Hypothetical: Romo for Bradford?

I wouldn't take Sam Bradford under any circumstances for Romo he wouldn't be the right fit for this team. He isn't nearly as productive as Romo and the Rams haven't won more than 7 games in 3 years with him at QB. If St Louis was looking to trade Bradford for Romo what would that tell you? Bradford isn't mobile enough to succeed with the Cowboys especially on a team that has no running game or an opportunistic defense. The Rams have had issues on the OL and Bradford isn't able to get outside the pocket and make plays like Romo. Bradford has never thrown for more than 21 TD's. His career completion percentage is only 58.3 and his career passer rating is only 77.3. His career numbers look like Kyle Orton's.

Those numbers wouldn't get it done with the Cowboys they would end up going from bad to worse with Bradford. Amongst NFL QB's Bradford would rank somewhere in the low to mid 20's. Most of the young QB's who've come into the league recently like Luck, RG3 and Russell Wilson have dramatically improved their teams as rookies. Kaepernick in his first stint as the starter took SF all the way to the SB. I haven't been very impressed with Bradford I'm sure on a good team he would be a lot better but the Cowboys certainly don't have the team or structure in place for him to succeed.

The Rams had somewhat of a running game last season ranking 19th compared to the Cowboys who ranked 31st. If Bradford has no running game to lean on and has to put the ball up as much as Romo does the Cowboys would be looking at 4-6 wins with him at QB. If the Rams don't start winning soon they may regret not taking RG3 last April and trading Bradford.

Put Sam on this Cowboys team and he turns into Colt McCoy.
My guess is that if MCoy was the Rams QB last season he would have at the very least matched Bradford's numbers.

As for the Rams in general; I like what they're doing there otherwise.

Bradford is just an above average QB, far from being an elite QB, it doesn't matter he is 8 years younger, I wouldn't even consider trade.

I live in Ram land and Bradford is not that great.

Not sure what you can expect if your most talented receiver Amendola misses a ton of games and the rest of the group consists solely of JAGS like Gibson, Givens, Pettis, etc. They've never really had a true #1 in a while.

I live in St Louis and I never said he was great, just an above average QB, I said there are lot of hopes from local fans with Fisher onboard working with Bradford.

Kristen82 I agree with you but he has chances to put away lesser teams and he struggles. Romo is just superoir compared to Sam. Living in Missouri in Chief and Ram nation is funny cause they think Alex Smith and Sam are great.

Oh I'm not saying Bradford > Romo, just that Bradford hasn't had the opportunity to put up gaudy stats because he hasn't gotten much help from the WR spots. It's the same reason they ran Jackson until his legs fell off every season.

The lack of WR talent is what has everyone in St Louis still holding out hope that Bradford is the answer but he didn't have WR talent his rookie year in 2010 when he had his best season. There has to be some concern that he hasn't progressed much since his rookie year. The reason Russell Wilson, Luck and RG3 were able to turn bad teams around as rookies is because they're playmakers who can avoid defenders and make plays when their protection breaks down. QB's like that can energize teams and fans. The lack of WR talent and Bradford not being very mobile has forced St Louis to rely heavily on the run.

Put Bradford in Baltimore behind their OL and he might be Joe Flacco both are tall strong armed QB's who throw good deep balls but aren't going to beat you with mobility (although Flacco is more nimble than some give him credit for) and impressive numbers. Both QB's have to be on a certain type of team to be successful. The only thing the Cowboys have over the Rams is better receivers. The Rams running game was ranked ahead of the Cowboys as was their defense. Put Bradford in Dallas with the stats he had from last season and the Cowboys would have been lucky to go 4-12.

Bradford would have had little chance behind the Cowboys OL. Even with the talent the team has at receiver with no running game and having to put the ball up 648 times like Romo did the Cowboys would have never approached 8 wins with Bradford. Romo spun away and avoided sacks last season that Bradford could only dream of avoiding. Although Bradford didn't put the ball up nearly as much as Romo did last season he took only one fewer sack than Romo. On the right team with a good OL and solid running game Bradford like Flacco could be a solid QB. He's never going to be a stat guy who's going to put up eye popping numbers.

Flacco's arm strength >>> Bradford's

Otherwise, yes, almost any QB would fare better in Balt....including Bradford.

Romo 2 Austin;5030553 said:
Fantasy thread sure. However without resigning Romo it may very well be the decision out front office is making come next year. Bradford will be receiving a crazy amount next year and after this year his cap hit for being released would not be outrageous. If he doesn't produce at a good level he might be on the outs from St.Louis after this year. If we can't resign Romo, he is out.

So here are the scenerios:

If St.Louis called up today and wanted to trade Sam Bradford for Tony Romo would you do it?

If come next off season we lost Tony Romo, would you pursue Sam Bradford in free agency?

Would you prefer to franchise tag Romo instead of going for Bradford?

I would most likely do the Romo for Bradford trade upfront if it does not seem like we could resign Romo. It's obvious Romo is the superior player, but Bradford is about 8 years younger. That counts for quite a bit.

Bradford... all day long.

Bradford is average. Rather trade a couple #1's and move up in the draft for an elite qb.
