I am kind of perplexed as to their thinking at OG

They'll put the 5 best out there. They think they are going to sit Steele or one of the Smith's?
I personally love the idea of having Tyron as our swing tackle. Considering his health issues recently.

I recognize he is still very good when healthy but it’s just so hard to rely on him actually being healthy.

Just sign free agent.
I think they probably believe they have flex with Chuma Edoga.

I can't figure it out either. They had a chance to upgrade it.. But it seems like you'd want to upgrade your line. It just seems weird.

Yes.

My concern is who is the long term option at LG. The idea that Tyron can get through a full season healthy to allow Tyler to play LG seems pretty pie in the sky.
Draft Zavala or Bradford in the 4th and hope they’re ready by the time Tyron gets hurt.

They both have starting potential but need some developing.

Totally agree but it sure seems like Tyler is moving to guard. We don’t have enough depth at guard to play him at tackle. I can’t believe we’re going into another season relying on Tyron to be healthy. Absolute stupidity.
Yeah. This is my biggest concern.

I’m fine with the picks of Schoonmaker and Overshown IF I didn’t think there’s a glaring need at LG.

They are either deluding themselves into thinking Tyron will actually stay healthy all season or they think Edoga can be a decent starter at LG.

I don’t feel good about either of those things. To be honest.
Tyron can't stay healthy.

I like McClendon Curtis. But feel like they should address it soon. LG is an important spot. It will help all positions.

Still lots of RBs and WRs that you can find.

Like Cropper, Tiyon Evans, Dewayne McBride, their guy Gonzales.

I don’t get it either.

I just hope that nobody starts trying to talk up Edoga or Ball as legit options because they failed to do anything.
Maybe they have their eyes on a vet with another team.........via trade or release. Keep in mind we have a new OLine coach

Joking aside. Riddle me this.

If the expectation is that you're going to cut the player sooner or later anyhow, why go so far as to publicly announce that you're moving him from tackle to guard?

Easier for me to believe there's a genuine expectation that Josh Ball is going to get a genuine look. Otherwise, if he's really as Broaddus just suggested "positionless," why say anything at all? That's nonsense.

You don't take a position just because it is a spot you need to shore up if there aren't players you like there. We will have a really good starting 5 week one with The 2 Smiths, Steele, Martin and Biadasz. What we do when Smith goes down is the question. Maybe they like Edoga and maybe there are some other FAs out there they think can fill in. Clearly for 2024 we will need another OL as Tyron is on borrowed time even when he is healthy

If they are willing to roll with Tyron at LT and kick Tyler inside, I have no problem passing on OL, but it didn’t sound as if they wanted to move Tyler off LT last I heard.

Also as @AsthmaField pointed out elsewhere, don’t count out Waletzko.

YOU may not like him but if the team does, well then….

With Farinok and the Jets guy whose name I refuse to learn, they may be better served drafting for elsewhere, and that does seem like the plan.

Okay. The obvious concern is Tyron going down which falls to whether or not Waletzko can play because at this point that is as good as it gets.

Avila or Torrence are not to beat out Smith/Steele at LG and we can worry about next year next year.

They could come back in the 4th and grab an OG but after that, it's mostly projects.

They must be banking on the belief Steele is ahead of schedule and Tyron will stay healthy allowing Tyler Smith to play LG. Seems like a real risky plan.

Farniok is blah. Ball? Please. They had an up close look at what a dominant OL could do at the height of Frederick/Smith/Martin and yet for some reason, they seem content with pretty mediocre play at OC and LG.

I remember hearing they viewed Farniok neck and neck with McGovern. Plus they are planning on Tyler being there when Tyron is in. Obviously they aren't overly concerned. Not that their concern or lack thereof is always accurate.

Steele will start game 1?

The Cowboys think they are fine on the offensive line. To be honest how many starting lines are better then Tyron, Tyler, Badacz, Martin and Steele. Plus they have the cap space to sign a free agent guard if they want.
How long is Tyron gonna actually play? 3 games or less? Over under?

The thing this our oline is going to be competing against top notch dlines in the NFCE for a third of the regular season. Do we really expect that Tyron will play all year? And even if he does, he’s a shell of his former self. And that Steele will be fully healed by the start of the season? Never mind the fact we have no left guard. And Martin isn’t going to be around forever. Where is the rational roster planning in this organization?

The Mazi pick was a good one, but man, I can’t help but think they should have been building the oline in the 2nd and 3rd.
