How the heck does a FO go out and sign a FA who isn't even in football shape??????????? They signed some fat old dude who will probably need weeks of practice just to get him in sideline shape, let alone game shape!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Because they were responding to the public outcry for not going out and signing someone.

This is a message board.
Not a court of law.
If he can act the way he does and use this board the way he wishes without being driven out by the powers that be, so be it.

I use this board for my entertainment.
So do you.

We all use this board for the gathering of information of our team that we love and react how we do.

How judgmental we are getting!
Lol, can't believe you took the time to type that.

Take a step back bubba.

Yeah. It stinks. I'm sure your relationships throughout your life haven't been unicorns and rainbows.
Marital problems stink.
They're terrible and I never wish them upon anyone.
But what they sow, so shall they reap.
So I’ve heard. I’ve never been separated or had that big of spat with wife . She’s always right. Lol

You're blessed.
I'm just glad to be in a relationship with no worries now.
We're both happy with who we are and who we are with each other.

The only 40+ signing that would be ok is a guy named Brady. Other than him I really don’t get it. Has it gotten that bad that Jerry could sign Larry Allen and everyone is talking like it’s adding Deion in 95? LOL, brainwashed fan base.

Peters loss of freak athleticism is more than made up by his IQ, technique and brutality.

Peters is easily the 2nd best OL on the Cowboys even with zero minutes of training camp.

Only 3 penalties in 15 games last season, let that sink in.

its fair for people to get excited that we found a stop gap to help take some of the pressure off of Smith as he is acclimating to the nfl...Peters graded out very soundly last year, is a proven leader and can be a great mentor to help the line come together.
Doesn't mean we are going to the superbowl, but its better to have him than where we were last week before we signed him.

Exactly, we're better off now than we were before.

All we need him to be is a solid player. Not elite, not an all pro or pro bowl guy. Just decent enough to bridge the gap until next year while giving Tyler pointers.

he may not be what he was but you know he’ll give you his all, be prepared and is a dog. I’ll take that for a season considering the alternatives. I’m not sure why being happy it’s him instead of an unknown or just ok young guy makes anyone a sucker here

Not sure what excitement you are imagining. People are talking about it because otherwise there isn't much to talk about at the moment. It is a positive thing. I don't know how long you've been watching the game but I and others have seen lots of examples of teams signing an older O-lineman for a season and it working out great. Remember Ray Donaldson? Last year's SB champs had an old OL on it. Peters fills a need for one season. It's a positive thing, people speak positively of it. Maybe you are one of these people who find everything to be yet another reason to bash jerry. Jerry bashing is so cool.

I guess we'll see how smart this deal is at the end of the season. But why be certain of failure before the season starts?

Oh, I'm not certain it will be a failure. Hell, it just might work.
Just not what I would've done. So far we've seen one LT play
well at that age... one.

Making the Brady comparison isn't even close though.

The way the game has changed, I'm surprised a genetic freak like T.O.
isn't out there at 44, or whatever his age is now. Certain positions now
allow for a few old guys out there but linemen over 35 tend to break
down fast. With that said, if he's on the field for Dallas, I'll be rooting for him.
At least until he starts looking like Chaz Green. Then, he's gotta go... lol

Just be happy the team did ANYTHING to address Smith's injury. The usual course of action would be to declare that we like our "depth".

The depth was needed so no reason to be negative about the signing. But best case scenario is Peters never plays LT because Smith plays well the 1st 2 weeks and runs with the job.

Peters hasn’t played RT since 2005 so I’m curious about the possibility of him playing there if Steele struggles…which I think is a legit worry no one is talking about. I personally don’t think the odds of Steele being a good RT all season are much better than Smith being able to play LT.
I think the most likely scenario is that Tyler is adequate (with some rookie mistakes) but McGovern stinks the place up so bad that they go with Peters/Tyler on the left anyway.
