Rush has "saved our bacon" since Dak has been out and deserves credit for that.

Whenever Dak is healthy and given the green light to start, I'll gladly support him.

OTOH, it's anyone's guess what happened to Dak in game 1. Let's hope it's over.
It's actually that simple. Too bad we are fighting over this. Rush has exceeded all expectations by a hundred miles and held the fort brilliantly. And if we go anywhere beyond the first play off game this season he will deserve a big chunk of the praise. The downplaying of that by Dak fans was rather saddening.

That goes for Rush fans too though. Now our starting QB is coming back. And while I have been saying that I won't advance any trust in him anymore because of his last performances I really hope he will gain that trust back by just showing us on the field, that he is the guy to lead this team. Not by coughing up crap into microphones, but by being in control of his offense, delivering in clutch situations and reading defenses well.

Oh, and Dak... please find your rungame again... you left it somewhere in 2016... ;)

Something tells me you don't really want to see him on the field again -- I could be wrong, though. o_O

I'm neither pro nor against Dak atm. We just don't know what to expect. But he sucked in his last games. In order to find out whether he has overcome this we need to see him play behind this constantly improving o line. So you're wrong, I do want him to start as soon as he's healthy. It's just not the "yaaay, thank god he's back" moment but rather the "ok dude, show me what you've got" approach. I couldn't be happier if he played lights out again. With this defense and a truly capable QB we'd be the hottest team in the league. It's the missing piece in the puzzle.

Seems like you guys have forgotten what "moderate" even means over all those stupid love/hate threads.

Rest assured that nobody wants to see Dak play the way he did vs. the Bucs in game one. I certainly don't, although, I honestly think his confidence took a hit before going into that one. I don't expect to see him running that much anymore, since what speed he had seems to have taken a hike these days. That ankle is probably somewhat too stiff now and that's not making excuses, just what oftentimes occurs after major injuries. I tend to avoid the love/hate arguments as much as possible and try to take a moderate stance on that.

I can't help but wonder if Dak ever regains what confidence he once had but we'll see. Here's hoping we'll see a renewed QB at the helm, rather than the one who performed so poorly vs. Tampa Bay. I wouldn't be averse to drafting a QB next year, to be totally honest. Sometimes, various injuries pile up on otherwise capable athletes to rob them of their former abilities. We may learn about that and more in the weeks to come. ;)

Well let's review.
hes lost 3 out of his last 4 only beating a eagle's team that a college team could have defeated easily.
the other 3 games hes lost and looked horrible. so I could wait for him to come back. He's been defensed folks, he'll lose more than he wins from this day forward. It happens all the time, guys come in look good in the right system. Slowly they get discovered and they dissappear.
You're left with the check.

I don’t understand all the hate for Dak in this forum. I applaud the work Rush has done as a capable backup QB, but I can’t wait for Dak to get back and take our offense to another level. Let him play this Sunday, Coach Jerry. He gives us our best chance to beat Philly!

Bring Back Dak!!!

Amen brother he needs to be leading our team against our undefeated division rival this is a huge game and we need his skill set out there
Mobility is key in this game and he has got to go out and prove himself by winning these divisional matchup

Something was off with Dak in the first game. He was awful, hope he got it cleared up or rested.

We can only hope. Gotta wonder if the pressure and backlash he is facing from the media and fans has mentally gotten to him.

He also seems hesitant to play fearless since the ankle injury. Can hardly blame him since his ankle was broken so horrifically, but it sure seems like as soon as the game gets adverse and the competition gets fierce, he looks hesitant and indecisive.

Maybe the time off has given him a chance to clear his head. Or maybe he will come back under more pressure than ever. Huge year for Dak in many, many ways

But was it because of the ankle injury? He played great in the first 6 games last season. It all started with that calf injury. When he came back after that Minny game Rush won, he was never the same again.

But whatever the reason is, there is no excuse. He has to deliver. And I wouldn't even care if he lost his first game, I'd at least give him 5 games before I make up my mind. But he has to deliver, no matter what. And no "o line was bad / rungame was bad" nonsense. Rush would have never been granted those excuses by Dak lovers. He's gotta show up. End of story.

I think Dak will play well too, but I also thought that about Week 1 and he played like garbage.

Rush has been great and we’re winning, so Dak needs to prove Week 1 was a fluke (whenever he returns). If he keeps struggling, go back to Rush.
Rush hasn't been "great". He's been what he's supposed to be: a stop gap, not winning games, just not losing them.

Let me try and explain the hate for Dak for I am one that strongly dislikes him.

Personally, he is a good guy and I don't dislike him.

I don't like him professionally because I am positive he is a 10-15 ranked QB at any given time and yet we paid him as a franchise QB with the value of a top 5 QB.

He has clear decencies and our professional staff and amateur fans rank him his a top 5. This causes me to despise him. I am on record years ago for staying he is worth 30/year for 3/4 years.

Is Rush better than him? At a professional level probably not. At a Business level absolutely.

I want the best for the cowboys and for me that means not signing top tier contracts for a QB that has clear issues.

As a life long Dallas Cowboys fan, I know we can do better at our #1 spot. I hate the misdirection that happens because we have a player that can sell jerseys.

We will never win a SB with Dak as our QB. Mark this for the future. It's cemented. Won't happen.

I can't wait either. With this defense, and now that Rush has shown the path forward is on the ground and not through the air, by showing us that offensive line was never the problem, by going undefeated in his absence, Dak has no excuse not to succeed with this team. None.

I want the Cowboys to win ( the team)...attaching the emotion to this player or that player is not healthy ..enjoy the success and don't dwell on loses.

Yeah… that’s a good point on the calf injury. Dak blew it off, but it sure seemed like his game was different following his return. He mopped up comfortably against mediocre and poor teams, but he struggled more than normal when he faced a decent D.

And you are right. He has to deliver. This D is performing at a level not seen since the Doomsday days. Historic for sure. He has no excuses. He must elevate his play and serve the team by playing smart and efficient football.

If he can find 2016 Dak Prescott, he can go undefeated when he returns if the D continues to play to it’s current form.

Is Dak the more dynamic QB? Absolutely. Is he the more elusive QB? Absolutely. Does the defense have to account for him as a two-way threat? Absolutely.

I feel Dak’s shortcomings are that he is unable to read defenses as quickly as Rush, causing him to hold on to the ball too long, either taking the sack or making an ill-advised throw, forcing the ball into coverage. It seems Rush processes things quickly and cuts the ball loose with a quicker release; to the appropriate receiver where he can catch it and run.

Dak is being paid like a franchise QB, so he tries to do the things franchise QBs can do; there is no way Dak compares to a Allen, Mahomes or Jackson; he doesn’t have the ability to break down defenses with his physical or mental abilities, but he doesn’t know that.
.
Rush’s strength is that he knows his limitations and he works within the framework of the gameplan. He allows others around him to make plays; he takes what the defense gives him, takes care of the football and doesn’t make mistakes that hurt the team. He has done that consistently versus an array of defenses.

We will play Philly again and no doubt Dak will be at the helm for the rematch, but let’s let Cooper handle this one. He has earned the opportunity to remain the starter. Playing Dak with maybe a week of practice is short-sighted;
