that fan is either Jason Garrett trying to kiss up to Jerry, an actual fan on crack, or a staff member trying to do damage control acting as a fan. There is no other option.
So your answer is to turn back time and not do those things as a way of fixing the current problems.Draft better and use your money wisely. If you didn’t overpay for Zeke, Lawrence, Jaylon, Collins, Poe.........you wouldn’t have to worry about what Dak is making.
And wins happen how?The only stat that matters....now try to follow along.....
ARE WINS!!!
If I'm Dak I make this decision for you - I'm not signing a long-term deal with the Cowboys. Let some other sucker try to drag that team around only to get blamed when they lose 100-99.
I have been under the impression from this message board and the local dfw media that the whole point of this season was to show how great Dak was and to make sure he gets paid.
at least that is what it has felt like. Pay Dak is all I ever see from this place and guys like hill and jjt and blogging the boys etc.
Drafting Better would be a start.
not overpaying guys who suck like Lawrence, Jaylon and Crawford would be great also.
Need help?

Well, a few options so to speak:
DT/DE Tyrone Crawford $9.1M cap hit in the last year of his deal and I do not see Dallas bringing him back unless it's for a $1-2M/year deal
DE Everson Griffin $5.8M cap hit in the last year of his deal and I do not see Dallas bringing him back
LB Sean Lee $4.5M cap hit in the last year of his deal and I do not see him coming back next year
DT Dontari Poe $4.5M cap hit with $750K dead money next year so a $4M savings if cut after this season; I think Dallas releases him
LT Tyron Smith $14M cap hit next year with $8.8M in dead money so a savings of $5.2M if his health continues to decline
Carry Over Cap $23.6M
So, Dallas could have over $50M in cap space available next season with some player releases plus more if they look at restructuring some deals......however with the decision on Dak next season Dallas could either dedicate the majority of their free cap space towards helping to fix the OL & Defense or a much smaller percentage if they decide to re-sign Dak.
We have this overlapping issue it seems where we wasted the prime of our offensive line with Dak, including the previous group of receivers that got tossed out as well because of Romo's situation.
Now we have all the young talented receivers you could ask for but in this time the oline has fallen apart and the defense has a bunch of brandon carrs at literally every position.
We know what Dak cant do with lesser receivers, we know what Dak still cant do with great receivers, how do we get a jump start to fixing this team within 1-2 seasons rather than hopefully building up over several seasons, by then losing whatever talent we had left at OL, RB, and possibly WR?
The offense is already stacked vs the defense in terms of cap space used, and there's no way we could expect better results on offense if those key talents are gone so what do we do?

Yeah, if one isn't interested in what we need to do to get wins, why even clock into this thread in the first place? And wins happen how?

Very strange that you see this thread as being about Dak.The truth is that Dak requires elite offensive weapons to succeed. That is why we traded a No.1 pick for a WR in the middle of season and extended him for 100 M. That is why we paid a RB 90M. That is why we spent another No.1 pick on a WR. That is why every good OL is extended for Mega contract.
It almost feels like we are just aiming for No.1 offense and ESPN highlights.
We have never won or even made a super bowl w/o a very good D. No, not even w/ an average one. Our D has been very good every time we've made a super bowl.Tired of 40 burger games. It's not a recipe for success. It's flashy but not a long term winning formula.
Look at the Cowboy teams that have won SB in the past. Just in the 90's...... usually we win when Aikman attempts is under 30. Similar stats with Romo in the few years we won 11+ games. Our 13-3 under Dak also was the same. If Dak pass attempts under 30 usually we wins. The more pass attempts by our QB the lower our winning %.
1. Rebuild this D. Obviously from middle out. We have below average DT and old ones. LBs who can't change directions and below average safeties.
2. Trade one of our WR for a defensive piece. Should have picked up J Adams. These types of players are worth the draft picks (which often is a gamble).
3. We need to pay up for good FAs. Unfortunately the fugal spending just gets over the hill type players. We have not picked up a decent FA since ???.
4. Once we have a healthy OL we need to run better and run more. Keep pass attempts under 35..
Easier said than done of course.
