I want to see Dak come back and play as he did in 2016.
I want him to follow the game plan and not be baited into changing the plays.
Cooper Rush has proved that Dak has all the tools on this team at this point to go deep into the playoffs.

In year seven this is as good a Dak as we will ever see. As much as I like him I like the team more and if he can't lead this team with these tools he currently has we flat out have to draft a quarterback That is on a rookie contract and allows us to add four more impact players to this team.

It's just that simple no matter how much we love him Cooper Rush has proved that this is a deep playoff team with the right quarterback leading the team.

That quarterback and four other impact players can be had for $40 million if Dak cannot produce this season as we cannot afford to waste this defense.

Rush hasn't been "great". He's been what he's supposed to be: a stop gap, not winning games, just not losing them.
That is great because 4 wins (against the two superbowl participants and a division rival on a hot streak) in a row is more than you'd expect from a backup QB, no matter how good the Defence was. He stayed cool, handled the game management well and had a few game winning drives. If that's not great from a guy who most people didn't even want to be on the squad this summer, I don't know what is.

If Dak get's us the superbowl this season, he was the guy who started it. All in the context of this great D of course. :flagwave:

Well then, let me enlighten you (said in jest, not condescending): "Great" would be throwing for 250-300 yards, with three TDs, and no ints.

He's doing what he's paid to do, at the salary he's earned to do it. He's gotten lucky several times, been very good several times, and hasn't cost us any games by being inept. His knowledge of the playbook and ability to read defenses is probably above average, but his athletic ability is very limited.

He's probably one of the better backups in the league, but that doesn't mean he's been playing great. I'm satisfied with the job he's done, but I don't expect him to carry the team on his back for even a quarter of a game.

When Dak comes back, the defense can't let off the gas. The Offense is the offense whether it's Dak or Cooper Rush starting... My point is (as I've stated numerous times) both are bus driver QB's. Yes Dak is better of the 2 (as far as accuracy and getting the ball to where it needs to be and for that reason alone may give you a few more points then Rush. But there really is nothing special about either one of them. Some of these people want to call Dak elite. That's the joke of the day.

Setting the wrong standards for a backup QB is your problem, not his. ;)

I want him to come back and play lights out, winning numerous games, and guiding us to a deep playoff run. I want to see this team in the NFC Championship, and maybe even the Super Bowl. On the other hand, this is a meritocracy. If Dak comes back and stinks up the place with bad play, then I want Cooper Rush back.

I'm neither pro nor against Dak atm. We just don't know what to expect. But he sucked in his last games. In order to find out whether he has overcome this we need to see him play behind this constantly improving o line. So you're wrong, I do want him to start as soon as he's healthy. It's just not the "yaaay, thank god he's back" moment but rather the "ok dude, show me what you've got" approach. I couldn't be happier if he played lights out again. With this defense and a truly capable QB we'd be the hottest team in the league. It's the missing piece in the puzzle.

Seems like you guys have forgotten what "moderate" even means over all those stupid love/hate threads.

I tend to agree with your take. But I have to believe Dak is better than Rush, or else there is absolutely no reason to keep Dak around. Pay him and get him out of here. But IMO Dak hasn't played a single game in his career with this type of defensive support. Don't bring up week one, it's week 1, meaningless. And we were playing the best D we faced all year. Last year, the 49ers D was just as good or better, and I thought our offense was a paper tiger.

I still think our O is shaky, but we have a D to make up for it. I fully expect Dak takes our current offense up a notch or two from where it is right now. Or move on from him.

Well the defense held the Chiefs to 19 points last year. Arizona to 25 and SF to 23. Nothing unmanageable for this so called "best offense" of 2021. And he did have Amari too.

So whole our D is definately a gem this year, Dak has to get his side of the ball straight. I guess would they have played KC in week 3 or so, they would have won. But woulda coulda... I hold Dak to a higher standard than Cooper, simply because he is the starter. Has nothing to do with him or his paycheck, would do the same with any starter.

But as long as they win it practically doesn't matter by how many points. All I expect Dak is to score at least 1 point more than the opponent. Whatever the odds are. So this is not about whether Dak would have scored ten or twenty more against Washington. I honestly wouldn't mind a 10-7 win against the Commanders next time we face them for example. But it's about him scoring a point more than the opponent in games, in which Cooper can't.

I agree. Where i don't agree is I hold Dak to a higher standard primarily due to his paycheck. Franchise QBs get higher paychecks because they are better. They have to constantly prove that or they get replaced.

Actually that's what I meant, sorry if it was misleading. Not because of the paycheck though, but he does have to prove that he's our guy. :)

If that is true, than there is more pressure on Dak now more than ever to get the Cowboys to a SB...because all the pieces are in place......I hope he succeeds but if not the Jones boys really need to consider and alternative QB.
