Hunkering down with a statistically brilliant QB who's a loser

Good point. So since Romo is so "elite" and our team is so bad, let's trade him away to one of those terrible teams for some of their good defensive players and draft picks.

What good is an "Elite" QB on a team that has a bad offensive line, defensive line, and secondary? Let's find an average young QB but shore up our whole team so we can stop talking about Romo's wonderful stats while our team is out of the playoffs.

Yeah that's smart let's send this franchise into another 15 years of mediocrity.

Put your Romo Cheerleader pom poms down and step away from the computer.
And another fallacy. You're on a roll.

Yeah, cause we are going places with Romo.. let me tell ya.

There's 27 other teams in the league (hell maybe all 31 other teams) that would love to have a QB who's the 4th highest rated in the league and throw for 31tds 10ints and 4200yrds be seen as a problem on their team. They'd be in pretty damn good shape if it was actually the case.

There are a lot of teams that would love to have Romo, but there are not 31 teams that would rather have Romo than who they have. There aren't 27 either. The Saints, Packers, Steelers, Patriots, Giants, Lions, Falcons, Texans and Colts (assuming Peyton is healthy) would all gladly stand pat, and the Chargers, Pats and Panthers probably feel that way as well. Obviously some fans/media might have their opinion that Romo might be better than some of those, but the point is that there are plenty of teams that wouldn't view Romo as a significant upgrade, if an upgrade at all.

That said, I want to restate my position that I think Romo is a quality QB, and that given the right circumstances is capable of winning a Super Bowl, but lets not overstate his value, and lets not hold him blameless for the teams shortcomings. There are a hell of a lot of good QB's out there, and a lot throwing up big stats (again, 10 4,000+ yard passers this year). Romo's stats are very good, but without the team results it's natural he is going to be viewed with a bit of suspicion.

We will if we improve the offensive line. RS said it best you don't need a great defense to win nowadays. Look at the Saints, Pats, and Packers.

You completely missed my point. I'm saying every team would love to have a QB of Romo's caliber be a 'problem' on their team. If a player that produces at Romo's level is actually a problem then the rest of the team is pretty damn amazing.

Those teams all have elite QB's(Not because of their offensive lines either) and they would be elite if they were on other teams too. Are you telling me you would take Romo over Brees, Rogers, and Brady? Come on son..... Romo isn't even close to the same level as those QB's. Heck, Eli is a much better QB than Romo.

:laugh2:Ok now I know you're just trolling...or worse. You know Eli had over TWICE the turnovers Romo did right? Twice as many, plus fewer TDs.

Yep, look at those 3. 9% of the league has an offense that is so good it can overcome a weak defense. Do you really take that as the model?
Well, throw Detroit in there too - 12.5%.

Houston has had a strong offense for the last few years, but couldn't make the playoffs until this year when their defense improved. The Ravens, Steelers, Bengals, Texans, Broncos, Falcons and 49ers all got into the playoffs based largely on a quality defense.

I'd take him over Eli without thinking twice.

I agree Romo isn't a big problem, but I would disagree with anyone who firmly says he isn't some of the problem. Again, in the absence of results there is uncertainty.

Yup, and see, stats aren't everything. Eli led his team to the playoffs and Romo is at home.. AGAIN. When Eli had pressure on him against the Cowboys this past Sunday, he delivered EVERY SINGLE TIME, either burning us in the air or running with the ball. When Romo had similar pressure he was running into his own guys, making bad throws, or taking sacks. At the end of the day.. Eli is the better QB.

He's part of the problem, how, beyond what any other top qb is? Romo threw for a ton of yards and TDs, and had very few turnovers. That's all you can ask for within reason. On ANY other team in the league, Romo's production would equate to being an MVP. On the Cowboys, it's somehow not good enough and is a problem.

Ofcourse you would and you can sit at home and watch Eli on TV this week while Romo is out golfing.

Eli did not lead his team to the playoffs. The team led themselves to the playoffs...unless you're one of those people that knows so little about football that you actually think just the QB is who takes teams to the postseason.

You are trying to play both sides of the field. I know how you really feel though.
Be prepared for people to ask "In what way is Tony part of the problem?"

Every single time? :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

What about the Giants losses to Seattle, Philly, and Washington? He had 3 picks in each of those 3 losses. You're delusional if you think Eli is better.

Yeah, Eli had little to nothing to do with it. :bang2:

Where did I say he had nothing to do with it? Try actually reading what people write.
