How far would you trade up for Johnny Manziel?

It seems more likely now than previously that Johnny Manziel could slide out of the top 5 draft picks. The reason is twofold. 1) The Raiders' strange trade for Matt Schaub. 2) Cleveland GM's announcement that he won't attend JM's Pro Day. (could be a smokescreen, but there you have it.) The Browns' GM apparently attended both Bridgewater and Bortles Pro Days.

So the draft could go something like:

Texans : Bortles
Rams: Matthews
Jags: Clowney
Browns: Bridgewater
Raiders: Mack
Atlanta: Robinson
Tampa: Watkins
Minnesota at 8 is the next likely qb team.

Would you consider a trade up to Atlanta or Tampa at 6 or 7 to take Manziel (or Bridgewater or Bortles). That would be about the same as the Claiborne trade. I think if JFB is top 3 or so on your draft board, don't you consider it?

no we need the bodies and we would lose at least 2nd rnd pick to do that we need all draft picks we can get

no, and Manziel isn't worth the 16th pick to me, so I would never want to trade up for him, and I really wouldn't trade up for just about anyone unless someone like Mack fell to around 10 or so...THAT would get my draft juices flowing

I would trade up to the 5th rnd... and I loved him in college.

Yeah I was hyping Johnny up before he played a down for A&M and own his college jersey......I wouldn't give up anything to get him or even pick him at 16. 1) you need a creative coach to get the most out of him.....And that certainly aint Garrett. 2) He's probably going to get hurt in the nfl. 3) we have a rather expensive QB who is more than capable of getting the job done (with help) already.

Zero spots and would not take him at 16 either.

If he was there in the 2nd I'd take him, but he won't be so that is out.

Value and need have to intersect for me in the draft or I'm trading out of the spot.

I'll reserve any judgement on Manziel until he completes his workout Thursday.

Has the OP gotten one taker yet?

We should do more polls around here instead of plain threads. It's easier to get participation.

Maybe choices of
--trade up into the top 8
--trade up between 9-15
--take him at 16 if there
--take him in the 1st round with trade down if there
--don't take him in Rd 1 at all

Only guy worth a trade up is Clowney and even that's way too rich for my blood. Someone good will be there at 16 so there's no need to give away picks.

No trade ups! If he falls to 16 take him but he is not worth the draft picks to trade up. That is, unless Dallas decides Tony is not it and the Cowboys look to the future. JM is not Romo-friendly.

I wouldn't move up one spot for any QB in the draft.
We have more than enough critcal "NOW" needs without rushing to solve "Future" needs.

So if the quarterback who is, say, third on your draft board falls to 7, you're not thinking about making the trade up?

You're going to wait a few years until you lose your way there, just take what falls to you, or have to give up more value to make a bigger leap?

To me, if Manziel falls that far and the Cowboys like him, they need to consider making the jump.

I would trade two 7ths for a 6th to draft Manziel.
