Jerry has faults, but he will usually pay for quality.
Will McClay and Quinn for example.
Jerry's biggest problem is thinking he has the ability to be a quality GM.
History has shown he doesn't.
well.... about 85% of the GMs have also shown they arent any good.

Only the Chiefs currently have a good GM.

Tom Flores recently inducted HOF won 2 SB’s without a HOF QB. Not yet anyway . ( Plunkett)

Worth noting is several of these non HOF QB’s who played for these HOF HC’s did have career days in SB and or winning SB MVP.
Mark Rypine was an MVP candidate in the year he won a SB.
Doug Williams, at the time of his SB win, I believe had the greatest single game in SB history at that time.

Phill Simms might not be in the HOF, but I think we can all agree he was very good.

The table includes the following as not since their LAST title but from their 'Joined NFL' date reference:
  • Vikings
  • Chargers
  • Titans
  • Falcons
  • Bengals
  • Jaguars
  • Panthers
  • Texans
The table should not include those particular franchises for their length of drought if the criteria is 'since their LAST title'.
Right … a “drought “ would usually be identified as teams who had won a championship before.

Like a rain drought is under the assumption it’s rained here before.

actually it says SB DROUGHT.... meaning how many years without a title. So those teams have gone X years without a title. The thread and table are accurate.
But the definition of “Drought “ is that it’s happened before .

Your facts were right. Just used the wrong description or definition which kinda negates the spin.

And the facts reveal this isn’t a championship caliber franchise any longer . The fact we have to compare ourselves to the bottom half of the league to prop us up speaks volumes.

Many franchises figured out the Cap era enough to win or at least play for some championships.
no kidding.... some team is gonna be in the SB every year.... a blind squirrel..... you know the rest. ONLY the teams with amazing QBs found the SB win any kind of regularity. We havent had Payton Manning in the salary cap. We dont have to compare ourselves to the bottom half of the league... just most of the league.

Lets see... remove the Colts, Steelers, Pats, and now KC.... there have been no true consistent SB teams.

Giants and Eagles did it 2 times.... but get real, nobody has been super consistent. Seahawks had their nice little run, and that ended real quick.
Remember how denver and the Colts were "Model," franchises???????? what a joke that was. The only thing that made them good was Payton Manning. and in both cases, as soon as he left, their great success ended.

Regardless , the Cowboys haven’t figured it out. Not yet . Not even for a mini run.

Most franchises have for at least one or two years. We are one of only a handful of franchises without at least a championship appearance in cap era .

I think "How long McCarthy should get" is a moving target. It depends on a number of things, did we show improvement this year? Were we held back by injuries? Lot of variables to consider. I think McCarthy has improved our drafting. I think our roster this year is the best roster we've fielded in a long time, and MM deserves a fair share of the credit for that. I'm looking forward to seeing MM's game calling vs KM.

MM will continue to be here as long as we keep making the playoffs. My fear is we will lose Quinn first, then MM will have a down year and he will be gone after.
Hopefully Jerry will keep Quinn happy here.

I can only think of two head coaches that had Hall of Fame coaching careers that didn’t have a Hall of Fame QB and that was Bill Parcells and Joe Gibbs. They won 5 Super Bowls between them and none of their QBs are in the Hall of Fame.
Parcels would of had one if he drafted Rodgers in the 2006 draft instead of Marcus Spears but I will digress.

He didn’t plan on sticking around long enough to win a Super Bowl had we drafted Aaron Rodgers.

I didnt sugar coat anything. I stated FACTS and the facts detract from all of your arguments... thats why you dont like facts. Far too many of you are still living in the glory days of the non salary cap years. Different world.
Exactly. Like you said, the non-salary cap years were a completely different world.

We get it. We just aren’t celebrating a mediocre era. And being one of only a handful of teams to not at least make a championship game in Cap era.

I wouldn't even bring it up now.
Agree. We don't always agree, but three days before the season opener isn't when I want to talk about the head coach's life span.

Let's play some games and see what happens. Isn't that why we follow the team? Enjoy the ride.

true , but it is a different era. The Giants and Washington defenses in the 80s and the 90s were dominant . The watered down defensive rules these days mean that the QB plays a bigger role. Heck look at cincinati with Burrow and look how far the Eagles went last year with a dual threat QB with much improved passing. Dak is not that kind of talent

It’s definitely different now. It’s a QB driven league and everyone’s throwing the ball. This is why QB salaries keep skyrocketing. As for Jalen Hurts his passing production wasn’t all that great, he had 3700 yards and only 22 TD passes. Dak is a lot better talent than some of you give him credit for. Before last season everyone on this board, even the Dak haters were saying he was better than Hurts. By the way I left out Tom Flores, he’s a Hall of Fame head coach who won a couple of Super Bowls with a non-Hall of Fame QB.
