I am not in to conspiracy theories, but what is up with officiating?

It ain't like Washington got all the calls. It's just bad officiating all the way around.

Yes. They were consistant.

But the official's let the talking to escalate. They could have stopped it at the double face mask calls against Beazley.

It's one thing if it's a 50-50 type of call but how can they not call Bease getting his face mask pulled and head whacked on the same play? Even the Deadskins DB was shocked it wasn't called.
This is the real problem.

If they let both teams play physical, I'm fine with it. But once they start grabbing face masks, they are going to get someone hurt.

Beasley is, perhaps, the best slot receiver in the game today. But he won't have much of a life of the refs LET someone break his neck.

It's beyond scary at this point.

This thread exists for every team after every game.

Problem is that there is no consistency in the rules. The NFL needs full time refs to meet and train in the same critical areas of holding, interference...etc. so expectations are understood. Right now Each crew works differently and the players have to change what they can get away with. Frustrating.

The weird thing about yesterday's game that kept bothering me was the refs consistently giving Washington an extra half yard to yard on the spots. But were marking us a half yard to yard less on spots. It seemed consistent throughout the game, and I've never really seen that happen.

Holds, as we all know, can be called basically every play. Our All Pro players were called for three to four questionable holds(mayle also had a horrible one) while their no namers got away with 3 tackle holds.

This is the key. These are old dudes with real jobs. Pro refs are needed. People complain about the NBA, but the are by far the best refs in sports. MLB umps are good too.

Our receivers are getting mugged right infront of the refs, facemasks not getting called, getting body slammed to the ground, getting pushed, shoved, and even slapped in the helmet after the plays, ect.....

AND NO FLAGS:huh:

Seriously, did Jerry not let Blandino get lap dances in the party bus this year so this is payback?

They are trying to keep games close.

If we get those calls then yesterday's game is nap time in the 2nd half.

This what I'm beginning to think as well. If Dallas ran away with the game in the first half, ratings would have tanked. Hence the clear missed PI on Butler during our second drive.

Because so many calls and ball spots are debatable, the refs can nudge these things in one direction or another to make a game more competitive. If they do this, whether it's intentional or not is another issue, but I'm certain the league isn't going to punish them for calling more exciting games.

Babe talked throughout the game yesterday about how Norman's whole game is built around holding and grabbing. he said watching film of him he gets away with holding and grabbing on every play and expected a number of calls on him yesterday.

During the broadcast he was shocked they were not getting holding penalties on the washington DB's.

That Beasley no flag was particularly bad. There were two penalties there. A face mask and then a hand to the face.

But officiating is bad throughout the league. Every team deals with it.

Yea that one was especially bad. Beasley nearly got his head ripped off on a face mask that wasn't called a couple weeks ago too. Dude can't draw a flag.

There was a play and I can't remember if it was the 3rd or 2nd quarter but Tyrone crawford nearly had his jersey ripped off chasing cousins and nothing, no call. The cowboys sideline went crazy. It was as obvious as it gets. and they picked up a first down on the play and scored a few plays later.

It was an odd game. The officials better get the taunting in check with Dallas games though or there are going to be fights soon. Everyone is now doing it and it will only get worse, the officials yesterday let washington do whatever they wanted.

They'll likely get a handle on it by throwing Dez out for retaliating to physical dirty play by yelling at the player like he did Norman. Then acting like both are equally at fault. The broadcast was not saying the instigators(Commanders) were at fault. Rather, both had equal responsibility and the refs better get it under control.

being a ref isnt as easy as it looks, and they dont always have the right angle to see what we see on camera.
or they may not be looking at the area the fowl occurs when it happens.

To me let the coaches challenge these non calls..... Its their time out to lose, and would really highlight some of the unequal treatment going on right in front of our eyes.

After hearing the "Norman will travel with Dez this time" talk, I rewatched the first game all22 and Norman is absolutely mugging whoever he covers on almost every play.

I assume they let it go against Dez because he's a big physical receiver. Just call it the same both ways is all I ask.

yea babe seemed to really be unimpressed with norman. He was laughing about and saying he didn't understand how he is getting away with holding and grabbing so much.

I didn't think the officiating was particularly good and played a role in keeping the game closer than it was...

Troy Aikman has long advocated for instant replay to allow on pass interference calls? Is it now time to allow 1 coaches challenge a game dedicated to a missed call from the officials...really what's a couple more delays in an NFL game? Might be worth considering...
