I can see it now, Hatcher bashing the org once he signs with Saints

Basically, the Cowboys in the past 15 years have kept from FA nearly every Cowboy they wanted and of those that left in FA, they really didn't do much.

And if you are a GM looking at current Cowboy FAs, what does history tell you? I really don't think teams will be offering a whole lot for Hatcher.

In my opinion it is. Look what Jerry's done to the likes of Witten, Ware, Romo. He's paid em alot, but give them no chance to win. The Cowboys are the laughing stock of the NFL. If you don't believe that, you're not accepting reality.

I'd hardly think it is a laughingstock based on merit alone without being agenda driven. Certainly we are not at the top of the game only mediocre. That's not acceptable to Cowboys' fans but it's hardly worthy of being called a laughingstock. If you think they are a laughingstock then that's your right but it's not reasonable to apply your opinion to 'everyone'.

I'd keep Hatch if possible, and add some serious meat next to him. If it's too expensive, back to the drawing board.

Yeah okay this coming from a guy who predicted we would go 12-4 this past year(and at that point we had already lost 2 games).

Dallas isn't a laughing stock? Really? Did you watch the bears game? How about the saints gane? What did you think about the record breaking 40 first down performance?

I've never seen national media outlets mock/laugh at an organization like they did after the bears beat us into the ground. You obviously did not turn on NFLN or sportscenter the entire week following that loss.

Dallas had some pathetic performances. We played in a meaningful game at the end but it was clear after the saints game that Dallas could not beat any playoff teams.

1st...Yes I predicted the team to go 12-4 and was wrong like many others who made predictions. It was a half joke anyway.

2nd...One bad game or performance doesn't make you a laughingstock. The reason they talked so much about the game is because it was the Dallas Cowboys and that = viewers = $. You never hear them mocking the Jags or Browns because those teams are true laughingstocks...no one expects anything from them. That isn't true about this team.

3rd...The Cowboys took the Broncos down to the wire so I think they had a legit shot to win in the wildcard round at home. No way they were going to the SB but a home victory wasn't out of the question.

This organization isn't a laughingstock. Mediocre? Yes. Disappointing? Yes.

But still very much relevant in the NFL.

If you're a Cowboys fan, then criticizing the team is not allowed. So go frame your Jerry Jones favorite photo in gold, place it above the mantel of your fireplace, drink the "Everything is Alright with this Franchise" Koolaid on sale at all concession stands in Jerry World, along with the "Everything is Rosy" Cowboys sunglasses. And while you're at it, buy the full-price bottle of "The Greatest Owner and GM in the World" syrup, swallow but not too fast so it coats your inner throat, then sit down and shut the HECK UP.

We need you drunk and under the influence like Jerry Jones and his supporters so you too will fall in place and cry, "All is Well" and "Like 'em or Get Another Team" hypnotized, enabling stooges. :)

Who is it saying you are not allowed to criticize the Cowboys? If you throw stuff like this out there then someone is likely to counter since this is not an accurate statement. I don't like the GM that much here. He's not terrible but he's not serving the owner well since the owner and the GM are one and the same. I'm still on the fence with Garrett. I have no idea if Kiffin can be successful here. I don't like the way the FO has used high draft picks over the years although each year I have to wait 2-3 years until I can criticize it. If you give a reasonable idea as to why you don't like something then someone will likely engage you whether they agree or not.

You must not get around much. Talk to fans of other teams. Heck, talk to anyone not a Cowboy fan and ask their opinion. From the Jerry-tron, to the pole dancers to the constant meddling, the disastrous management of the salary cap, the wasted drafts, the drunken episodes, running JJ out, poor handling of firing one of the greatest coaches ever, I could go on and on. Oh yea, the Cowboys are the laugingstock of the NFL. Hey, it's my opinion. Only you are trying to apply it to everyone.

Please list those who have stated the Cowboys cannot be criticized and then list those that actually support Jerry Jones as a GM.

If he moves on and bashes the organization, then we made the right decision. Turning around and running your mouth about your previous employer, particularly when you really didn't do much as a player the entire time you were there, shows a lack of class on par with Sherman. Hell, Hatch might be better suited in Seadderall if that's his attitude.

The Cowboys had a stretch of three playoff appearances in four years from '06 to '09...had one throw away season in 2010 and for the last three years have been one game away from the playoffs. That isn't laughing stock no matter how you try to spin it.

Just like many on here you over exaggerate the negatives and downplay the positives. If moping around here spouting "WOE IS WE" is your game leave me out of it. It's your opinion and you're welcome to it but don't expect too many on here to agree with you.

Good point.
I always think about the San Antonio Spurs fans on their boards who believe that any year without a ring is an utter disappointment and slit their wrists every year it doesn't happen.

There is no thought about how hard it is to succeed in the pro-sports world.
There is no appreciation of The Journey.
Especially for them as a small market team trying to make it with aged legends.
Thank goodness they have a superior FO with a legendary Coach, but they still don't win more often than they do- as far as Championships are concerned...

I know what's going on with this team and it's leadership- I'm not naive, but they haven't exactly been 3-13 every year either.
When people say we are the laughing stock of the league- it's only because of their high-profile.
Otherwise people would be saying they are a team always on the cusp and can't quite make it lately.

Call a spade a spade.

Because this team is THE Dallas Cowboys, the fans feel that the expectations should be on a level above everyone else's.
That's not quite how the real world operates anymore when the Overall Function of The League is to create and maintain BALANCE.

The Dallas Cowboys no longer have any single advantage over any other team any longer and expectations should be adjusted.

I read fans saying "The Cowboys are a Championship or bust team", "The Cowboys aren't the Browns", "The Cowboys are better than the rest- they never settle,".

Well- you guys WERE right. Now? Things have been implemented to stop teams LIKE THE COWBOYS from doing just that.

Everything is more even now and unfortunately we don't have a genius GM, or a genius Coach so this is what we get.
But even if we did have a Genius GM and a Genius HC- the league is now built to blunt that.
Nowadays you have to be superior in the Draft- Over and Over.
And few teams are- Over and Over.

When everything is added up- it all boils down to this:
This team isn't a SUCCESS, but it isn't a laughingstock either.
They are what we've been witnessing the past several years.
Middle of the Road.

I've been all over the world. I don't need to talk to anyone to discern your statement and I don't care what others think in this instance.

I'm not applying it to anyone because I don't think the Cowboys are a laughingstock. laugh·ing·stock noun\ˈla-fiŋ-ˌstäk, ˈlä-\ : a person or thing that is regarded as very foolish or ridiculous

To paraphrase you did say I think it is a laughingstock but then you said anyone who didn't think so wasn't accepting reality. Since I and almost everyone else on earth understand 'reality' then that makes everyone come into play. Now you can spin that statement but most people aren't so psychotic or delusional they can't perceive most of the world thru their five senses appropriately and interact with the stimuli well enough to get around. I'll admit all are not Einstein but..... IOW's anyone not sharing your viewpoint wasn't seeing at least that portion of reality correctly.

That doesn't mean I don't share some of your viewpoints in some degree be it small or large. We merely disagree and we should be able to agree to that civilly.

Last few years? Try since Jimmy Johnson left. The Cowboys are in fact the laughing stock of the NFL whether you want to believe it or not. The Commanders are right up there as well.

The Browns are the laughing stock of the NFL. The fact that they were offering people a HC position and were getting turned down over the phone is embarrassing, there are teams who are so bad that it will take at least 3-4 years to make them even a little competitive and that's if they can even get the right management in place.

Yeah because Hatcher will base his decision on where to go completely around the fact that Brees made him his first pick in a pro bowl. lol.

Ok.

Nevermind that the Saints have other FA money issues they're going to have to do deal with but picking him first in the Pro Bowl seals the deal. He'll sign there no matter what.

Hey, if he does, he does, but handing a big contract to a 32 year old player is not a good idea. Heck, now that I think about it, a contributing reason to why they can't afford Hatcher is because they handed big money to another 30-something DT and look what that got them.

Dude, you are funny at times. What do they put in the water their in Farmers Branch?

You will excuse we FB peeps. We half residual affects from the fluoride they used to put in the water. We got rid of it when we noticed our precious bodily fluids were being expended at a high rate and the mens lost their urges to . . . bowl and square dance and the womans lost their urges to go barefoot and drink Colt 45.
Luckily we got a infusion of womans from South Oak Cliff and Plano to party while our womans got back to their regular selfs.
If you come to FB you can eat free with us.
