You will never get me to agree with this. Sole responsibility lies at the hands of the punk with a gun who thinks he needs one to prove his pee pee is big. That sect of society are a worthless blight on the world. Pimples on a fat *** are more appealing.
I agree with you here. The blame really does fall on the gang member.
I wouldn't be surprised, however, if Marshall feels some responsibilty for it. I mean it's not like the gang member walked up and said "You know what I'm going to shoot at these random dudes, out of the blue tonight, cause I feel like being bad."
Now I guess that does happen with gang members, I dont know I'm not well versed in messing with them, but in this case it didn't. Marshall and company got into it with known gang members which is absolutely, totally, and utterly irresponsible, reckless, and stupid. You have to know when you screw with folks like this, who have no respect for life or the law or anything that you're running the risk of getting yourself, or those around you, hurt or killed.
I wouldn't put responsibility on him for it, cause he can't control what others do, but I'd certainly have to have a real serious talk with him about how he should probably consider not putting himself, and his friends, in situations with less than savory people.
In a sense, to me, it would be like if they went to a club and slapped a known mobster in the face. Now you can't control how they're going to react, so in a sense it's not your responsibility for how they respond to that slap, but I don't think you can really acted shocked, or surprised, if they decide to kill you and/or whoevers with you for the slap.
I do wonder though, just out of my own curiousity, if Marshall blames himself at all for the event cause of the prior fighting.
