It was what I was hoping would happen from day 1. But it’s probably better overall it unfolded as it did. They just weren’t really prepared for it. McCarthy has a much better handle on the situation and the team is setup to be successful with any transition.
I said for years with JG "Why does it seem our rookies regress" with MM and crew you can see players getting better its refreshing to say the least.

If Dak puts points on the board San Fran is going to stop running and out the ball in the air.

When Dak is struggling there is no amount of defense that’s going to save him.

We need such a strong and explosive run game for Dak to really get the most out of him.

Without it we aren’t going anywhere with Dak as the QB.
An inability to run the ball (looking at Moore and Zeke) was the starting point for the 9ers loss. Indeed, Dak needs a running game (especially to keep the 9ers honest).

With what we've got now, minus KM (RoJo, Dowdle and even Malik ....behind a better blocking TE) would we have stuck to the run, and more importantly would the 9ers have respected our running game?

I think we've identified the individual free agent acquisitions, but the draft has helped schematically, helped stop the run and given a more flexible, less predictable offense.

Dallas is not even close to even mention the "SB".
Of course Dallas should be mentioned as being mentioned as a team in contention for the Super Bowl. The only teams ranked above the Cowboys in the NFC are the 49ers and Eagles. The Cowboys are third. By definition, they are in contention. They beat the Eagles once last year. Take away the pick-6 at the 49ers, and the missed extra point, and the Cowboys would have won. Yes, they didn't win, but if two plays is the only difference, the Cowboys are a contender.

As for the Eagles, they can only really play two DT's at a time. They drafted three DT's in the last 2 yeayrs, and still have Fletcher Cox. I get that some Cowboys fans are scared, but it's way to early to believe the Cowboys can't compete with the Eagles.

The Cowboys got stronger up the middle of their defense with both Dline picks this year, resigning Hankins and resigning Vander Esch while drafting yet another linebacker. They got stronger on the edge of their defense also, and already had one of the best pass rushing teams in the NFL.

The only so-called glaring holes on the team are at Left Guard and place-kicker, and they have a plan for Guard. According to Jerry, they will sign a veteran place-kicker.

Plus the roster and how it’s built. You got competition up and down. I don’t miss 8-8 every other year with no plan or direction. It most certainly is refreshing. A night and day difference! Some still compare what’s happening today to that garbage. It’s really not the case. Good things are happening here.

Dallas has a top 10 offensive line, and it played like it in the playoffs.

Just like their receiving corp deteriorated when Dak was behind center. Players that were relevant with Cooper Rush stopped producing. Dak doesn't make anyone better and that's pretty apparent for someone making elite QB money.
Numbers say different. The Oline was terrible in the SF game.

Well if we are taking away things...

Take away a miracle pick-six against an Eagles team that played their backup QB against us and we would've lost that game.

While we might be the third-best team in the NFC that gap is huge. Also at play is Dak's confidence as the season goes on. He's gonna start to hear it after INT's and if we struggle early on he will lose the fan base for good.

Cowboys Oline is probably top 5 or even top 3.

People don’t understand how trash NFL lines are and Dallas actually has a good one.

Just because Dak holds the ball forever and Zeke’s too slow to hit a hole doesn’t mean they’re not good.
Facts are stubborn things. Cowboys pass block win rate is 28th in the NFL. Run blocking is much better at 7th in the NFL. That run block number is probably bolstered when Steele is in there as he is great at run blocking.

So Cowboys line wasnt top 5 last year, not close to it. And after losing our starting guard, its even worse this year.

You must have missed the Niners game? Oline got destroyed by their D. If were going to beat the best teams and best defenses in the playoffs, our Oline isnt good enough.

Sure we may have drafted some good players.

This draft was a total nuts and bolts draft. It’s cool we improved on a already elite NFL defense.

But…

Dallas biggest weakness was offensive playmakers and all we really did was add Brandon Cooks.

The guard spot is still weak.

I think if they go with their best 5 then that means Tyler back at guard and Tyron back at left Tackle.

I just don’t see a team as it’s currently constructed that’s competing with the Eagles for the division or the conference.

My hope is they have something up there sleeve.

It’s hard for me to believe that Ronald Jones is really going to be their #2 back.

The Cowboys are also really giving Tolbert an opportunity to shine with not giving him any real competition.

My hope is that Dallas will somehow pull off a miracle trade and get Derrick Henry in here.

The Titans are not a contender and Henry kinda changes everything for us. Immediately makes us a legit Super Bowl contender.
The Cowboys are a better team today than they were last year and they won 13 games last year.

I don’t appreciate it at all.

A TD vulture and a short yardage guy getting 15 Carrie’s a game is ridiculous. Dude is anti- big play.

Cowboys can do better.
I think you do appreciate the impact ;)

having a run stuffer like mazi smith certainly gets us closer than we were.
i hope they have a series where both hankins and smith are starting.
that will be fun.
i also think overshown and his speed will show up on gameday.
i love the diggs/gilmore combo.
cooks with lamb and gallup is a better trio than last year.
we have a te weapon in ferguson who can block.
and deuce vaughn is a play-maker.
its all about our oline.
if that group can ride the waves...this team got better.
and that gets us closer.

All the offensive players that could change the complexion of this team went before we had any chance. That’s why these folks that talked about passing on Bijan and Gibbs were nuts. All the top WR’s gone. And the class was weak to begin with. Go look at the last 2 drafts. How many impact WR’s were found in round 3 and 4 ?
Actually we got an offensive player that can change the complexion of the offense. Cooks with a 5th round pick.

He will likely be better than any receiver drafted this year. At least for the next couple of seasons because rookie receivers usually take time to develop.

Unless we can upset the fav to win NFC again to take our division we will be playing all of our playoff games on the road again which is extremely tough getting to a championship game.
Got to make the playoffs first and the two things we know about this season, like every other season in the last 10, there will be surprises and disappointments and the Cowboys have been both.

I think they're looking out the front window at PHL and SF and might need to look just as hard at DET, NYG and SEA in the rearview mirror.

What game were you watching? The only terrible players in that game were Dak and Zeke. Even Maher showed up.
Yah and why were both those players bad? LOL

Maher? The guy that missed the first extra point? Looks like you werent watching.
