Im only 24, but I always had my steaks well done until a couple months ago. I ordered medium rare and cant imagine eating a well done steak again, and every time I went out to eat, all I order is mad- rare steak. I cant get enough of it.

Medium-rare, a little salt and pepper, done.

Well-done steaks, and the goopy obnoxious sauces that people put on them to make them palatable are a crime against the cow that died to make that leathery meal possible.

Here's the thing.
Well done is dead.
I mean you have burnt out just about all the taste//flavor. Only to be had again with condiments and sauces and rubs and what have you...l but then you are not eating the steak.

You don't have to have it rare or medium rare.
Depending on where you go to eat or what chart you are going by.... Your steak shoddy at the very least have enough pink and juice that you taste THAT STEAKS flavor.

Highest flavor steaks.
Roast Prime rib/rib eye aka Cowboy steak ;-)
Skirt steak

Honorable mention: porterhouse steak (has the little piece of filet to compliment the shell portion of the steak.

Hands down those two steaks can be made with minimum condiments/streak sauce. For me steak sauce is taboo. Again, it's. It the steak.

Don't fall for filet mignon is the best ever. It's not. It's just a soft steak. So they jazz it up. No taste by itself.

Stay away from ny strip/sirloin. Overhyped just under filet mignon.

Depends on the cut for me.

Porterhouse/T-Bone - MR or Med
Ribeye - Med
Filet Mignon - depends on the mood and if anything is on top of it.
a. no topping - rare or MR
b. lump crab or Gorgonzola cheese - med

Who am I kidding, can eat any steak from black-n-blue to burnt to a crisp..........but prefer nothing over medium.

I don't even bother with sirloins or that tri-tip stuff.

Tear it's horns off, wipe it's *** and throw it on the plate.

Actually, I like mine medium well. (light pink inside) I don't like my steaks tasting like iron.

Holy smokes!

That crap takes like crap.... It's amazing that it "covers" a bad steak..with a bad taste.

Yuck. I would rather eat wood chips.

I think I tasted once probably 30 years ago. I've never tasted it since. If I get a steak that is that bad, I just don't eat the steak.

I usually ask for medium, but I have no problem with medium rare or medium well either. So, basically anything but raw or burnt is fine with me. :)

Depends on the steak really. Each steak, depending on fat content and fibre content is cooked differently to achieve the best experience. Of course, personal preference also comes into play here so there is no one single correct answer.

The important thing is to determine what you like and then figure out what the best way to cook a cut of meat is, so as to achieve that goal.

I'm mildly shocked that it took 24 years to figure out medium rare is a decent way to eat a steak. Congratulations on the discovery Witten82.
