How much money do you carry with you generally

Never carry more than what a double western bacon cheeseburger meal at Carl's Jr. will cost you.

I'm in my late (very late) 50's. I use debit and credit cards, .. but I love to have cash on hand, and have between $30 - $150 depending how long since I hit the Credit Union.

BTW, .. who even cares how much money I carry in my wallet? Who wants to know? Why do you want to know?

;)

I respect that but how is that even possible? :)

Do you own your business or something? I am working at a company that uses direct deposit for salaries. And I barely withdraw any money from the bank teller. Without ATM, I would feel naked :D

I have owned my own law firm since I graduated law school over 20 years ago. Debit cards usually have a cap limiting how much can be spent on them in a day, don't they? If your card gets declined for some reason, then you are out of luck. What would happen if the banking system shut down for a period of time? How would you get to your money?

I know cash will always spend. It bugs the hell out of me that I have to have a credit card to book a hotel room. I carry credit cards with me too, but prefer to be on a cash basis.

The one thing I do use a credit card for is paying for fuel at the pump. I won't even stop at a place that doesn't have pay at the pump.

As a side note ..... in the old Cowboys stadium in Irving the ATM lines on game day would extend for what seemed like an eternity. I always wondered to myself why a person wouldn't bring enough money to buy a few beers (or more) at the stadium, and how bad they must really want a beer to wait in line for half an hour or longer to use the ATM and pay then out the wazoo to take out their own money.

Today I met a guy who had a little over one thousand dollars on him. He said he always carries that much. I said you gotta be kidding me but my friend assured me that he was in fact doing it.

It is crazy.

I barely carry 40 bucks. The most I withdraw from the bank is 100. Most of the time I have less than 10 bucks. Today I need to head to a barber and I need to stop at the bank since I only have 8 bucks in my wallet. I am not poor or anything and thank God I am doing well financially.

Carrying cash is not my thing. I don't know why. How about you guys?

Note: I admit. Silly topic. But it is a slow day in the office and I am trying to kill some time. :)

150-200 usually.

Never more then 10.....whatever spare ones I have usually end up giving to the homeless around DC
