The hall of fame? I’m talking about current day NFL lol….what happened in 1960 has no bearings on what goes down in the NFL in 2023. The league is more passing.
Even in today's game 1st round RBs outperform the other ones with few exceptions.
This isn't a passing league. It's a passing and running league. There is very little difference in the ratio.

With a savy GM I would think he could be had for less than a 1. Especially with this year’s TE class. Pitts is a wasted talent for sure. Arguably TE is one of the deepest positions in the draft this year though. Granted, there is an element of unknown on how these guys converting from the college game to the NFL. I would rather keep my 1 and get a 5th year option, and a 5 year rookie deal. Especially if there is a real chance at say Kincaid.

Have you looked at the tape and compared the two?

Do it and you will see the big difference. Attitude, yac, blocking, route running. Mayer is a true football player. Kinkaid is an overblown WR. I dont see much yac and he is always blanketed. Great hands, but Mayer is better.

Mayer will be a leader on offense and give them a nasty edge in both the run and the pass game.

Where is Mayer from?
I can't recall off hand.
Was waiting for after FA and any updated lists from the combine as to rankings before I got caught up on all the draft info.
Then can throw out my best guess at a mock draft. I will then spend more time in the draft zone, than I have been, to see any posters reviews on prospects.
Notre Dame . YOu are going to love the kid. Go watch his highlights and then watch kinkaid.

I'd be ecstatic. Dak loves his tight ends and Pitts is as talented as they come. You eliminate a need by getting guy with a much higher ceiling than anyone that would be available at 26.
That talent hasn’t translated to the field the way I expected when he came out

I wouldn’t give a first for a TE with a 47.5% catch pct. That’s really bad for a TE
Schultz isn’t the athlete but he has a 70% career catch pct

I would love Pitts. It would take more than a 1st for ATL to move off of him at this point. I would seriously consider our late 1st this year and something additional. He already had a great 1st season under his belt and proved he can play, even with a so-so ATL team. That is much more proven than anything in the draft.

6'6", 4.4 40 and 22. Went top 5 a couple years ago and is the highest drafted TE ever... He obviously has all the measurables and put up great numbers his last college year and his first pro year so the production is there too. If his knee checks out I would love a move for him. There aren't many comparable players that young.

They just traded for Jonnu Smith and have been absolutely clueless as to how to use him.

I know his production has been bad but there is a small video I’ve seen of the guy running free and the QB just overthrowing him over and over.

It takes these TEs sometime to develop and I still believe in his talent.

So how would you feel if Dallas trades their #1 overall pick for Pitts?
Falcons beginning year three of the rebuild under GM/H duo Terry Fotenot and Arrhur Smith. They are trying to improve a so-so offense that has an underwhelming O line, a promising RB and WR1 that delivered in their rookie seasons, and still unknown QB who only started the last four games of 2022 - his first season also.
Despite his sophmore slump (recall who the QB was before Pitts went on IR the week of Thanksgiving) - Atlanta is not going to trade "Unicorn" to anyone this year.

I think it’s foolish to trade a first for a tight end. You can find tight ends all throughout the draft.
Pitts isn’t a Tight end he’s a hybrid TE/WR who’s 6 6 and runs a 4.4 and moves like a gazelle. They’re not trading him but if we could get him for a first it would be a massive steal.

The talk around here is that they will try and transition him to a number 2 wr.

I think a first rounder for him is doable but risky because he hasn’t have that monster year yet in terms of tds and receptions.

How many of the top 20 rushers you see that are first rounders? I only see 3.

Has he shown you to be anything more then a receiver playing tight end?
