I can’t wait for Dak to get back

I am with you.

In Dak and Zeke's historic rookie seasons they actually gameplanned eating the clock because they knew that the best defense was to keep the opponent offense on the bench. The Cowboys best defensive weapon in 2016 was actually Ezekiel Elliott and that great offensive line.

It worked. The Cowboys were ranked #2 in time of possession, and this meant more rest for the defense so they could enter the game fresher. They needed that in a season were the sack leader was Bensen Mayowa (Who?) with 6 and the leading interceptor was Barry Church with 2 followed by a 7 way tie for 2nd place with 1.

The following season 2017, Jeff heath took the INT numbers by storm with a total of 3. Randy Gregory and DeMarcus Lawrence had begun their new tradition of season starting suspensions on a rotational basis. Tyrone Crawford was consistent.....when it came to being injured.

In 2018 there was competition for the Cowboys INT leader. It ended as a two way tie between a LB and a safety, of course, with 2 INT's each.....of course

2020 was a banner year for INT's when the team hit double digits for the first time in 6 seasons. They had 10. The new INT leader was a rookie, Trevon Diggs.

What I am saying is that Dak Prescott has never been supported by a defense with the quality of this season. We saw the improvement last season, although it was stunted by constant injuries.

Imagine an offense with Dak Prescott in which they know if they can score 24 points they will win 80% of their games. Imagine an offense in which they don't have to throw constantly in the 2nd half in order to catch up. They can let their RB's eat the clock while wearing out the opponent defense.

A healthy Dak can capitalize on the field position gifted by his defense. A cohesive defense can stifle their competition. Dak can deliver the dagger halfway through the 3rd quarter and sit back in his high octane offense fueled by the running of Zeke and Pollard.

This defense combined with a diverse offense is what we have all been waiting for these last 25 seasons.

This season Dak is afforded his finest opportunity to bring a ring back.

This is why getting Dak back is so important. I get fans being enamored with Cooper Rush, who has been saved by this defense on numerous occasions. The bar has been lowered so much in Cooper's case that we are satisfied to say that he didn't screw it all up like Cassell, Weeden, Kellen, Gilbert, Dinucci, and Jerry's gardener.

Cooper Rush can maintain offensive momentum but he cannot create any of his own.

This season as a starter, Cooper Rush has played from behind for less than 11 minutes clock time for all four combined starts. He was never behind by more than 7 points and that was for a total of 5 minutes and 14 seconds of clock time. If Cooper ever played in a game where he was 14-17 points behind, I don't think he could recover.

Great analysis and a well informed post. I am glad there are people here that can back their opinions with well informed data. This is exactly what I think is the formula for success, a balanced time consuming attack. Keeps the defense fresh and ready to dial it in. The problem when Dak has been on the field is that KM depends on his arm a lot and gets away from the run game. If he continues with the strategy he uses for Rush even when Dak gets back, we will be a team to beat. We had the number 1 scoring offense last year with Dak, because we had three solid WRs. We are short on WRs this season, but have two very capable RBs. Keep it balanced regardless of the QB and Dak gives us a much higher % of winning games, regardless of the opponent. If you let Dak sling it all over the place this season, we are not going anywhere.

Well then, let me enlighten you (said in jest, not condescending): "Great" would be throwing for 250-300 yards, with three TDs, and no ints.

He's doing what he's paid to do, at the salary he's earned to do it. He's gotten lucky several times, been very good several times, and hasn't cost us any games by being inept. His knowledge of the playbook and ability to read defenses is probably above average, but his athletic ability is very limited.

He's probably one of the better backups in the league, but that doesn't mean he's been playing great. I'm satisfied with the job he's done, but I don't expect him to carry the team on his back for even a quarter of a game.
Best assessment of Cooper Rush I've read thus far.
2022 is his 6th season in the NFL; all but 6 months of it has been with the Cowboys.
I was one of those not impressed with Rush since his arrival in Dallas back in 2017.
However, he has proven me wrong. He has studied and understood the offense his former teammate- now OC - wants him to do. He stepped in and came through when Prescott was injured - because the defense is overwhelming the opposition - and he is not being inept.
Will be a difficult game for him Sunday night; but if the defense stifles the opposition's offense - or even gets a score - the Cowboys can pull off the upset.

I don’t understand all the hate for Dak in this forum. I applaud the work Rush has done as a capable backup QB, but I can’t wait for Dak to get back and take our offense to another level. Let him play this Sunday, Coach Jerry. He gives us our best chance to beat Philly!

Bring Back Dak!!!
You are to smart for this forum...

Its pretty simple. A handful of fans on here, and we all know who they are got their panties in a wad when Dak was allowed to remain the starter over Romo. Those same people then developed a hatred for Dak. They began saying stupid things about Dak in their hatred. He was a backup material, he was average, yada yada yada. We have heard all the laughable claims that have been proven dead wrong over his 6 year career. The more Dak has success and the team under Dak, the more these same trolls look bad. So they do whatever they can to try and discredit him. The only problem is it makes them look like like know nothings as they say dumb things like Dalton is better or Rush is better and it always blows up in their face.

By admitting Dak is a top 10 QB they would essentially be admitting they got all of it wrong about Dak. Their pea size little egos wont allow them to ever do that. So they continue to root against Dak and the team in hopes that they can save some face with team failures.

The argument was won years ago by the Dak supporters. This is just casual mop up duty as the team gets better and has more success. Their last false bastion of hope for any kind of angle.

If that is true, than there is more pressure on Dak now more than ever to get the Cowboys to a SB...because all the pieces are in place......I hope he succeeds but if not the Jones boys really need to consider and alternative QB.

It's probably the most pressure he has been in since his rookie season. We have to at least be a legit contender to get to a SB, not like last year. The gap between Rush and Dak should provide that. The D is in place.

I'm ready to see him gone just like Jason Garrett, they are one of the same. They are wasting players' and fans' lives for 7 and 10 years. sheesh, get the crap over with, and let's move on. I'm tired of wasting years watching the same crap. At least right now it's fun watching Rush prove that Dak is the problem.

Are you serious????? We thought Prescot was going to take this team to the promise land last season, but when the second half rolled around, DCs were able to expose Prescot for who he really is. Then on opening night everyone was fired up because Prescot told us all that he was ready to ROCK and ROLL this season, but Tampa came in and exposed him for who he really is, which is a below average QB who builds his stats off of bad clubs in this league or games where the Boys are so far behind that defenses jump into their PREVENT D early in games which allows Prescot to get easy passing yds. Prescot hasn't beaten a team with a decent record in years..................LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know how a lot (not all) of that hate can evaporate? When Dak comes back our offense is taken to another level. That has to happen, otherwise there's no reason to be paying him.

Forget this week. The pressure is all on Philly to win at home against a backup. But win or lose, Dallas has to be playing like a serious contender to make the SB this year when Dak comes back.

And this is the problem.

We are winning without a QB trying to take it to the next level. We are winning at this level and that's why there's so much anxiety about Dak. Dak cannot carry a team, that's clear. Rush can't carry a team, that's clear. But the team can carry them. Rush has let the team do that - will Dak?

And that is the question.

What recent, relevant evidence of superior competency from Dak are you putting forward in favor of your argument? (Hint: There is none.)
Where did y’all come from man I’m not arguing over Dak you missed out on that why are y’all just showing up this week?

You may have misinterpreted my post. No fault of your own, it's my fault.

I just meant that the gameplan we're running right now should be a lot more effective with Dak at QB. If it isn't, there's no reason to pay our QB what we're paying him.

me too, these wins mean nothing without dak. I hope they cut Rush for showing the world how any quarterback can win here. I hate Rush just like I hate Romo.
