How Would You Address the Team If You Were the Coach?

I think you praise them for the way they fought back and let them know that we still have a lot of work to do. What coach says right after the game and what the coaches say during film study 2 different worlds
Bingo...these guys won an NFL game, no reason for the HC to belittle that. There is going to be a whole lot of opportunity to call out and correct bad play during film.

I guarantee there are quite a few guys not very eager to watch film this week. It's one thing to have a game like that when the opposition has a ton of players labeled in green or blue on the scouting report, not very many of those on Houston though.

What is you locker room attitude if you were th coach after yesterday's performance? Do you praise them for fighting through adversity and getting the win or do you rip into them for sloppy, uninspired play and costly mistakes?

It's not easy to win in the NFL. At the same time, we are supposed to be in the hunt for a Super Bowl and nearly lost to the league's worst team.
Move on to the next opponent. I wouldn't want to spend too much time talking about this spectacle.

You can not wait untill after a bad performance to get their heads out of their butts.

Everyone in the NFL is a good player, it's about putting that desire to win on the field. The Cowboys offense has failed to really go fight for the ball many times this year. That is the #1 thing i'd preach to that side. They got lazy and less physical and houston brought everything they had to nearly beating a more talented opponent. Defensively the entire DL needs to play angry and urgently while still maintaining discipline and if the DB's can be a little more physical with the wr's on the LOS maybe it'll help the DL disrupt the qb's a bit more. Joseph's getting beat anyway might as well disrupt the wr's and use they physical size/strength that he has.

If I was the coach, I blame myself because they did not prepare them for the game against an NFL opponent. They took them lightly and paid for it!

Didn't McCarthy say that this week? Before or after going lite on them in practice, I am not sure.

I hadn't seen anything on that but l guess it's possible. I know Parcells used to tell them that all the time though.

3 points:

1) After the game I would have made a point not to go into the locker room to speak to the team.
2) Monday morning I would address the whole team to inform them that yesterday was unacceptable.
3) Wednesday I would be at them on the practice field

- i got to get our OC to get Lamb targeted very early in games.- the longer it takes him to get involved, the more it gains a chance that he will brood, get frustrated and get disinterested.
I even heard John Madden say that about WRs in general, even the great ones.

- i gotta get our RBs more involved and well designed in the pass game.

- I'd have to address why our defense which led entire NFL in sacks - ..got little pressure, no QB hits and zero sacks ..Not Parsons, Williams or Fowler ..
How do we drop off the radar with all of our pass rushers vs a one win team ?

- Once again - if it rings true, that Lovie Smith's defense went to a " quarters scheme" per McCarthy, that was "never seen from his usual Tampa 2 scheme, that means that yet
another team managed to counter-scheme against Kellen to confuse the OC and the QB,.. and it worked ?
i think the only thing that worked out well, ..was the TE (Schultz) over the middle of the umbrella safety coverage.

- i dunno why a Dan Quinn defense that was built on playing fast and physical - has so much trouble vs mobile QBs, they ran two scrubs QBs in Briskel and Mills and they almost
managed to get their only 2nd win of the entire year.

- We did not prepare to have our team better motivated, we allowed ourselves to distracted, and non-motivated to be our best vs a sorry, losing team.

Problem is not this one game. Problem is that Dallas is so inconsistent period! Should have been a day one speech as soon as McCarthy got here. But Mike is always sunshine and flowers in my butt type of guy. Thus, so is his team.

This era of players doesn’t give a rats asss about what MM says. That motivational ,rah rah, stuff doesn’t work anymore plus most of them have their “Beats by Dre” on and wouldn’t hear it anyway.

MM would do better to post a motivational speech in this forum……

Are we not allowed a let down game? My God man, every team in this league is allowed to have that except us. Haven't had a game like that all year We won the freaking game.. I guess we need a cupcake schedule like the 49ers who haven't played a true road game in almost 2 months. Or maybe we should lose to Detroit like the Vikings, lose to the Colts like the Chiefs, lose to the Falcons like the 49ers did, fumble the ball in the endzone like the Bills did against the Vikings. Be happy with the win and move on.

I'd take the film from this game and the Packers game and show it to the team at the first practice or any time that I think the team is getting overly cocky to remind them that, like any other team, they are beatable. I think that'd be one of the first things I'd do so that the team never takes an NFL opponent lightly again. This team has to know that, for example, Houston doesn't like the Cowboys. They are out of the playoffs, and they have no qualms about playing spoilers and trying to embarrass us. So, we can not even take them for granted. All teams can win any game any week.
