Before you jump on me, please hear me in context.

1. Tony Romo has played outstanding football
2. Without Tony Romo we would not be in the position we are in, PERIOD.
3. If Tony Romo had played the entire season as his current level, he is a pro bowler hands down.

But, to me, this represents what I have come to hate about the modern NFL. It is a stat driven, popularity driven, personality driven, league that evaluates players in a superficial way.

Does anyone realize that David Carr is in the top half of QB's in QB rating? Have you watched David Carr play? The guy probably won't be back in Houston next year.

Stats can lie, ESPECIALLY at the QB position.

In this case, Romo's stats aren't a lie. He has played fantastic. But how do you put a guy in the pro bowl who has barely played HALF A SEASON????

I'm proud we have a Dallas Cowboys player going at that position.
I'm proud we seem to have a legitimate QB in Dallas again.
I'm proud of what he has done for our football team.

But I don't agree with this choice, this year. Ok, destroy me :) :)

Can you name two qbs in the NFC that deserve the Pro Bowl more than Romo?

Well, first off, I only have to name 1, since Brees and Bulger are already on the team.

Second, I just think you have to go with a guy who has been the starter for the vast majority of the season.

So, I would say Eli Manning or Michael Vick.

AND PLEASE HEAR ME. Romo has outplayed BOTH of them. And I WOULDN'T TRADE ROMO FOR EITHER OF THEM.

So, again, I don't want to be misunderstood. I'm a Romo fan.

I just don't think you can give it to a guy who has started 8 of his teams 14 games.

How many games did McNabb play before he got hurt?

Isn't Romo's season better than McNabb's with the same number of games? Better rating, better team record?

Isn't funny that the Eagles are actually better with Garcia then they were McNabb?

Romo didn't get in on just his QB Rating or his stats like you make it sound, but on his record as the starting QB and his overall performance as a starter. The entire package.

Okay. I think you are just trying to stir the pot now.

The Pro Bowl has denigrated into nothing less than a popularity contest over the last few years...

No surprises here...

please RC....I normally agree with just about everything you post, but Manning and Vick have no business being in the probowl...more starts or not, those guys have been erratic as hell

Romo's had one bad start out of 8 and is the NFC leading passer right now

I will say this, though, after looking more closely at the NFL stats for this year.

If you didn't go with Manning or Vick, you would have to go with Romo because everyone else playing near decent has also been part time.

Delhomme has been part time.
McNabb didn't finish
Hasselbeck has been part time.

So, I can see why they did what they did, but I still think you have to go with one of the two guys who has his team in a good place, even though his stats aren't as good.

Even Rex Grossman might be worth mentioning.

Romo might as well be a pro bowler on account of the sorry state of NFC quarterbacking.

Romo getting into the Pro Bowl may be more of an indictment of the QB play in the League.

I don't disagree with you, David, about their perfomances, and after looking at the possible choices more than I had, like I said, I can see why they were forced to go with an 8 start guy.

You can change your signature. We have Quarterback.

Carr was actually playing pretty well in the first half of the season. His stats over the last month have been atrocious, though.

Yeah Eli, Mike Vick and Rex Grossman should all start.

What were the voters thinking.

The NFC can run a 3 QB set with these greats.

Given the choices this year, with so many of the usual suspects injured, that seems about right. Bulger and Brees have been full time; no other full time QB really deserves it. So if you go by part timers, then McFlab come up first; but he is injured. So that leaves Romo as the best part time QB this season. Process of elimination. Vick and Manning do not deserve it.

I understand what your saying but in the end is Manning,Vick and Grossman better QB's? They have not shown that they are

Well, I BELIEVE we have a QB, and I HAVE REASON TO HOPE we have a QB. But I will hold off on that for just a bit more than 8 games.

But I grant you, I haven't been this enthused about our QB play since #8 left us.
