Oh so in your fairy tale world the Cowboys will either cut or trade 8 - 10 players between now and the 15th when free agency starts. Just admit that you're not a GM or a capologist and everyone including you will be happier.
.
And that is 2

Romo retiring SAVED DAL 14m last year and 20m this year on the cap and in cash

That is 34m over two years.....kind of blows your little theory up and that was a worst case scenario type of retirement

We still had to account for over 17million that we deferred. That's money we can't spend this year. Yes, we saved many more millions but, Romo didn't play for us either.

Actually we rolled over 8m and Romo has 8m in Dead Money this year so it is a net wash

Why do we need cap space? It's not like we will actually use it to sign relevant free agents with it anyhow.

DAL is roughly 3-4m under the cap after Tagging DLawrence

How they can create space*

Restructure= R
Cut or Trade= CT*
Extend= E

TSmith...............R.............7.3m
DLaw.................E..............10m
..........................CT............17m
Dez....................R..............10m
..........................CT.............8.5m
..........................E...............8m
TFred................R...............7.4m
SLee.................R...............3m
ZMartin.............E................4m
TCrawford.........R...............3.4m
.........................CT..............1.8m
Witten..............CT...............6.9m
........................R.................3.9m
TWill...............R...................1.8m
.......................CT.................(2.5m)
LCollins............R................1.8m
OScan............CT................1.4m
Mayowa...........CT..............2.7m
Hanna.............CT................2.7m
Beasley...........CT................3.2m
Bailey..............R..................1.6m
........................CT...............3.4m
Heath..............CT................1.6m

*No June 1st cuts and No Rule of 51 savings

That is 65m in cap space with only cuts to OScan, Hanna and Mayowa

They won't do it but I don't want to hear we are in cap trouble...... we are also 65m under the cap in 2019

If I had time, I would put the cap space for each team over the next 3 years into a spreadsheet, then add all 3 years together and sort by the total for the 3 years.

That would show which teams really have cap space.

The Eagles should go for it this year because it does appear the cap is catching up to them.

Cowboys
3M
65M
141M
Total=209M

Eagles
negative 9M
5M
67M
Total=63M

Prediction... cap space will grow. I wouldn't restructure players with known injury woes though. T Smith and Lee for example. Yes restructure Freddy. Yes get on with it with Zachs contract and spread his 2018 cap hit out. Same with Irving. Martin and Lawrence depends on their agent dancing though. Not predictable. Let Dez's, Lee's, Crawford's contract play out or a pay cut in 2018. Move on in 2019 with reduced dead cap hit and some space for Dak and Zeke. Resrtucture La'ell? Yeah no problem. Witten? Witten? Witten? I wanted to draft a TE last year. Great class. If we don't draft a TE this year (I ain't putiing no faith in Rico) then I'm never mentioning Witten's name again. Great player of the past but his contract is holding the team hostage.He can grow a long white beard and use a cane for all I care. Yes, cut Scandrick, please.

Technically restructuring a player just gives him a bonus in March that replaces most of the upcoming season's salary which would be guaranteed after game 1 anyway.

If they are going to push 10M into the future with restructures, it's more convenient if that player stays a few years, but...

Option A:
Player A1 restructured to get 10M in cap space then cut after the season.
Player A2 restructured next year to offset added dead-money from Player A1. Player stays 3 years.

Option B:
Player B restructured to get 10M in cap space. Stays 4 years.

Either way 10M gets pushed forward over 4 years. There is no loss of money in option A relative to option B.

So you admit you made up the 1m a day fine....... just like the 40 time thread,,,,,, you make a fool of yourself and come back for more

The fine used to be that back before the current CBA. The fact that the penalty was worse makes your position worse too.

So let's see. Your way opens us up for millions in fines, loss of draft picks, and the forced cutting of players. Bravo on your point of fact. :rolleyes:

While you grandstand on a point of fact you surrender your central position that restructuring as much as possible is a bad idea. Forest : trees. Talk about foolish.

Nevermind that you were wrong in that the league would not "allow us to go over the cap."

What is sad and desperate is deflecting like you do here and running away from the points I am making. It's intellectual cowardice.

Again, if you restructure all you can and spend up to the cap then you open yourself up the the penalties discussed if a player is forced to retire or be cut because you have no ability to create more room in said year.

You can talk about a prediction I made being wrong all you want and your ideology will still be garbage.

You can't go over the cap with restructures......can't happen .......league won't allow it.......plus restructures create space, not the other way around

In fact, I can only think of one possible way to go the cap and that is in the offseason when it doesn't matter

Again your reading comprehension is terrible.

Let's say we do as you say and restructure as much as we can every year. Then let's say Tyron's back explodes and Lee's knee disintegrates forcing them both to retire similar to when Aikman and Irvin had to retire back to back. Then we will be over the cap because of accelerations.

Can we create more space through restructures? No. So we either eat the penalty or we gut the roster.

And the more you restructure like you want us too the more risk is generated. Again your ideology -cause that is what it is-- is crap.

Ask Fuzzy about Tremaine Edmund's 40 Time.

Check his ideology and reading comprehension.
