Garrett should be, with so many calling for his head. He needs to go kick down Stephens door, and demand that at least a quarter of this be made available immediately, so he can go grab an impact player or two in free agency this season.
mr Bleed--- i just cut myself...and i saw some silver mixed with the blue

Busted so here comes the deflection

You'll say ANYTHING to avoid having to admit that you idiotic cap ideology is just that IDIOTIC. Now I do apologize for confusing that you said restructuring would put a team over. That was my mistake but that doesn't change how idiotic you cap ideas are.

And with Lawrence getting tagged and releasing the 2 defensive linemen that leaves about 7 mil of cap space to extend Martin and sign Hitchens and Irving and the rookie class so just where do the Cowboys have cap space to over spend for impact free agents?

You mean like Romo.........He retired in March but didn't file the papers until June 1st

He had 18.9m in Dead Money and when he suddenly retired he saved the team 14m last year and 20m this year.......... but even if they took it all last year they would have still saved 5m against the cap

So hypothetically if a player retired in Mar/Apr and the team couldn't push back the tranny until June 1st and the team went over the cap .... they would have 7 days to get in compliance with no penalties.......certainly not 1m a day like you suggested several times(and it wasn't part of the old CBA either)..... they would be prohibited from making other moves until they got back into compliance

Same rules would apply mid-season but I can't think of a scenario how it would happen..... since it is clearly past June 1st all the pro-rated signing bonuses or Dead Money would stay off the books until next year with any retirement, trade or cut

edit- maybe if they waived someone with guaranteed money still owed in future years like Aaron Hernandez they would go over until he was actually suspended but the money and cap space could be recovered

This should not be hard. You look at any cap site and look for the players that are a loss to the cap if cut and they are the risk. And of course, your way increases the amount of dead money and thus potential accelerations of all players increasing that number because all salary becomes dead money year after year. The team doesn't make choices like not restructuring Lee, Dez,Romo, or Tyron in any given year. Your way sees only the minimum salary and dead money on the books for all players.

And spare me your "you suggested several times." I was the one that told you the actual penalties. Sure you have a week but at the same time the solution is gutting the roster.

It's not hard to imagine: a career ending injury like what happened with Irvin and Aikman as I pointed out.

dont see how your math can be reasonable on all contracts?...maybe some?
The numbers are all accurate

DAL has over 65m in cap space available with only a few cuts to OScan, Hanna and Mayowa

If you are going to keep a player all year then you should restructure their salary
..... you don't have to spend it but with rollover there is no risk or harm..... it is simple math....you do not increase any money owed or length of contracts

even if they didn't spend but 15m of that on Draft picks and resigning FAs they could roll over 50m to next year ...... that would leave them with over 100m in cap space......how high do we need to go before we sign some players

Okay- So the team can gain all sorts of cap, but don't.
So... they're simply cheap as sh.... and don't want to field the best team they can?

So what....as long as they happen after June 1st and you haven't used both designations then the majority of the hit will still come the following year.... who gets hurt in April without going on the IR?

No extra risk

Once again, I want to kick Stephen (or is it Steven? He looks like a Steven...) in the freaking face, but I'd probably tear a muscle.
I just found out I have a torn bicep... I'm bitter.

Because @LocimusPrime & @Beast_from_East got me lifting, the jerks.

mr Night-- i agree...our over the top conservatism in free-agency does not work...even some bottom feeders we signed last year we ended up cutting which created dead money...we need to understand free-agency is often over-paying...but if its just one or two positions then do it...another solid lineman and linebacker would have given us 3 more wins last year....look at Philly.from last to superbowl winners...its our fearfulness of hoping to play not to lose that keeps us in mediocre hell....put pedal to the metal and kick some butt

@Nightman your posts and threads are well received by many in this forum whether we agree or disagree.
It's a shame that a "64" year old would come in here to make childish remarks thrown your direction.
Some comments seem more like a 24 year old still living with mom because dad left town
the minute he realized his kid was a worthless sack of excrimate. Hypothetically speaking, of course.

I, for one, didn't take your 65 million cap savings literally. It seemed clear to me that it was theoretical.
Even before reading your next sentence that stated "they won't do that".

One would think adults could disagree without hate and anger. It sure does seem like the personal attacks are
far more damaging to the CZ than a few cuss words that get mentioned on network television. Now, I'm not bashing the mods
here. They do their best and, frankly, shouldn't have to police everyone all the time. However, maybe someone needs to
tell this newbie to cool it. In the real world, he'd get punched square in the face. Actually, he'd be too much of a coward
to say a word.

This off-season has already gotten toxic. I've seen more vitriol than ever, on a daily basis, and it was already sky-high.
I get it, but it's ugly. This is where we see people's true colors.
