Romo had to play with Torin Tucker and the Pettiet kid so he was at least used to poor OL play and was running for his life in his early career. Dak doesn't have that same skill set of throwing on the run and improvising. He needs a clean look and clean pocket, his footwork is poor to begin with so it goes to **** once he has to move. He has wheels and isn't afraid to run but doesn't like to throw on the run generally.
The only linemen he had was Flozell Adams. When he went down in 2006, the Cowboys allowed like 46 sacks in 10 games. That like included Gurode, Kozier, Columbo and Rivera (whose back by then was decimated) and all four of them were around when Romo started. All these Dak-stans are delusional talking about the ‘talent’ Romo had. Leonard Davis was basically a bust when he came.
Plus, Garrett brought in Houck and man blocking schemes, and if was only until Callahan came that things changed. Romo also had Garrett’s brother as PG coordinator and that dude was trying to put his pet project Ogletree into the starting line-up. And Juliys Jones loved to run into the backs of OL.
Romo would have absolutely destroyed with the OL he has now, which includes Smith and Martin. Please.. These dudes act like Dak is running for his life all game. Plus, Romo would have known when to change the play at the line.
