How Do You Like To Eat Potatoes

Have them mashed, scalloped, boiled, baked, roasted or fried. The options are endless w/casseroles, soups, & sides, but the most popular will always be french fries, chips & mashed potatoes.

At this end, it varies. I can make some mean homefries for breakfast.

French Fries = McDonald's
Steak Dinner = Baked w/Butter & Sour Cream
Potato Salad = German Style
 
I love good homemade mashed potatoes. I really haven't eaten any good restaurant mashed potatoes.
My mother, my ex-wife, my daughter, and I make outstanding mashed potatoes IMHO, and they are so easy to make. My wife was raised in the South, but her parents were from Canada and Maine so she didn't have a Southern upbringing and it's why she doesn't understand how to make a good pot of mashed potatoes.
 
Potatoes are the best! I don't know if I have a favorite way to eat 'em, just depends on my mood. I love the hash browns at Bill Miller's and there's a BBQ joint down the street that makes a killer Baked Potato casserole. The best FF I've ever had were from this old school drive-in called The Triangle, across the street from the Middle school, they musta used dinosaur sized potatoes cuz you'd get some FF that were a foot long. They cut them not too thin, not too thick.....just right and would dredge them with a magically seasoned corn flour. They were crispy, crunchy and just the right amount of spice. Man I miss that place. :(
 
Fries are the spud of choice, followed by country fried potatoes w/onions and roasted garlic either red new potatoes or little Yukon Gold's. I like texture and don't care for mashed potatoes, I don't like soft food.

This is one lady that does know how to make a mean batch of mashed potatoes. I toss in some sour cream along w/the milk & butter. I like them w/pork & sauerkraut best.

I'm from Ireland - we eat potatos with most meals.

Mash - use a nice fiirm potato like a rooster or kerr pink - some other varieties have a very soapy texture when mashed. Boil in plain water until soft enough to mash. Add a generous knob of butter and some whole milk when mashing.

New potatos are nice when boiled in their jackets - just add a knob of butter.

I've gotten into the habit recently of lightly frying left over boiled baby potatos with onions - cut the potatos in half before frying. Goes well with steak.
 
1. Stir fried with onions, salt, and pepper
2. Stir fried with onions, paneer cheese, and curry
3. Stir fried with mixed vegetables and Asian stir fry sauce

Last para is what we call country fried and if you really want to improve them, cut them while still warm from the boiling, put them back in the pot and shake them and rough them up so the edges are rough and they will get all crispy when fried

To be fair, corn tries. It's just not potatoes and doesn't come close to comparing. Most whiskeys and bourbons are made with at least 51% corn. It makes a lot of dishes too. It makes popcorn. So it tries. It's just not Potatoes.

Like comparing a bunch of amateur players, a pretty good player and the GOAT at that position in a sport.

Yep corn liquors, popcorn, fritos, tortilla chips, nachos, tacos, cornbread, grits, Mexican street corn, corn nuts etc. It may not be the GOAT but's still a HOFer.
I like throwing some corn in with my mashed potatoes, that's an All-Star team right there! :thumbup:
