How many years did it take Romo to win a playoff game?

I am asking because I honestly do not know. I feel Dak will win it all this year, but if not will the same amount of patience be shown towards him as it was shown to Romo.

Some facts to consider. Dak took over a bottom feeding 4-12 team that even Romo struggled with last season as Romo threw for 5 TDs and 7 INTs. Dak has been without Dez for a good portion of the year as well as a banged up Tyron Smith. Undoubtedly this had to impact their chemistry.

Also, it is very important to note how many years it took Romo to win a playoff game even though he inherited a much better team than Dak.

This isn't a post meant to compare Romo and Dak, but rather to bring to light what Dak has taken over and posing a question to see if he will be afforded the same amount of patience from the fanbase as Romo received. What do you guys think?

The TEAM did this
2006...lost in 1st round ..Romo special teams muff (only starting QB playing special teams)...but good QB drive to get there
2007...1st round bye...lost in 2nd round ...also game of inches...Giants ended up winning the Super Bowl over the Pats.
2008..no playoffs
2009...won in round 1 vs Philly...so 1st win
then
2014...won in 1st round vs Detroit, lost round 2 to Green Bay

Dak will definitely win more playoff games than Romo did in 10 years. I mean it took Luck(who inherited a 2-14 team) what? 2 years to surpass Romos 2 playoff wins?

I haven't followed this as closely as some of you, but I do follow the Cowboys closely now. I seem to recall the media questioning when Romo would win a playoff game. I also don't believe Romo inherited a 4-12 type team but I could be wrong.

Most would say Dak inherited a team that could go 12-4 with a very good QB at the helm (and maybe a better RB). Which they did the year before.
Dak, with his outstanding play, has proven them right.

Anyway, Romo began starting a few games into the 2006 season. The team wasn't playing well so Parcell inserted some young blood.
Dallas went on a tear and ended up making the playoffs. They played Seattle in Seattle and lost in the closing minutes 21-20.
Romo lead Dallas on a drive down to the Seattle 1 or 2 yard line where Witten was stopped inches from the first down (some say he made it).
Dallas elected to take the FG and the lead (but there would be time left for Seattle to answer). Romo--the only starting QB of 32 in the league asked to hold for special teams--fumbled the new ball that Seattle inseerted into the game. People still blame him as a QB for that special teams muff. The NFL changed the rules after that on balls used for kicking. Teams can use their won ball for FGs now.

Dak did not inherit a 4-12 team either. It was just the opposite the year before, 2015 was a disaster but it was not a perennial 4 win team.

I know this is a sheep in wolf's clothing type of thread but Romo was/is a very good QB. This team is winning in large part due to Zeke and the running game, Dak is playing good but Romo could do the same if he started out healthy.

Dak should get his playoff wins but there is a lot more to winning in the post-season than just the QB.

You'd think that'd be obvious. Guys like Sanchez early in his career or Dilfer later in his loaded up on wins with monster defenses leading the way.
But there will always be those counting QB playoff wins, as if it's that simple.

That's a gospel truth. Some people have partial or total tunnelvision about how wins or losses occur regardless whether they happen during the regular or post season.

No offense, but QBs make or break the team. Tunnel vision is saying "well this QB threw for 2 TDs and has a good 4th quarter QB rating so he isn't the reason we lost!"

Every NFL team has good players. Romo's teams were full of superstars. His fans like to point the finger at everyone but him. Are these same people going to make the same excuses for Dak? I doubt it which was the point of this post.

If we are going to be fair about this, Dak should be given the same amount of time Romo was given to produce a winner. Dak has been given far less than Romo was given to work with... And has done more.

Your love affair with Dak has gone way past creepy. Go outside and let the fresh air hit your face. There is life outside of Dak.

We even have people go as far as blaming the balls for Romo's lack of success. I only hope folks do the same for Dak.

In ways he did, were they or were they not 4-12 in 2015? Clearly having poor play from the QB spot hurt Dallas last year, Dak has shown he can play the position at a high level. 2015 Dez missed games and that hurt. 2016 Dez misses game and the Cowboys do not miss a beat.

I do agree there is more than just QB play in winning a SB it takes a team.

I would like to think had Romo started the season this team would be in the same position but taking something that did not happen and claiming what would have happened is a guess

If Dak has to hold for kicks on special teams and he muffs a key snap, I promise you that nobody in the world will blame him--as a Quarterback--for that play.
That level of negative double standard is reserved for Romo and Romo only.

I really think Dak will be treated more fairly.
Hope so anyway.

I can only say I felt the blame Tony got was uncalled for. If I was going to blame anyone for the loss in Seattle it would have been BP for such a conservative game plan vs a team whose secondary was depleted.

As for Dak, I have watched this franchise since 65 the QB is never treated fair if you do not win. From Meredith to even Aikman getting booed later in his career despite the titles he helped bring. There is nothing fair about being the Dallas Cowboys QB
