True. That's Jerry talking out side of mouth
He was here, yet they didn't offer to restructure him. If their reasoning was true they didn't want to insult him well how has it changed? They gonna go offer him another big contract? Or more likely that was to save Zeke's feelings cause we all know he isn't worth near that much. I'm sure part of Jerry is lny lying, he does like him personally.

We’ll see how you feel during the season if his replacements are worse and we’re struggling to pick up a yard in critical situations. Some of you would rather have any back but him.
I don’t want Zeke back just for the occasional run on short yardage situations. Find somebody else who can do it.

Zeke is useless for anything else. It’s not worth having him take up a roster space.

He can’t play special teams and he shouldn’t be getting the ball on regular downs.

If he was valuable he wouldn’t be a free agent right now.

I don’t know how long you’ve been following football, but those occasional short yardage runs are very critical. We lost a huge game in Philly a few years ago because Pollard couldn’t pick up 1 yard on a third down. He took a loss, forcing us to punt and we got beat, knocking us from the playoffs. McCarthy loves taking his chances on fourth down and if we don’t have a back who can push for a yard or two it’s going to lead to problems. Zeke is available because he’s not what he was and he’s still looking for good money. Someone will sign him by training camp and it may be us.

Based upon this draft, I can see us bringing him back...

Thoughts?
No! Just no! Hell no! Just let Zeke fade away into obscurity. They finally got him off the roster and there’s no need to bring him back. The fact that nobody wants to sign him should say all you need to know about Zeke at this point in his career.

The rookie UDFA fullback can run better than Zeke at this point.

Ezekiel Elliott, yea, I think I've heard of him from somewhere.

His return wouldn't bother my observations at all. Dallas might have a change of heart, but I doubt that.

Yeah I’ve been watching football a long time. I’m not arguing that short yardage situations aren’t critical. I’m saying Zeke sucks now and the small value he brings on short yardage alone isn’t worth the roster spot. There are other running backs that can do the same job.

A washed RB who doesn’t play special teams and is a detriment on regular downs isn’t worth a roster spot for short yardage situations alone.

That has yet to be proven. He has less than 500 yards rushing the past two seasons, with only 5 TDs. His career rushing average is 4.1. The Cowboys are his third team.

The NFL has made a league wide adaption to re-up years and how long current salaries are worked. Zeke has received some of this adjustment facts.

For the right price....I'd welcome him back. He's not a game breaker anymore, but he does a lot of little things that most wouldn't understand.

I think you misread who he was talking about.

With the owner/gm, evp/ceo/dpp, hc, and the qb keep hemming and hawing about the subject....don't be surprised if Elliott eschews a decent offer from another team to wait around for the Cowboys to shoehorn him on the roster late November or early December if the team is a formidable contender at that time of the season.

I was thinking of Ronald Jones I haven’t heard about the rookie UDFA FB. I haven’t checked the UDFA thread. I wouldn’t be counting too much on a rookie UDFA. That’s not a player I want my season depending on.
