It's not that he isnt a traditional QB, it's that he can't hit the broadside of a barn with the football. Dude couldnt throw a beach ball in the pacific ocean.
Luckily the game is not played with beachballs and on water.

The Titans sure seem to be having trouble with their first round picks lately. There was Titans first round pick in 2005, Pacman. Now it's Vince Young, their first rounder in 2006 (or was it in 2007?). Anybody know who they drafted in 2008?

Carson Palmer's QB rating has been steadily going down and he really struggled this last weekend. If they cut him should we take a flyer on him for our 3rd string QB?

2002 Albert Haynesworth--talented nut job
2003 Andre Woolfork--4 years, 3 INTs
2004 NO PICK
2005 Pacman--talented nut job
2006 Vince Young--not looking good right now
2007--Michael Griffin--too early to tell, but nothing special imo
2008--Chris Johnson--Lots of questions about getting another RB when they need WRs, but he is talented

1: He won't get cut

2: He sucks

3: The only thing more inconsistent than his play on the field is his emotional state off of it

4: He really sucks

That's coming from your Aggie heart ... which I'm not opposed to (fellow Aggie here).

But, Young is talented. He just hasn't been coached right. A lot of pressure was put on him early to perform, and he did. He took the Titans to the playoffs his first year, took them last year and had a bad first game.

He has lots of potential, IMO. Tennessee never developed him as a pro QB, though. Look at Cutler. They came out the same season, but didn't make him the starter. He learned how to be a pro QB before he had to be a starter, even though it was a lot sooner than the Broncos wanted.

Now look at Romo. He wasn't drafted, but had the benefit of sitting for 3-4 years and learning; watching how it's done. Young wasn't given that opportunity.

He is a good QB. He has tons of talent. He just needs to be allowed to mature into a solid NFL QB. All the intangibles are there. He just needs the pressure to be off of him for a while.

I doubt it would happen, but I would only sign him if it was a deal that Dallas could get out of with little sallary cap reprecussion to it. The real reason why Dallas has been able to get something out of Owens, Tank and Pac without them acting up is that they've signed similar "you screw up and you're done because Dallas can cut the ties with no problems." You really have to put these guys in that type of position. Also, it shows that when guys are away from football for awhile, they realize how much they miss it. So it's best to wait for VY to be suspended or not picked up for awhile.

I'll go against the grain and say yes, we should. With our O-line and weapons to hand off and throw to, he wouldn't stand out as much. He could definitely be a decent backup.

They won't cut him though.

Agree with all of that. I think he can throw alright, and in Dallas he has WRs and a TE that can get open consistently. Even if he struggles a bit with the mental part, he is a good enough athlete to make plays if he doesn't read a blitz or something.

But theres no way he goes anywhere, and no way he comes here as a #2.

Hypothetical question: Would you open a thread titled "Hypothetical Question" if you knew it involved Vince Young?

What if Vince Young gets cut should we take a look at him as a back up ? Wouldn't he be better then Bolinger? We have a lot more weapons then the titans, and I feel Romo TO and Red would help him regain confidence:cool:

Repeat after me:

VINCE YOUNG CANT PLAY QB

VINCE YOUNG CANT PLAY QB

Get over it already...the guy has never had, nor will he ever have the passing skill to be a quality NFL QB. I'm not even sure he would succeed in the CFL or AFL.

I dont' agree with those who believe that Young is not a QB in the NFL. He's never going to be a traditional QB but when he's healthy and his mind is right, nobody can deny the fact that he wins football games. I agree with the majority that say Tennessee will not cut him. However, I would not sign him if I were the Cowboys only because I don't believe he fits our offense but there are plenty of teams out there where he could play and would play IMO.

The Titans have not won games because of Young, they've won in spite of him. He was arguably the worst starting QB in football last yr, and he looked like the worst starting QB in football in preseason and in week one.

He cant play...he just doesnt have the throwing skill or ability to read defenses...good athlete, but terrible QB

Young will never be cut. he is a hell of a player and a winner...
he will bounce back and the Titans know it....

it takes time to develop into an NFL QB. it doesnt happen over night although lots of fans and press think it should for some while others get a pass...
I dont get this double standard

I would take him in a heart beat. I feel that his problem was that he did not get enough time to make the transition. I'll admit, he never was the brightest light bulb screwed in. To me that can be rectified with coaching, talent can not. If he has one thing it is talent, and a lot of it. From everything that I remember watching of him he has this winning factor about him. Maybe it is just that pressure does not get to him. So hypothetically yes, I would take him.
