Regardless , the Cowboys haven’t figured it out. Not yet . Not even for a mini run.

Most franchises have for at least one or two years. We are one of only a handful of franchises without at least a championship appearance in cap era .
very true. The strategy has failed . Jerry keeps saying the team should have won and luck and refereeing were an issue. But these excuses are crazy after missing even a CCG appearance in 27 years !! simply put, jerry thought he can overpower teams with offense and forgot about the defense for decades. Now we have a great defense and he still has a QB that is average to good but bad against good defenses, Which is a fatal flaw. The coach is nothing special and cannot be the differnce maker here.
If Dak fails to shine and lead this loaded team to the CCG at least ,then it will be a while for 81 year old jerry before he gets another chance to hoist the lombardi. This games in this era starts with a great QB.

Unfortunately there aren’t enough Elite QB’s to go around to 32 teams. Most of the league have to build around an average to good QB.

Unfortunately in the playoffs we’ll probably eventually face a better QB and or defense.

I’m not sure based on what we’ve seen in playoffs in recent years we have higher expectations. We are what we are. A pretty good team with some talent in key positions.

But rarely do we see teams winning championships without an Elite QB and or defense. And why 12-5 and 1-1 in playoffs might be as good as it gets.

I do agree this team might be about as good as it gets with Jethro but it doesn’t mean there aren’t better teams out there.

agree, but after seeing what dak can and cannot do in 7 years. isn't it prudent to have alternatives and not dedicate 50 mil a season to a good to average QB that folds in the playoffs ? a QB either has it or does not .

But he has enough to keep the train rolling for Jethro. Which appears to be worth more than risking getting better.

I personally dont like change for change sake. Now that Reid has wona couple of titles since he has his wonderboy, everyone declares him a master... yet he was ran out of philly.

So here is a list of the drought for each team:

17 teams have gone longer than the Cowboys without a title and 25 of the 32 teams have gone 10 years or more without a title. So it begs the question. How long does a coach get to win a title before he should be booted? A coach that has a team in the playoffs consistently doesnt forget how to coach. How many years has the great Sean Peyton been coaching? yet he only has one title.

So how many years should Mike get before he is fired? or any coach for that matter?
Jeez the season hasn’t even started and the yahoos are already calling for MM’s head. 2 days before the season.

the old guys havent figured that put yet. they still think they are living in the Landry years and playing at the Cotton Bowl and sodas and a hot dog cost you 85 cents.
Be careful now, I'm one of those old guys!
That was the good old days, when you built a great team it lasted for more than 1 or 2 seasons! You got used to seeing your favorite players and they stuck around for a few years.
I hate the salary cap and that parity garbage but you were right, the cap years were a totally different world unfortunately.

As long as he keeps winning, that’s how long

How long does Jerry have? He is the fool that ignored our biggest problem area in the offseason which was the Oline. Its week 1 and already Tyler is out and Tyron is limping around.

Okay, let's suppose the Cowboys lose the division round again.

Are you going to fire the HC that took your team to three consecutive years in the playoffs for the first time in 27 seasons? Why would you give the job to Quinn? As the DC, how was he not part of the problem?

I would say that, as long as the Cowboys make the playoffs, you keep going with McCarthy. However, if he dips to single digit wins with no playoffs, of course, he is gone.
