Hunter Luepke being squeezed to keep FOUR TE's

I take all credit...I'm currently leaning back with my arms folded, and giving it my best Barney Fife cocky looking sneer.

What would he have needed to do to impress you?

He graded high in all areas of FB. He did not fumble. He did not get called for a penalty. He turned a routine pass in the flats into a big play TD. He picked up a 4th and 1. He picked up rushers in pass blocking.

What more did you need to see? 250 yards rushing?
He impressed me!

Guess what. If Leupke had shown more in scrimmages and practices the coaches would have played him more in preseason games 1 & 2

Hunter is the mother pet cat of the decade around here. Reality is going to hit:
Dallas won't put him on their 53 and no other team will either.

Book it. Lock it down. Put it in 5 inch headlines. You all are fixated on something that isn't there.

But hey, there's a good chance he makes the practice squad.
Oops.

Luepke is going to be our Kyle Juszczyk (49ers). He can line up in multiple places on our offense and provide a hammer for short yardage. Malik Davis is a liability every time he has to pass protect. Do we really need a RB who is going to get the QB killed? Chances are that Malik Davis hits the practice squad because there is not a team out there adding him to their 53 man roster. Maybe he can get on the practice squad and starting learning how to block.
Well....maybe but it's not like Tony Pollard is good at pass protection either. I hope you're right about Luepke but I didn't see that. I thought I saw more in Davis. Plus, Davis actually played well last year when he got his shot. Don't remember his pass protection.

Luepke can play 3 positions.
I'm assuming you mean RB, FB & TE. TE.....I haven't seen him play that. I hope he's good, but I was surprised they chose him over Davis. He didn't get to play much in the preseason except for that last game.....just surprised me.

Can someone PLEASE tell me why you would risk losing a contributing Swiss Army Knife in favor of a FOURTH TE (Sean McKeon) who will NEVER see the field??? This is such flawed logic!!!
You can't go wrong with anybody from North Dakota State.

You don't remember Davis coming into the 49ers playoff game after Tony Pollard got hurt and getting blown up on a blitz and Dak getting smeared into the turf? He was only in the game for that one play. The coaching staff immediately benched him and just used Elliott exclusively the rest of the game. I saw his same missed blocks in protection during the preseason. I am pretty sure that is the primary reason he did not make the 53.

Does anyone find it odd that the Cowboys kept the NDST fullback over McKeon. The fullback has a good relationship with Lance while McKeon was close to Dak. Conspiracies……..

Lol....no, I don't remember that.
