and laugh.....lol

Is anyone in this thread willing to educate readers that dont understand why so many are repeating the 'go young' approach?

Can anyone in the know tell me the top 5 things that have occurred or that are occurring in football coaching at the pee-wee, middle school, high school and college level that take BB way out of the equation for being considered as a coach for you?

What are the coaches at the non-professional level doing that makes professional NFL vet coaches out of touch with whats going on at the experimental level of coaching?

I can MAYBE see the "He's old and out of touch with the way the game is being played now" if you could prove to me that pee-wee, middle school, high school and college are playing a game that looks like Razzle Dazzle and not traditional football....but thats not the case from the High School football I watched a week or so ago.

So...if the game has not changed significantly....the "old and out of touch" argument doesnt resonate with me.

Health - BB is old and has a higher chance of having a medical emergency than a 38 year old...this is true. But...he does not sound old, slow, senile or out of touch with football when he talks. He is just as good as a 38 year old in my book.

Relatable - If kids now a days only want young coaches they can be friends with...why have any coach over 50 in the NFL?

Stuck in his ways - If BB is old and stuck in his ways...maybe its because at the professional level you cant be a wild gun-slinger with risk or you lose your good coaching job. Now that ANALYTICS is backing up some of these coaching calls as being smart and not risky, but considered good risk...ALL coaches can take calculated risks without the fear of getting fired. I think money and fear of losing a good job is a major reason why PROFESSIONAL NFL COACHES get stuck in their ways...not because they are not innovative, but because of the perception that certain things were considered risky, but not so much anymore.

All in all...it sounds like the 'go young' is more about trying to tell someone how to think as opposed to it being backed up with valid arguments or data. Its just words.

I chose option three, Leaning against him as next coach. Any incoming head coach would automatically have the Jerry Jones Handicap attached to them.

Belichick is certainly qualified as a head coach. Win or fail, any head coach (and starting quarterback) must be seen as the sole leader of the team. That is a hard group-centric perception to maintain with The Crypt Keeper using practice fields as helicopter landing pads.

Would love to have an up and comer like Ben Johnson, or Slovak, but Jerry and Stephen would eat them alive. Jealous as hell of Minny, Houston, and Detroit.

But having said that Bill would bring back accountability. Mike is a fine coach, but he’s only allowed to do so much. I would love to see what he could do with Micah.
true bill would probably use micah in much better ways. he has been wasted here so far.
Bill would roll out a much more prepared team , they wouldnt look so stupid like now lol.

60 % against him lol ........pitiful

Get a young coach.

Enough of the retreads.
A young coach would just be happy to have the job and be EASILY pushed around by star players and Jerry. As long as Jerry is alive and this roster is full of softies, Belichick is the guy to turn things around. A young guy can come in once Jerry's gone

Lots of talk about Belicheat coming to coach our Cowboys. Both in the media and especially in here. How about a sort of mid-season bye week poll to see what everyone is thinking? It's not a given that McCarthy will be gone after this season. However, if he is, then a replacement is needed. So, how do you feel about Belicheat as the successor to McCarthy? Only one vote and it will be visible publicly.
We NEED to go younger at HC and OC because these old school guys can't keep up!

Keep seeing this
Context.......he and Brady were together for 11-12 years? His final 2-3 years w/o Brady were not good but he didn't have a QB. In other words, if he had replaced Brady with a top 10 AND still struggled, I can understand the statement but to say he can't coach after all he's accomplished based on 2 years w/o Brady doesn't make sense to me.
I get what your saying but I didn't understand the hype when he got the Patriots gig. He was a good coach but nothing super spectacular or anything, hence my statement about him being good but not great. After all he is the one who selected Brady's replacement but got nothing out of him and his replacement qb was a 1st rnd pick. Brady was a 7th(?). I still believe that we should get Detroit's OC

This is where we disagree ........man, you could run their offense with all the weapons they have. Ben has only 2 years of experience as an OC.
Jerry and Stephen would eat him alive but that's just my opinion.

He kind of reminds me of drafting QBs from Ohio State or Alabama........teams soo loaded that they make a jag QB look better than he is.

Hire Mike Vrabel as HC and bring in mini-hoodie (Josh McDaniels) as OC. McDaniels is a crappy HC but a good OC and its likely that no team will ever want him as an HC again no matter how well his offense plays. I picked "leaning against" having BB as HC.

You can bring back 1992 Jimmy Johnson and it won't matter.

What was his record after Brady left? PS. Awful was his record. Great coach, great record, but that was then, this is now. Nope.
Who has a "great" record as coach AFTER their franchise QB left the team. Who is this hidden gem that's coming to Dallas. Please tell us.

I don't think Ben Johnson would come here in a million years. Did you see the look of disgust and disdain he had last week. Most newer, younger hotshot coaching prospects would never work for JJ. Everyone outside of Dallas looks at this team as a joke. Only an older, confident coach could make things better

The only young coach we're going to get is a "yes" man who's happy to be employed, kinda like McCarthy.
He's not going to be an innovative coach who will want to take this franchise in a new direction.
Jerry won't allow it.
As much as I want a new kid on the block, at least what you get with Belichick is a respect factor.
Jerry may give him a latitude that a young coach won't get.
And, Belichick can instill something this team desperately needs: Discipline!
I'm tired of false starts and holding penalties within the red zone.
I'm tired of players being out of position.
I'm tired of seeing receivers loafing on their routes.
BB will fix that.
Just don't let him have sole control over the draft.
He's picked some doozies.
