Sure we may have drafted some good players.
This draft was a total nuts and bolts draft. It’s cool we improved on a already elite NFL defense.
But…
Dallas biggest weakness was offensive playmakers and all we really did was add Brandon Cooks.
The guard spot is still weak.
I think if they go with their best 5 then that means Tyler back at guard and Tyron back at left Tackle.
I just don’t see a team as it’s currently constructed that’s competing with the Eagles for the division or the conference.
My hope is they have something up there sleeve.
It’s hard for me to believe that Ronald Jones is really going to be their #2 back.
The Cowboys are also really giving Tolbert an opportunity to shine with not giving him any real competition.
My hope is that Dallas will somehow pull off a miracle trade and get Derrick Henry in here.
The Titans are not a contender and Henry kinda changes everything for us. Immediately makes us a legit Super Bowl contender.
I keep coming back to this and thinking. Doesn't help.
But knowing we're moving to BigMac's West Coast I figured maybe we could see some parallels between what he did there and what he plans to do here.
Biggest thing I see is we have more talent here, today, in Dallas than he had on any of his Green Bay teams. Rodgers is on record complaining they never drafted a top flight receiver.
In 13 years, Green Bay had 5 Pro Bowl lineman, Wells, Saturday, Sitton, and Lang. Saturday made 2 and Sitton 3, but only 5 Olineman made the Pro Bowl in 13 years. So much for the idea of having 7 blocks of granite.
In those 13 years he only had 3 losing seasons, one 6-10, one 7-9, and the final, 4-7-1. In all others he averaged 10 wins, with a 15 win and a 13 win mixed in. But only 10-6 the year they won the Super Bowl.
Take it all into account, they didn't have the best WRs, the best lineman, seldom had 1000 yard RB,.......how were perennial winners?
Not to say he didn't have NFL talent, he just didn't have the best NFL talent.
Even with an Aaron Rodgers football is still a team game so Rodgers didn't do it all by himself.
To me his record proves you can get the same production with lesser talent.
And I'd say they succeeded by playing as a team with a scheme that put players in position to succeed.
Teams with the best talent don't always win (boy do we know how true that is!)
Either way, you've made an excellent observation that requires careful thought with regards to the emphasis one places on talent vs scheme and how BigMac proceeds.
It's his neck if he's wrong.
