I can’t believe how many are so excited about a 40yr old signing

They signed Peters today simply because they lost Tyron Smith to injury so I'm sorry but going into the season knowing Tyron has been recently injury riddled they did add Smith in the 1st round. Outside of that you point to a 5th rounder when Dallas has question marks at LG, C, and RT.

So I'm not sure how they did a great job but we all see things differently.
I believe that they have been working on signing Peterson before Tyron got hurt. It took a lot of work to identify the best option and to get it done. In the mean time their young tackles got valuable reps and Peters didn't need or want training camp. I actually think the would have signed Peters even if Tyron wasn't hurt.

It goes to show just how uneventful our offseason was. Some fans are so delusional they’re acting like Peters is the same player he was 15 years ago. Lol Jerry was spinning on the radio just three days ago that this is the best value roster he’s had in years. Never seen anyone try to spin so many positives in the face of so many negatives.

Two things.

1. Stop listening to Jerry speak. It will only give you ulcers. I don't click on the articles or videos that feature him anymore. It's not the best information, and I cringe every time he says something. He's probably a great guy, but he shouldn't be the official mouthpiece of the organization.
2. The only thing you need to focus on in this signing is this question. Do you believe Jason Peters is better at LT than Ball or Waletzko? If yes, then it was a good signing. Like Parcells said you have to always work on churning the bottom of you roster.

Consider this a move in the right direction to churn the bottom of the roster. The question through the rest of the year is going to be will someone else become available who is better than Jason Peters? If the answer is yes, then we should consider churning the roster again if possible.

Funny, I remember 5 years ago when people thought signing a 40 year old Brady was crazy

You're comparing playing QB in an era where they essentially are
bubble wrapped and can't be touched to playing LT where two 300lb.
men beat and bang on each other the entire game. Smh

That is what I mean. You use this place to be a clown. Your own entertainment.
This is a message board.
Not a court of law.
If he can act the way he does and use this board the way he wishes without being driven out by the powers that be, so be it.

I use this board for my entertainment.
So do you.

We all use this board for the gathering of information of our team that we love and react how we do.

How judgmental we are getting!

I guess we'll see how smart this deal is at the end of the season. But why be certain of failure before the season starts?

The only 40+ signing that would be ok is a guy named Brady. Other than him I really don’t get it. Has it gotten that bad that Jerry could sign Larry Allen and everyone is talking like it’s adding Deion in 95? LOL, brainwashed fan base.

Hmm wasn’t the starting tackle for the Super Bowl winning Rams 40???

I think the conditions for signing Peters would have to be:

1. You are desperate at LT due to an injury.
2. Your back up plans have not panned out well.
3. Your back up to your back up plans have not panned out.
4. The loss of you LT has shown how little depth and capacity you actually have on the o-line.

How I saw it.

1. Tyron is got a possible season/career ending injury.
2. Tyler was part of a development plan not only for him, but for McGovern and Biadazs. Now the plan has to accelerate.
3. Waletzko and Ball have not proven themselves to be homeruns as backup LT or LG material.
4. The loss of Tyron has made it clear how close we are to another injury leading to a total meltdown of the cohesiveness and experience of the o-line.

Picking up Peters who has played both LT, RT and the guard position he provides the o-line with a lot of position flex options regardless of unforeseen injury.

This is a good pick up, and you gotta believe Philbin is not crapping his pants anymore.
So Peters wasn’t interested in trying to get on with anyone else this year?

Brady? I wouldn't be "ok" with him. He's nothing without a great Oline. And his age will be another factor displaying it's time to hang up your cleats & listen to your wife.

Didn’t his wife leave or is she already back? Lol

He played decent last year and it takes a 1/2 tank of gas to get around the dude.

Should be a positive influence on our young tackles as well.

It's a good signing. Peters as very good for Chicago last season and we were in dire need of tackle depth. It was a no brainer low-risk, high-reward signing that the Cowboys typically fail to make.

Is Peters even going to play Sun nite . Maybe instead of 2 TE we can line Peters and Tyler up at LT together.

How the heck does a FO go out and sign a FA who isn't even in football shape??????????? They signed some fat old dude who will probably need weeks of practice just to get him in sideline shape, let alone game shape!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
