Hypothetically Dak has a great season

I doesn't matter what Dak does this year. If the team fails and he puts up monster numbers, let him walk and sign a record contract elsewhere. If he wins a conference championship but puts up pedestrian numbers, try to work out a deal. If they catch lightning in a bottle, he wins the regular season and Super Bowl MVP, and brings a Lombardi home, give him what he wants, and make him partial owner.

The less teammates, the less productivity. I wish his agent respected Dak enough to bring that to his attention in a candid way.

It's not a choice between wealth and success. If he is willing to be patient he can have both. The more success he has in football, the more marketable he is after he leaves the NFL.
The common thing you hear anymore and I'm sure this is part of what agents are telling these superstar players it that its not just for them, but it's about those that come after them. These guys pushing for record deals year after year to better the contract situations for the next class and the Purdy's, Love's, and Strouds of the NFL can get their life changing contracts without being pressured to take less. I don't think agents care too much about what these guys do after football, for them it's about those checks coming in now.

Sports agents show their respect to their clients in only one way.....to get them the Highest and Best contracts they can and not a single penny less.

It's just the reality of it.
True...if that wasn't the case then players wouldn't need agents. It would be pretty easy for players to negotiate their own deals if they were giving discounts every time.

Depends on how much less, what is your break even line?
I say our top players should give $5 - $7 million back per year on a new contract extension than what the market dictates. This would help big time. Get paid among the top 20 at your position but help the team keep other talent around you at the same time.

But then Cowboys don’t spend money on free agency…..
That is a problem. Jerry overpays a handful few (and they take full advantage) while not having enough left to field or maintain an overall solid team that is competitive for the playoffs. I can appreciate finally putting his foot down this year. Now the players need to decide if they are willing to work with Jerry to get paid very well but at the same time help Jerry be able to put/keep better talent around them.

It absolutely kills me to say it because I'm a free market capitalist to the core but part of me wishes there was a cap on qb salaries.......all teams have to deal with this and there's only a handful that truly earn their own salary cap burdens.

I don't blame any of the qbs....it's just the way the system is.

Romo never came with magic when it mattered just like Dak. Mahomes is in a class of his own. I agree on Packers. Never built a proper team around him. The objective isn’t to get more with less. It’s to make your qb job as easy as possible…..
No. Romo had some magic we never see from Dak. He can't be blamed for Ref calls or Murray fumbles. Or Patrick Crayton drops. That's not on Romo. The Cowboys went into Seattle and beat them at their place in 2014. The Super Bowl champs than never lose at home. This is not something that Dak has ever done, or ever will do. We'll see it again this year when we get stomped in San Francisco again. Romo and the Cowboys at least come up big in some situations. Like when they beat the undefeated 13-0 Saints back in 2009 at their place. This is not going to happen with Dak no matter how long he plays for the Cowboys.

Part of me wishes that the owners had a salary cap on how much they are allowed to make off fans without producing anything.

We choose to let him play it out this season on his current number. Are we really going to enter contract negotiations with him then? If we don't like his offer now, we're going to like it later??? Later it's going to be way more than it is now. I don't get the hold up, put this conversation out of its misery please. Come out and say "we've seen his agents numbers, it doesn't align with what we feel at the moment!" "If he gets us further in the playoffs/Superbowl, we will happily make him the highest paid QB ever!"
Dak has had many "Great Seasons" yet here we are

The game is won in the trenches. I don’t care how good you are. If Jerry is waiting for a qb to come in and he can continue to ignore the trenches? He will be waiting a lifetime. I know it like like Chiefs ignore it but watch who they pay and watch who they don’t,…
So then let's pay Tyron Smith and let Dak walk.

Eagles won the SB with Nick Foles…how much balls did it take to let go of the cancer in your locker room?
They could get rid of Wentz because they knew they had a viable option to play quarterback. They got rid of the head coach that won their only Super Bowl at the same time as Wentz because they perceived him as part of the problem. Pederson and Wentz are still employed elsewhere in the NFL. Philly made significant changes in an effort to win another Super Bowl. They haven’t, but they do keep trying. Cowboys need a viable option to Prescott. Should move on from their head coach even though he once won a Super Bowl. I think Cowboys fans would appreciate the team’s willingness to move on when things don’t seem to be working.

What are you talking about? Regular season victories?

Dak led the Cowboys as a rookie to away game victories at the Steelers, Packers, Browns, 49ers and Commanders. Half of these teams (Steelers, Packers and 49ers) have always been tough to beat at home and in the playoffs.

The Eagles won the Super Bowl in 2017. Dak led the Cowboys to regular season victories both away and at home against those defending champion Eagles during the 2018 season (before Amari Cooper) when Dak's receiving weapons were an old Jason Witten, (Dez was no longer on the team after being released in the 2018 offseason), Allen Hurns, Cole Beasley, Tavon Austin, rookies Michael Gallup and Noah Brown, etc. Then led a home playoff victory against the Seahawks led by Russell Wilson when 2018 was Russell Wilson's best career statistical year and currently has the 2nd highest career passer rating (100.3), second only to Aaron Rodgers (103.1).

There is more but you probably can't handle those Dak facts.
