He lost me at thinking In and Out is better than Whataburger.

Not a chance.

Whataburgers ketchup alone should be patented.

If the biggest problem we run into over the course of Gregory's contract is hamburgers we are in great shape

Pretty much in line with both my experience and opinion. One doesn't have to eat a lot of kale and spinach to eat healthy/put on weight. There is so much real deliciousness that beats the crap out of fast food. Steaks, eggs prepared a dozen different ways, meat/rice/veggie medley hash, etc. that is 10x more healthy and will do a better job of helping with weight gain.

I wouldn't advise anyone "take my word" on anything. But generally speaking doctors are too overworked to be up to date on something outside of their area of specialty, and the "general consensus" is quite behind the science curve still. Like the continued demonization of fat and cholesterol for instance.

Don't anyone take his word - way off base, especially considering the improvements in cardiovascular disease outcomes by treating athersclerosis with diet, aerobics, and statins.
Entire families that were for generations dying off by the age of 60 are now living productively into their 80's and 90's.

Not a big deal- his body can handle it.

Lousivlle Basketball a few years ago had a player named Francisco Garcia who was super talented but super skinny.

His diet every night was to drink two large chocolate shakes from McDonalds- it didnt affect his play at all.

Players eating fast food and performing at high levels is not uncommon.

I've heard it explained before that they just need the guy (who needs to gain) to just get in the habit of eating. The nutritionist is going to be educating them all during camp I'm sure.

Once again do not question moderation publicly. Here's the previous advice given in this thread.

Enough bickering please.

People may or may not supply their source for their posts. If you don't like their posts say so or ignore it/them then move on after civil and reasonable debate.

If you question moderation PM the staff member, report their post and/or PM another staff member. Doing it publicly will likely get you benched.

We all try hard, dislike benching people, or deleting posts. We are all human so keep that in mind.

I haven't gone through all of the pages of this thread, so maybe this has been mentioned on page 4 or something, but those who are seriously concerned about the quality of Gregory's diet need to research Michael Phelps' diet. Possibly the greatest Olympian ever took in all kinds of "crappy calories" and did just fine. Yes, high quality calories are preferred in most ordinary situations. However, these high level athletes who have incredible metabolisms like Gregory (based on his comments about gaining weight) are different. They have much more leeway than the average person. Eskimo's comments (as usual) are absolutely correct. Gregory needs lots of calories, including plenty of protein and fat, if he wants to gain weight. He is working out all the time. Sloppy weight gain is not a real concern in his situation.

Not that this really matters, because plenty of people can be knowledgeable about nutrition/exercise, but I have an undergraduate degree in exercise science, and a doctorate in physical therapy. I've also exercised/weight trained for over 30 years. I do know a little about exercise and nutrition.

Gregory needs to go to Wienerschnitzel and have 3 Chicago dogs, an order of chili cheese fries then head over to Baskin Robbins and wash it all down with their 2300 calorie death shake.

When he's working out he can do that everyday!!!!!

Most people fail to realize that these guys have the metabolism of a bunny on cocaine. So in order togain any weight they literally ate told to eat whatever. Once they hot their target weight or actually a little above it, the nutritionist kicks in and helps them build upon what's on place.

Cocaine? I remember my days before cameras were on every cell phone out there... Thank goodness I stopped that stuff. I'd be viral a thousand times over.

Gregory recently had this quote when interviewed:

"I live on In-N-Out, probably go to In-N-Out every day. I lived on the West Coast. I've had Whataburger. I had that about 3 o'clock in the morning one time, I think when I first came out here to visit. Wasn't too impressed. Any calories I put in is good, they don't care what it is. I probably order pizza every other night. The important thing is I'm gaining weight. That's what they wanted."

Ok, color me confused. But if his statement is correct, what does it say about the nutritional program of the Dallas Cowboys?

I was under my own personal assumption that the nutritional diet of professional players could/would be as exact and stringent as for Hollywood action movie actors (I'm in the entertainment business, so its dear to my heart and knowledge). Basically, what I am saying is that I assumed that professional football trainers were teaching their 2nd round draft choices the science of nutrition and the simple fact that all calories are definitely not created equal. Now, 21 years old's seem to be able to eat anything. And genetically gifted 99.9%ers like Gregory even more so. But just because it seems you CAN, doesn't mean you should.

Because a specialized diet of high organic nutritional foods, including high lean organic protein, nutrient rich organic carbs and tons of fruits and vegetables is vastly superior to Whatafreakinburger. I would have thought the team would have a chef freaking preparing 7 meals a day for Gregory, having him eat a regular intervals and having him consuming 5-6k calories of nutrient dense material.

Are NFL teams still living in the stone age of nutrition?

Chances of getting in 6K cal/a day from the foods you mentioned would be extremely difficult and unlikely. Not saying I fully agree with the eating strategy the Cowboys have "prescribed"..

Olympic swimmers consume over 7000 calories a day they're able to burn all those calories from the many hours they spend in a pool each day. Michael Phelps consumed close to 10,000 calories a day during his swimming career and stayed skinny. A lot of swimmers diets consist of high calorie junk food that's the only way they can get enough calories. I have a pool and swimming laps can really burn off calories. Gregory needs to bulk up as much as he can because he needs to add some weight he'll lose at least 10-12 pounds during camp. I'm sure he'll be living on burgers, fries, shakes and pizza all summer.

Blake's Lotaburger > Whataburger

Mighty Fine Burger is a formidable entry also.
They make some mean patties...

Edit: I think that's only in Austin though... I mean, that's the only place I ever saw it.
