How Would You Address the Team If You Were the Coach?

Are we not allowed a let down game? My God man, every team in this league is allowed to have that except us. Haven't had a game like that all year We won the freaking game.. I guess we need a cupcake schedule like the 49ers who haven't played a true road game in almost 2 months. Or maybe we should lose to Detroit like the Vikings, lose to the Colts like the Chiefs, lose to the Falcons like the 49ers did, fumble the ball in the endzone like the Bills did against the Vikings. Be happy with the win and move on.

I'm not upset about the win. However, I think what happened with the team is that they got cocky, as is typical with the Cowboys after a massive win. So, I'm just saying that keeping the game tape on hand would be good to bring them back to reality any time that they get cocky.

Everybody on the line. 40 yard sprints. Ready, go.
LOL. Back in the 1970's we used to have to run bleachers for what seemed like eternity when the coach was mad. One time a coach found a pack of cigarettes in someone's locker and we had to run bleachers until the guilty party spoke up. Problem was that half the team smoked and no one was sure who's pack of smokes was found. Finally, after we were all half dead, the coach outed our QB as the guilty party, and he was our top player for sure. Ah, those were the days.

You're forgetting that Green Bay game. Dallas always plays down to the competition for some reason.

What is you locker room attitude if you were th coach after yesterday's performance? Do you praise them for fighting through adversity and getting the win or do you rip into them for sloppy, uninspired play and costly mistakes?

It's not easy to win in the NFL. At the same time, we are supposed to be in the hunt for a Super Bowl and nearly lost to the league's worst team.
The idea that a bunch of internet neckbeards could somehow draft a Vince Lombardi type of speech is nothing short of ridiculous.

Appreciate your passion, but you give us too much credit

"Great game, way to hang in there! Obviously, we still have some work to do. Now, enjoy the victory, next up is the Jaguars."

I’d walk in after chugging a 20oz coke, burp like booger from revenge of the nerds, and say “that’s what I think about that game.” And start talking about the Jaguars.

Sort of. I think that game is different because we made plays at times, led by 2 touchdowns but had costly mistakes like endzone INT, going for it on 4th down in OT, couldn't stop the run. That game had a different feel to it where were trying to win most of the game and just couldn't make the plays we needed to. Lack of execution. Not quite similar to yesterday where we just seemed to not really care that much until the end.

You start with what worked out, the good things. Just to make clear that they won in the end and that you do acknowledge the positive aspects to build on. They are a 10 win team and you can't treat them as if they were already out of the play off race. You gotta respect that.

But then you out that aside and for the rest of the week you work on the things that need improvement.

- Dak really needs to stop making those throws too high and into (triple lol?) Coverage
- receivers need to improve their ball control, too many drops
- run defense, gee where to start?
- Kellen, stop calling those high school Level easy to read plays so many times in a row
- Micah? Gotta perform in every game, not every second
- CB coach, we gotta talk

Now just pick the top three pain points, can't work on everything in a week and there you go

Your description was a CC.

The "seemed to not really care that much" is nothing more than media spew. It doesn't fit.

I’m not sure the coach addressing the team works here. It’s common for them to play sloppy with lackadaisical execution and penalties. You have to think it’s a coaching issue as well if it’s historically characteristic of them.

A better question would be addressing the team as owner/GM, but we all imagine how THAT goes in Cowboys Nation.
