Meh, no offense man, but as much as you like to label people as homers, you're being a Garrett homer. I have no idea why you think he's anything more than average as a coach.

So let's say in some alternate universe Sean Payton got this job a couple years ago. You seriously don't think we'd be any better? That makes no sense.

I don't know that Garrett's a good head coach. I just know he has no chance here with this flawed roster and the two headed monster in charge of this team.

Here's what really makes no sense. You want to do what we've done countless times over the years to fix the same problem. And every time we've done it it's failed. Right now it's Garrett. Before that it was Wade. Trust me, you will blame the next head coach for issues that he has no control over.

This is a mantra that has no voice.

LOL at you thinking you know better than I do about what I say.

It's funny, I never heard this "coaching doesn't matter as long as Jerry is the GM" mantra until Garrett got the job. Then a bunch of his fanboys started spouting it.

As much of a problem as Jerry is organizationally, he doesn't make us be near the bottom of the league in penalties as we have for years until today. He doesn't make WRs commit mental errors on hot routes. He doesn't make us always "take what the defense gives us". He doesn't make us run the ball nine times against a terrible rushing defense. He doesn't freeze his own kicker or burn 30 seconds off the clock to settle for 52 yard FGs in the wind.

This team might not ever win another Super Bowl while Jerry is here, but as long as we have Romo and a lot of other talent, we can be a lot better than we have been. To say an all-time great like Lombardi couldn't do any better than Jason Garrett is utter nonsense. In fact, you can't actually believe that. It has to be shtick.

As long as Garrett is here, about the same as it's been.

If we got a coach who actually got more out of our talent, it would be a lot better.

So you believe Garrett's players are UNDERACHIEVING? Which ones? Anthony Spencer, Miles Austin, Demarcus Ware, Jay Ratliff, Brian Waters? I've heard a lot of criticisms about Garrett but I never heard one that he doesn't get more out of his talent. You could argue he gets TOO much out of it. He has a .500 roster with injuries at 5-4.

But I guess this goes back to how fans underrate their talent. I actually tuned into Deadskins radio and I couldn't believe how many people calling in felt like Shanahan was underachieving and that the Deadskins had enough talent to be a Super Bowl contender. I guess every teams fans feel this way though. I guess its because most fans don't really get a grasp of what other teams are throwing out there since its hard to watch all their games.

There's a lot of truth to what you say. There's a lot of truth to what Risen Star says.

Admittedly, the coaches who can win at a high level with Jerry as GM are few and far between, but we know they exist.

I'm still hoping Garrett is that coach. What a statement he could make by winning tomorrow night, eh?

Did you just say the circus atmosphere Jerry creates and his constant undermining of his coaching staff doesn't lead to sloppy on field play?

No coach would win with this team. It's far too weak in the trenches. It's a fatal flaw. Not to mention no coach could win being undermined by a lunatic owner. It's never happened in the history of the league and it's not happening now. A coach must command his own locker room. He must be able to instill discipline in his team. That leads to precision and clean play.

Garrett can't do that here so he can't win. Regardless of whether or not he can be a good head coach. We wouldn't know that until/unless he gets another opportunity.

Sean Payton sucked here. He was terrible. OMG, please leave. Then he arrived in a sane football world and take a look at him now.

Don't know if your are being sarcastic or serious lol !
Mari has done a great job, Kiffin's defense is getting eatin alive almost weekly ...

Both but under all conditions considered [1st year,,dline decimation and secondary injuries] their operating at a admirable level.
However,this **** can't go on for ever.

Jerry does not undermine his coaches and ever coach who has worked for Jones says so after they left the team. This is old school dogma B.S. that continues to stream from the mouths of old school leather helmet era.

I am more impressed by what the defensive coaches are doing with this rag-tag group. They have somewhat of an excuse but our offensive coaches do not, they are relatively healthy. This is the O-line they felt comfortable starting the season with, that is on Garrett, Jerry and Callahan.

some what agree however, Jones was caught in cap hell. Jones did put himself in that place and has done so repeatedly too long.

I cant see how someone would look at the job Kiffin and Mari have done and not be enthused

Dallas...................31st ranked defense.
Dallas...................has allowed 4 different QBs to pass for over 400 yards each, an NFL single season record.
Dallas...................allowed Stafford to pass for 488 yards, which is a new franchise record for most passing yards allowed in a single game.
Dallas...................allowed Megatron 329 receiving yards, again a new franchise record for most receiving yards allowed in a single game.
Dallas...................has allowed 36 passing plays of 20 yards or more
Dallas...................has allowed 32 running plays of at least 10 yards or more
Dallas...................First team in NFL history to lose when scoring 45 or more points at home.

Cant say I am enthused about our defensive performance this year.........LOL

I don't see how anyone could possibly be pleased. This is a historically bad defense.

Probably a steady decline, sorry to say. As long as Jerry Jones owns the team, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I don't see much of an improvement. He's a great business man, lousy GM.

You beat me to it. You just said it more eloquently than I would have.

WAT !!! He may not think he's undermining, but every time he's strolling on the sidelines, he does just that. The players know who's in charge. They do not feel responsible for their play. They do not answer to the HC. They know Jerry Jones will come down, pat them on the heads, and tell them they did a good job ... regardless of the outcome.

This is not BS. It's pyschology 101.

Jerry will probably get a QB early hoping this works but it won't make any difference - just more jersey sales

sad to think her cares more about making money than he does making a great football team

For sake of argument, I am referring to the next 2 years.
In my opinion, what you see is what you got.
Because of the high cap hits we are carrying on the older vets, I don't see us as players
in free agency the next 2 years.
Stephen Jones has said as much.
We will be doing well to tie up our good young players like Dez.

I also have concern about our older players declining in performance due to age and injury, ie D. Ware.

Really the only potential changes I see would be draft picks coming in , and , or coaching changes.

So do you feel optimistic or pessimisic about our future ?

What facts would support your position ?

Have to build through draft. Look for Cowboys to draft DT and guard in first four rounds of draft.
