Bingo.

I find that most fans who think the sky is falling seem to the the younger types, the whining types, the Negative-Nancy-sky-is-falling types.

The game is complex. It takes a complex mind to see what is really going on out there. When you get your opinion straight from ESPN, it's hard to make a realistic football analysis about this team. The media is full of hot air, which apparently provokes a lot of the hollow heads to rise up to their level of perspective. "The Cowboys 2009 draft is a bust!", they say, before anyone ever takes the field.

Anyone with a clue would know this team is one of the best assembled teams the Cowboys ever had. Whether they go out and prove it is another story, but I think they will.

That's a stretch.

Also, it isn't all about talent, 2007 and 2008 made that very clear.

Let's win some Playoff Games before we make a decision about how good these guys are.

However, barring injury, there is no way this team only wins 7 Games.

I am cautious about this season with low expectations. I definately like the low profile approach, people writing off the Cowboys. But who can blame them (media) Dallas didn't show it last year and especially in the last game. So we will see. I like our team and hope that we just run the ball a lot more and Tony doesn't make stupid plays this year.

All the negativity has actually put somewhat of a damper on my excitement. Im not gonna lie.

I realise opinion doesn't matter but I can't log on the Zone or turn on the TV without people just hammering this team and telling me how bad everyone is.

Just wait until Sunday, you'll feel better then.

I have a feeling you'll see my point come season's end. We definitely have the talent. And that's what this thread is all about. The media and NNs don't think so.

not that it will help but before the season starts i figured its worth a shot

If...

Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,

Or being hated, don't give way to hating,

And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;

If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,

And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

And lose, and start again at your beginnings

And never breathe a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone,

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

If all men count with you, but none too much;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -

Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,

And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

Thanks, Hos. I was starting to think I was crazy, because it seemed like nobody else was seeing things the way I'm seeing them.

If we can stay healthy, we're as good as anyone.

Put an average starting QB on this team (like an Eli Manning, and hell yes he's average), and you're looking at a 7-10 win team. And that's 7-10 wins if health isn't an issue.

Romo is a stud. So barring injury, I see us winning 11+ games. Another 13-3 season wouldn't shock me in the least. I'll roll with Hos' 12-4 prediction.

If I sound like a homer, so be it. I think we have a damn good team this year. I see 0 weaknesses among our starting 22 or primary special teams positions (LS, P, K).

You know I am not as optimistic. I want to see where they have come from since 44-6 as well as the tough December games. Like I have said before, this may be set up year for a great 2010.

Great post. If anyone has three hours to kill, I suggest watching the opener against Cleveland last year. Remember the optimism we all felt going into last season, then the team came out of the gate quick and floored the Browns?

This isn't the same 13-3 team from two years ago, or the 9-7 team from last year - it's better. I firmly believe that, for all the reasons that Hos mentioned.

As I've said again and again, take last year's team, subtract the distraction called TO and add a healthy Romo, Felix Jones, Olshansky and Brooking and this team waltzes into the NFC Championship game.

On top of what Hos mentioned, I also believe this is a weaker division.

Philadelphia's offensive line is decimated, they lost the leaders of their defense (on and off the field) and they've added their own media circus to the team. The Giants are clearly not the same team without Plaxico.

And yeah, I really love flying under the radar!

How can you NOT be excited Hos. Outstanding post, and I share "most" of your optimism. I like where we are flying right now.

Everyone forgets that this is STILL (see my opening day post in '07) an extremely dangerous group of Dallas Cowboys... regardless of what any mediot says.

Nice post Hos. I'm glad my fellow Boys fans are gearing up for yet another season. I'll be looking forward to it as usual but with lowered expectations. I'll truly get excited again when I see results. Stay healthy and play a full 16 game regular season (not 12). When I see that then a smile will begin to surface again. Until then, I will watch and cheer with hope and tempered expectations.
