Hypothetical regarding the Dez situation

Dez deserves a contract, but I've said all along that Dallas cannot break the bank, should not give him CJ guaranteed money, and it does not help Romo, Witten, or the team if we have to sacrifice Murray and other key contributors, especially those on an already weak defense, in order to keep him.

The Jones's need to stick to their salary structure and plan. Do not cave in.

Dez is great, but if I have Dez on one side of the scales and Murray, Free, Beasley, Ro McClain, and Carter/Durrant/Carr on the other side, I don't like it.

If that is the case, why don't you not go to work and demand a raise? The reason you probably haven't done that is that the ramifications on you are much greater than the ramifications on your employer.

I'm happy with my job. I'm a GM. I got what I wanted.

In the past, If I didn't get what I wanted or felt I deserved. I left. Gave 0 ****s

Call me whatever you want, but I take **** from no man, job wise. I didn't go through school to be tried like a *****.

Dez on the other hand, is in a different situation. He plays a sport for Millions, where holding out is nothing of rare form, and he also can't just up and leave. So if I'm in his situation, and I know I'm good as hell, and feel I deserve something. I will just hold out, knowing what I have done in the past, another team, if not the cowboys, will pay me.

All I'm saying is, they can slap a tag on you as a form of tactic.

A player can hold out, as a form of tactic.

Players play without long term guarantees all the time. Every player in the last year of their deal is playing without a safety net. Most non-first round drafts picks are playing without any guarantees.

Dez whining about disrespect and loyalty is a joke. If they tag him he is guaranteed 13m, that is more than he made in his first 5 years. Don't tell me how much he loves the game and the team and then tell me his going to hold out if he gets tagged. Those are the rules, live with it.

I read about the 2 draft pick compensation if we don't match another team's qualifying recently myself. Although it changes the dynamic of our offense, I'd be giddy with that. Four first rounders over the next two years puts us in control of the draft both of those years. It lowers our cap hit long-term, allows us to fill several needs and gives us bargaining power for the truly impressive players in the draft. Of course it will be a blow to the offense in the near future, but long-term I think it would pay off.

I'm in no way advocating I don't want Dez on the team anymore. I'm just saying that if he did choose to hold out, in the long run we'd be a more well-rounded team provided the picks pan out.
