Cowboys are Kings of Restructuring terrible Contracts. They always forget that you have to pay the Bill at some Point. Right now we still have Romo Count 9M against the Cap. Its just delaying the Problems. Than we have People who arent on the Team anymore or are old and unproductive eating a ton of Cap Space. Thats were the Cowboys are every year.

DAL is roughly 3-4m under the cap after Tagging DLawrence

How they can create space*

Restructure= R
Cut or Trade= CT*
Extend= E

TSmith...............R.............7.3m
DLaw.................E..............10m
..........................CT............17m
Dez....................R..............10m
..........................CT.............8.5m
..........................E...............8m
TFred................R...............7.4m
SLee.................R...............3m
ZMartin.............E................4m
TCrawford.........R...............3.4m
.........................CT..............1.8m
Witten..............CT...............6.9m
........................R.................3.9m
TWill...............R...................1.8m
.......................CT.................(2.5m)
LCollins............R................1.8m
OScan............CT................1.4m
Mayowa...........CT..............2.7m
Hanna.............CT................2.7m
Beasley...........CT................3.2m
Bailey..............R..................1.6m
........................CT...............3.4m
Heath..............CT................1.6m

*No June 1st cuts and No Rule of 51 savings

That is 65m in cap space with only cuts to OScan, Hanna and Mayowa

They won't do it but I don't want to hear we are in cap trouble...... we are also 65m under the cap in 2019

If there are only 3 cuts then why are there 11 guys with "cut or trade" next to their names?

Nice work, btw.

It's very nice to wish & hope but, most of you are whistling in the wind. Stephen and McClay are running the show now
and they always shop at Walmart in order to fill a few holes. If they hit on one, that's a bonus. Otherwise, they filled a hole
with a player who can be cut easily without much cap damage. They believe in building the team with draft picks which allow
you to develop players over 3 or 4 years cheaply. The days of making a splash on an expensive player who rarely exceeds the
money you pay him are over in Dallas. Stephen has said it and that's the name of that tune.

Because that has brought so much success here...They are still giving out terrible contacts to unproductive bums and are gunshy when it Comes to cutting their Pet-Cats just because they once were good like Dez, same goes for Witten.

You dont have to make splashes all the Time. But look at the Eagles. They brought in Differance Makers in Free Agency because they could afford it without having to restructure 50% of the Team...

If Bill B. is in Charge here Dez and Witten arent on the Team anymore. Not so with the sentimental Jones Family who care more about their Players than Building a Winner.

Your use of the Eagles is faulty. Last year is the first year they got close to winning a SB after how many years? Only 2 teams get to the SB each year and only 1 comes from our Conference. With our current head coach and coordinators, the chance of making a big run in the playoffs is between
nil and never.

Reality check for some of you.............The game here isn't cap space. It is allocation of cap space. We have never been good at it b/c the owner and his family are business people trying to make football decisions. Its a fun game if you can afford to play.

That makes perfectly good sense. (the ct category) but I think Lawrence will be a pain to sign long term.

Think 5-years, $85 million with $50 million guaranteed as the starting point.

That's what Olivier Vernon got, working with this same agent. And Vernon got that coming off of a 7-sack season.

Neither Lawrence nor his agent will entertain any offer that doesn't start there.

Don't forget Crawford's deal. A mistake from the beginning for a player who was never what you paid him to become. Magnified by quickly restructuring the deal, locking you into said bad contract for several years. One mistake compounded by another.

Not a terrible player or bashing him, but yet another example of a poor return on investment

This goes back to knowing who to invest in. We aren't good at it. I understand the thinking..........you sign Crawford BEFORE a big breakout year and then his contract looks like a bargain..............and Jerry loves bargains. The issue in Dallas has always been having a feel for this kind of game with young players. They made the same error with MB3.

Agreed.

In many ways, I feel for Crawford. He's been miscast here since almost the beginning. He was drafted to be a 3-4 defensive end when we were still running that scheme. And I still think that would be his bet fit. But when we changed schemes, he became yet another round peg in a square hole and we've been trying to find a place for him ever since.

I give him much credit for being a team player and not complaining, and giving his all wherever he's been needed.

Eagles have been to two Superbowls since 2004 winning One. They have made the Playoffs in 01,02,03,04,06,10,13,17

Cowboys havent been to one since 1995. Since the 00's they made the Playoffs in 03,06,07,09,14,16

So the Eagles have been the way better Team since the Millenium. And right now its not looking as it will Change anytime soon

You make a great point and it's likely true that they will be really good for a number of years. It also makes little sense to keep harping on
the Cowboys FO because the Jones family isn't going anywhere and Stephen will likely be the next GM after Jerry departs the scene. If you
like the Eagles better, you should consider changing your team.

I hate the Eagles was just replying to your Argument that the Eagles are not a good indicator for success because they havent been close to a SB in Years. Just not true. They made the Playoffs 8 Times in the last 18 years, with two SB Appearances and One SB Win. Pretty good if you ask me. While the Cowboys in the same time made the Playoffs only six times never getting out of the Divisional Round. Well they built a Winner through Free Agency and shipping out Players they didnt Need for good value. The Cowboys just cant do that without restructuring 50% of their Roster being burried in Cap Hell once again for years to come.

And since Jerry cant let go of Players he loves....

To my ears, not talking about the jones family or leveling any criticism at them b/c they aren't going anywhere is akin to giving them a pass. People like them get enough passes in life. We don't need to extend the courtesy here.

As I said, you are correct. Jerry and Stephen are not going to change. They favor the players they drafted and keep them at least 1 year longer
than they should. Stephen just does not value expensive players from other teams that they did not draft. Just the facts.

Guess what. Jerry and Stephen could care less what you or I or this board has to say. He keeps selling merchandise, filling seats and getting
air time. Jerry has billions and is not losing sleep over what anyone here has to say. We are just "tilting at windmills" guys.

I know but not talking about it because we cant Change the fact that the Jones Family own the Cowboys is not an Option. If that would be the case we could Close all Forums and Message Boards cause nothing will Change anyway. Where would the fun be?

This board has been banging on the Jones family since they bought the Cowboys. Nothing has changed much in 28 years and most likely won't change in the future. We can keep griping but, it's just a waist of wind to my thinking. I guess it gives people a place to vent though not that things will change or get better.

Its all about the contract not necessarily the player. The only position that you just can't do without is QB. If you have a QB, you are in the game and don't need to get bogged down in 70 million dollar WRs and gamble on players who haven't produced in order to win.

There are certain positions that you have to pay for quality and others where you can still win with a cheaper player. Jerry and company have never really grasped what those positions are and therefore make a lot of myopic decisions. It should be all about winning, but for our front office , it is also about personal relationships. Jerry signs players b/c he drafted them and feels a kinship if they pan out. He's the last guy in the world who should be making these decisions.
